The All-New What's For Dinner Thread!!(recipe index in OP)

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: My Mom always wanted me to drive but then she felt the need to "help" me with directions or the always exciting ever welcome....hands flying to the dashboard and EEEEEKKKKKKK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was still better than letting her drive!

I never go anywhere with my mother as driver, I have to close my eyes cause she freaks me out! :scared1: And when she goes anywhere with me she always holds onto the bar in the ceiling with a death grip and tells me it's because she has no place to put her arm! There is an arm rest on the door. :sad2:

If anyone has an extra prayer to spare, I'm asking for it. I'm supposed to have a mammogram yearly, well it's been since 2004...Katrina, my parents passing...I just put myself on the back burner. I'm going for a mammogram this afternoon and kinda scared....:sad1:

Just don't forget to take the targets off.;)

Anyway, I'm fine now, and Alan is not letting me out of his sight! Next stop, the ultrasound! I'll update again as soon as I'm home.

 Take it easy.

 I hope your mom is okay.

She is fine, thanks.

I have my ultrasound at 10:45 a.m. tomorrow morning. Keep up the good thoughts. I'll let y'all know how it goes once I'm home.

Thinking & praying for you.

Dinner really hasn't been happening around here since I've had this bug.

They started my Mom on a cortisone pack this morning for her back, we will see how that works out.

Hope everyone is having a great day!

Maria

 I know the feeling, I did the same thing. It was not as long as you but long enough to catch heck from both Dr's. Kathy, I had a little lump show up but the Dr could not compare it to the previous films because they were kept elsewhere. I guess over three years they are not always handy :rolleyes1. It was nothing but be prepared to have to follow up because of how long between mammograms. I let myself get worried and I should not have.

Anyway, I'm fine now, and Alan is not letting me out of his sight! Next stop, the ultrasound! I'll update again as soon as I'm home.

You are way too far away for this to happen! I never feel so far away from all of you until I want to help. As everyone else has said, please take it easy and let your family look after things. :grouphug:

 I can just picture this.

Good luck!

It is not a pretty picture :rotfl:He is there right now and I am not joining him!

Dinner really hasn't been happening around here since I've had this bug.

This has gone on a while now. I hope it clears up fast. Good luck to your Mom as well!

Glynis - Please let your family take care of you, that was quite a scare. I'm very concerned about you.

Aimee- your poor back! I don't understand why the clerk did not help you. I am still spinning trying to keep up with your summer, fun or not, this is a lot of work.

The clerk was a very sweet young lady who was really not able to lift heavy things very well. Why she was working at Sams, I don't know, but we would have been there an hour if I watched her do it. I had a schedule to keep!

Aimee, Girl, you are having one crazy summer. I hope your back is better today. I forgot to mention, we are dining at Jiko on 11/5 if you are around that day, maybe we can meet up. I have never been to AKL so we are looking forward to it.

I have a tentative outline of plans that week but I am going to change them around to make sure I meet up with you that night! PM me your reservation time - do you want to meet for drinks prior to your meal, or after, or...?

Jiko is fabulous; I celebrated my birthday there last year.

Alan was out of town on the mine story, but I called him and told him what had happened. Luckily, his work is very family oriented, and they sent someone else to cover for him, so he came home early. I spent the rest of the day yesterday in bed. Katie took care of me, and when Alan came home, he did too! I iced the bump on my head, and the knot is gone this morning, but it still hurts! I also iced my rear end, and it feels better, but it's where the majority of the pain is, now. Should be a fun day today!

Anyway, I'm fine now, and Alan is not letting me out of his sight! Next stop, the ultrasound! I'll update again as soon as I'm home.

 I am so scared for you! I hope your head and rear feel better soon.

I am determined to make the Indian chicken tonight. My dad is coming over at some point to visit, I think we'll hit a jazz club later tonight, but he may be here for dinner. He and DH want to go clay shooting in the morning.

GLYNIS.....still waiting for you to return from you appointment.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts....I hope this bug ends soon.

Hi everyone. This is just a quick check in to say Kenny and I are back from our trip to Biltmore and I am now digging out my desk and my house. I fully intend to go back and catch up on everything, but it will probably be some time this weekend before that happens.

I've missed you guys!

