THE AMAZING RACE 15, ~Season Premier~ 09/27/09 pg 64!

Last night's show was probably the best season premiere for TAR I've ever seen! Switzerland was beautiful...I wanna go! :teeth:

The cheese haul was hilarious! Steve certainly showed them how to do it by pulling three down on the backboard. I thought they would be gone for sure until then!

I'm really glad it's back on the air again and the show won't be on late because of the NFL!

Wow!!! What an opening. :thumbsup2 The cheese challenge was amazingly funny. Even though I'm from SC I was glad the orange team went home last night too. I guess they were the wine-ers that went with that cheese. :lmao: I don't get the hillbilly couple. She is not in shape for this at all. If you were going to do this show wouldn't you at least try to get your stamina up. :confused3 And the other thing I'm waiting for are the people that can't drive a stick. :confused3

IThe son has been in several movies, Ive seen him before several times. I am suprised they let movie stars(Or whatever you want to call him)on the TAR:confused3

so excited about AR starting again but I am concerned about casting getting more and more models/actors "mactors" in this show.

That's what I was talking about.

Oh I loved it last night. I have been to Switzerland and that whole show made me want to go back.
I was happy to see some very hard challenges. And wasn't sad to see the yeller go.

Don't have a favorite team yet. But I do love the Mother and the deaf son. And the stunt men are going to have no problem with the scary ones I think.
How about Steve stepping up though and getting those 3 down in record time! way to go thinking outside the box. And man could that cheese roll!

Those cow bells were cracking me up too.
Fun fun fun I loved it and can't wait until next week!

Mike White isnt much of an actor or model. LOL Unless he's modeling a new pigmentation cream. haha He is primarily a writer. His fame, if you call it that, would never bring in a crowd.haha He has that look that you might say "Hey, I know you from somewhere..." haha

Now if they start casting Angelina Jolie and her 39 babies, then I will start worrying.

I am a little bothered by the constant casting of flight attendants and models though.

Now that the complete race route is on the AR-14 website I think I will cook something from the pit stop country every Sunday night. Last night I had Alton Brown's Swiss Steak (I don't think it's really "swiss" but I had cube steak in the fridge) with Rösti (hash browns). Yummy! I think next week is Austria :).

I'll be back to comment on the show ...

I really like the movie School of Rock, so of course I was cheering for "Ned Schneebly" and his dad! That was the dad that came out with "Please don't let me get hit with cheese," wasn't it?

I like the mother and son team, too.

He was in this weird movie called "Chuck and Buck", it was several years back. I didnt know he wrote for Dawson's Creek as well.

Screenwriter and actor Mike White's best work has never been afraid to flaunt its sharp edges, and that was never more true than in his breakthrough film, Chuck & Buck, in which the darkly witty humor of his screenplay was matched by his disarmingly eccentric performance as a childlike but obsessive... young man. Born in California in 1970, Mike White is the son of Reverend Mel White, a noted author, pastor, and gay rights activist. Mike White studied at Wesleyan University and after completing his education, he moved to Los Angeles and began pursuing a career as a writer. After a two-year stint collaborating with friend Zak Penn -- which resulted in no work that's been produced to date -- White struck out on his own, and scored a lucky break when he was hired as a writer and producer for the WB's teen drama series Dawson's Creek. Upon its debut in 1998, Dawson's Creek was a hit in the ratings, and that same year White received his first screenplay credit for the offbeat teen comedy Dead Man on Campus. After his success with Dawson's Creek, in 1999 White moved on to another teen-themed television show, the critically lauded Freaks and Geeks, where he again served as both producer and occasional writer. The following year, White briefly left teenagers behind with his screenplay for the edgy independent comedy-drama Chuck & Buck; White also co-starred as the childlike Buck O'Brien in what was only his second screen appearance (his first was in a supporting role in Star Maps, whose director, Miguel Arteta, was also behind the camera for Chuck & Buck). While White's performance as Buck earned him the Best Male Performance award at the 2000 Deauville Film Festival, and a nomination in the same category at the 2000 American Spirit Awards, he opted to focus on his screenwriting in the wake of Chuck & Buck's critical success. In 2001, he took another stab at TV as writer and producer of the edgy but short-lived prime-time soap opera Pasadena, and 2002 saw the release of two feature films scripted by White, Orange County and The Good Girl. White also played small supporting roles in both films. If to this point it had been fairly difficult to pinpoint precisely where White excelled the most in the worlds of film and television, the multi-faceted entertainer would continue to keep fans contending the matter by writing the Jack Black hits School of Rock and Nacho Libre, and turning in a memorable performance as the put-upon teacher who finds his position hijacked by his hard rocking friend in the former. Supporting roles in the Hollywood misfire The Stepford Wives and opposite John C. Reilly in Artera's dramatic short Are You the Favorite Person of Anybody were quick to follow in 2004 and 2005 respectively, with a key role in Welcome to California finding White cast as a well-known composer attempting to salvage his crumbling marriage to his Hollywood actress wife. Back behind the scenes, White would continue to expand his horizions by writing and directing 2007's Year of the Dog - a comedy-drama feature starring former SNL alum Molly Shannon as an easygoing secretary whose stable life is thrown into a tailspin with the death of her beloved dog Pencil. ~ All Movie Guide «Hide Full Summary

