THE AMAZING RACE 15, ~Season Premier~ 09/27/09 pg 64!

MM27, this is OT, but I love the picture of your dog. It could be a twin for my Dixie!

Now, back to the original topic. Can you imagine what they smelled like after lugging the cheese around? I mean, the grocery store that I shop at has huge circles of cheese and the area around those cheeses don't always smell so good.

I loved the cheese roll:laughing: I don't know if I could do the bungee jump. That was really high!

I was surprised how short the stunt guys looked on the tar mat:)

I agree that was a great first eposide and I love the idea of making food from around the world when watching TAR, my kids will like that idea. It seems like a very family friendly season (no one stands out to me as particularily skanky or foul mouthed:rotfl: )

OMG the cheese scene! I was laughing so hard when they were running/stumbling down the hill and the wooden cheese carriers were just breaking apart around them. The dad who was scooting down on his rear end cracked me up. When the cheese would go flinging down the hill, I was hysterical!

They are going to Germany next week! Get the brats and beer ready!!
To be precise, they are ending up in Salzburg, Austria through Bavaria. Maybe I should ask my friend bavaria on the Transportation board what I should cook! She's a vegetarian so brats are out ... plus I live in Wisconsin and brats are so common here :).

For future reference, here's the AR 14 Wiki:

Not to mention what they were sliding through coming down the hill - I remember one team saying in addition to being muddy, there were animal droppings all over.

I laughed til I cried last night...I was snorting and gasping for air and wiping away tears when the first group was trying to get the cheese down the hill. Dh actually came in to the room to see what was wrong!

I don't have a clear favorite yet, but am glad the orange team was gone. I can't believe a girl that young can't outrun a 50-something lady. And poor Linda is so out of shape, too. Why would you even try out for that show if you knew that you couldn't keep up physically? And once you made it, wouldn't you start working out with a personal trainer and brushing up on geography and buy a couple of commonly used phrase books in a bunch of other languages?

Did anyone else notice that a couple of the teams were speaking Spanish to the cab drivers and clue givers in this episode? Someone said "Gracias" when they got a clue, and another one tried to tell a cab driver to "stay here" in Spanish, although they said "esta aqui" which is 'this here." That tickled me to death...

Wait....until the fatigue, exhaustion, hunger, the pressure, etc., sets in. They tend to be a little cranky after that.

Good Morning TAR DISer's!!! :wave2:

Just getting a chance now to stop in. GREAT GREAT GREAT first epi!!! Loved it!!!

Loved the Mom/Son team = Margie & Luke. Who was NOT in tears when they got to the mat!!! :woohoo: And Phil using sign language, just so wicked cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :woohoo:

Those TWO challenges had my family looking something like this = :scared1:

The bungee jumping was  and the cheese challenge was :lmao:

I was surprised that the flight attendants came in LAST after they told us all in the opening that being flight attendants gives them a "heads up" on all this traveling because they have so many "travel secrets"! :headache:

I wish the orange team had stayed....I kinda like a little drama with my TAR!!! ::yes:: They reminded me of that couple from two seasons back....I think she was JEN. She was blonde....they yelled at each other 24/7...sometimes it was sad but MOST times it was :rotfl2:

I felt bad for Linda and next week appears to look very sad for her....she appears to be LOST! :sad1: I was thrilled for the Mike & Mel team...Dad did ok getting his share of the cheese down the hill. The Stunt men are AWESOME!!! :thumbsup2

I'm sure it had nothing to do with the Auburn sweatshirt :rotfl:

I don't dislike anyone yet, but I'm not sorry the orange team is gone.

I feel bad for Linda, but her crying is wearing me thin already. She won't last much longer mentally or physically.

I thought it was a great episode!

I noticed that too :happytv:

Yeah we noticed that too. DW guessed the contestants probably didn't know how to speak Italian. So they probably just used Spanish and hoped it was similar enough to Italian to get their point across.

And all his photo shots. Phil is one good looking guy I tell you.
::yes::

Oh my gosh, I LOVE TAR! Bookmarking this thread.

We thought the cheese challenge was hilarious and we love the mother and son team and the older couple (though they didn't show that much of them last night).

I also think the stuntmen are going to be a ton of fun this year.

Now that the complete race route is on the AR-14 website I think I will cook something from the pit stop country every Sunday night. Last night I had Alton Brown's Swiss Steak (I don't think it's really "swiss" but I had cube steak in the fridge) with Rösti (hash browns). Yummy! I think next week is Austria :).

I'll be back to comment on the show ...
What a fantastic idea! Going to steal it from you if you don't mind.

(Off topic - I love your siggy picture).

I caught this too. Why do people seem to think that Spanish is a universal language?:confused3

Loved, loved, loved the cheese part! DH said first thing that they should have gone down backwards so that gravity wasn't working against them. Then what do you know, that's exactly what the hillbillies did! And why in the world was Linda carrying her coat when she was trying to walk up that hill? Leave that think at the bottom, honey!:rotfl2:

Can't wait till next week!

Wow!!! What an opening. :thumbsup2 The cheese challenge was amazingly funny. Even though I'm from SC I was glad the orange team went home last night too.

I was thinking that Amanda and Kris were from SC while I was watching the race. Must have been denial since I didn't like the orange team!
I thought the funniest line was when the hillbilly wife said to her husband at the finish line, "Phil's giving us the eyebrow." (or something like that!)