Gretchen

Thanks for all the concern! You're prayers and good thoughts mean so much to me.

Ok, now for what you are all really interested in:

IT'S A BOY!!!!!

Next, things look all right! The doctor first looked at the spine, and it's straight and perfect, and no spina bifida! Then he started looking for Down's markers; a measurement in the brain, the skin fold on the back of the neck, eye spacing, cleft lip, heart defect, and kidney function. All of those looked really good! No heart defects, no cleft lip, measurements all within normal perameters! The only "soft" marker was the kidney. Peanut's right kidney was a little bit larger than it should be. Right now, it should be measuring 4.0 cm, but it's measuring 4.1 cm. The doctor said it wasn't enough for him to be too concerned about, but with my age, it does put our chances of having a child with Down's at 2%. Those are odds I can live with! He also told us that it's really common, especially with boy babies, for the kidneys to be a bit enlarged at this point. So, I'm not worried!

I'm excited to hear about your visit to Asheville - I loved that city!

IT'S A BOY!!!!!

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Congrats, momma!!!

I was stopping in to ask for some good thoughts and prayers for my grandaddy. I got a call this morning that he was back in the ER but they didn't know what was wrong with him - I decided to not have my mother tracked down at Animal Kingdom since I didn't have info to tell her. They have opted to admit him to ICU; his blood sugar was over 800 :scared1: They don't know what's wrong yet. His more frequent ER visits are a painful reminder of his age. He's my last grandparent, and the only one I've truly known well (lost the other 3 when I was a child), and I can't bear to think of living without him around.

I got a hold of my mom once she got off work and she's worried but knows she can't do anything even if she flew here. Hopefully the doctors will have some more info for us, though since it's the weekend they may not get much done...

My dad will be here in less than an hour and stay the weekend - he wants to go to church Sunday and refuses to attend any church other than ours  I'm making that indian chicken for us and then we're hitting a jazz lounge and who knows what else. Going bar hopping with your dad is fun, btw.

I so sorry I didn't read on.....I heard the baby news and just stopped in my tracks!
Prayers coming your way, that is so sad when the last of your grandparents are aging and so ill. I still miss my Grandma and there is so much I wish I could share with her.:flower3:

I'm so happy for you, Alan and the kids!!! Please take care.

Hi everyone. This is just a quick check in to say Kenny and I are back from our trip to Biltmore and I am now digging out my desk and my house.

Can't wait to hear all about it!!!:woohoo:

Aimee I hope the doctors are able to get your Granddad blood sugar under control quickly and discover what the problem is.

Glynis I'm glad things are looking good. His is very cute. Take care about the fainting thing. Take care when your standing not to lock your knees. There is a vein or artery (I can't remember which)that runs up the back of your legs. When you lock your legs it compresses cutting off the blood supply. Sorry I forgot about this before, I have to watch out for this. I was a champion fainter when I was young. I was semi famous for fainting while taking communion. I got an exception from fasting because of this.

Missed you too Gretchen! Tell us about your trip when you have a little spare time.

Aimee- I am so sorry. Prayers offered for your Grandpa and lots of well wishes sent your way. Your poor Mom! It has to be very difficult to be so far away. Your head says one thing but your heart is saying something else.

I did not realize she worked at AKL. Now I will have to think that we met her when we were there.

Here he is: Peanut in all his profile glory! Isn't he beautiful!!!

Every time I see an ultrasound I am in awe. What a beautiful little miracle your precious little Peanut is!

Dinner was so easy tonight. Cheeseburgers and fresh cucumbers. Buddy told me he wished he could eat 20 they are so good. :rotfl: We usually only have burgers and dogs in the summertime so he would eat them every night. I am glad about that, I spent the last two full days ironing and was in no mood to stand over the stove.

Hey guys, we have less than 25 pages left on this thread before it's locked. I don't keep track of the pages that closely so I may just start a new one in a few days, what do y'all think?

Thanks for all the good thoughts and prayers for my mammogram, it's just a waiting game now.

Glynis -- Congratulations and I am so happy that everything looks good! He looks like he will be a very adorable boy.

Gretchen -- Welcome back! Did you have a good trip?

Aimee -- Good thoughts for your grandfather. I hope he improves.

ETA : Sounds like a good plan, Kathy. Just let us know where we are supposed to be!