Jumping in. I like to watch it and then let it stew overnight before I make any comments :goodvibes

The first two tasks were great. Hopefully the whole season is this good. I agree with everyone else, the cheese rolling was so funny :happytv: I think the last challenge I laughed so hard was the one where they had to herd goats or something like that.....The local guys were so funny. I give props to Steve for figuring out a good way to get it down. That surely saved them from elimination.

I thought I read somewhere that Steve and Linda were fairly well travelled (just not outside the US) so I wasn't expecting them to be quite as "hill billy." And WHAT IN THE WORLD was Linda wearing???? I do hope they stick around awhile though because they are funny.

I didn't really form to many other opinions last night except that the bro/sis lawyers are going to be very ruthless I think. So far I liked the stunt guys, cheerleaders, and mom/son but that could change in a week or two once we get to know them better. I am just so glad the Race is back on!

At the ending, I can't believe Preston & Jennifer(?) could not outrun those other girls. Preston was even in front at the begining.Jennifer wasn't even running! She was barely jogging. And then he started carrying her to the mat, but the run wasn't that far!!!

First of all, I am VERY happy that "piggy back" boy and girl are gone. You're in a foot race to not get eliminated and you're carrying your girlfriend?!? Did they want to finish looking like their promo picture on the AR-14 website? What's up with that? I was also groaning to myself when Preston was being a big jerk to Jennifer on the train. I'm glad we don't have to watch his crap all season.

Kudos to Steve! He was the only one who thought about using the cheese carrier as a sled. I don't think they are going to last long, though. Linda doesn't have the physical stamina for the race.

"Oh please don't let the cheese hit me." had to be the funniest line ever on TAR.

Great first episode!

That was too darn funny. The Cheese had to be the BEST part of the show. :lmao:

I totally agree BEST first Episode, I hope it continues on this path.

To be fair, one was as bad as the other.

Another person happy that the race is back on! I really enjoyed the show last night...especially the cheese :rotfl: I was also shocked that he had to carry her to get to the finish line...come on!

The Orange team is younger than the blondes and they couldn't beat them in a foot race......!

Now that the complete race route is on the AR-14 website I think I will cook something from the pit stop country every Sunday night. We had fondue in honor of the race being in Switzerland! :goodvibes
I thought they were going to Germany next week...we were going to have brats and beer! :thumbsup2

having used a cardboard box to slide down the hills on my Uncle's farm in VA, I told my DD early on, I'd be using the flat part of that "cheese carrier" as a sled!

haven't decided who I want to win yet (besides the team my DD drew in the office pool!) Can't imagine the hillbillies making it much further.

And the other thing I'm waiting for are the people that can't drive a stick. :confused3
That would so be me. Never learned how to drive stick. I was in Mexico over New Years and we did a Jeep excursion. The tour guide asked if everyone knew how to drive stick and my sis and I went :scared1: They were joking, but I guess they do that on each tour to see how many people they can freak out.

We were dying through the cheese challenge here, too. What a hoot! I had the suggestion that one team member roll them down, while the other played "goalie" at the bottom. Not sure if that would have been allowed, though.
I was thinking the exact same thing. But did you see how fast those suckers were rolling down the hill? I don't think I'd want to be the one at the bottom. They did say that they needed to be carried down, so I doubt they would allow you to do that anyway.

I already love the mother/son team.

One thing I liked was that they showed the time when they were bungee jumping. I like to know how far behind the teams are. I guess they don't do that a lot because that would take away the suspense.

I agree with all the other pps...the cheese scenes must go down in AR history as all time funniest!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I love the mother and son team but also feel like I need to cheer on the older couple (can't remember their names, sorry) since they are from Columbus!

I can't believe how high the bungee jumping off the dam was...it was making me nervous just watching on tv.

They are going to Germany next week! Get the brats and beer ready!!
