The All-New What's For Dinner Thread!!(recipe index in OP)

:lmao: :lmao:

Sheryl, my favorite is to use the ingredients Laura told you about, but I boil them until they reduce and get all sticky. Then I sear the salmon on vegetable oil over REALLY high heat--flesh side first. Two minutes, then flip to skin side, two minutes, baste with the glaze. If you want to cook it through, at this point, put it into your preheated 400 oven for another five minutes or so. You can save the extra glaze for the table. Season the salmon with salt and pepper before searing it.

PS: your house will smell like fish. ;)

Um, yes! I like camp food.

Welcome to kimmar067! You are funny.

So, on the 4th, as expected, there was nothing for me to eat at John's aunt's house. There was even red meat in the DIPS. Ridiculous. So, I just drank wine and smiled, whatever. When I got home, I made this:

Yum, nachos! Beavis??

ANYWAY, here is some real food from the weekend. Yesterday we had fried chicken, potato salad, cole slaw, and cornbread with honey butter. I was so hungry from the food-stiffing on the fourth that I think I fried about 72 pieces of chicken. Photos:

How many people did you feed with all this, please do not say 2 ?!?!?!?!
Wow that pesto pizza looks good enough to eat, any leftovers?

....a little bit late, but last night for dinner I made BBQ pork in my crockpot, which, incidentally, is my BESTEST kitchen friend....I took a raw boneless loin of pork and sliced it into 1/2" slices and placed them in the crockpot. Then I sprinkled on garlic salt, pepper, and sage, added 2 oz. water and one small sliced onion and cooked that for 5 hours. After 5 hours I poured Jack Daniels BBQ Sauce on top and continued cooking it for another 1-1/2 hours. YUMMY!

I grew up eating Kielbasa right from the Polish butchers in Wallington...love, love, love that stuff....

....those Polish folks from Wallington do have THE BEST kielbasa! :thumbsup2 [...yup, you are DEFINITELY from around here....]

...Well, hubby only likes Hillshire Farm so that is what I make. We love it grilled...but I am with you...I love sauerkraut too. He likes that plain too...

....I can even put it in a hot dog bun and eat it like that.....YUM-o!

Now can Kenny tell Johnny exactly how he did the steaks? This man has yet to get it right.:rolleyes1

:lmao: :lmao: He must be using my father's method. My dad measures the time necessary on the grill in number of scotch and waters. The chicken on the 4th took several. Steaks take one to two. Pork chops are two to three.

Kenny grilled filets last night. He said "really hot coals" (we use charcoal) and 3 minutes on each side. The steaks were thick. No scotch and water necessary. ;)

Teen boys :headache::headache: My youngest went through a "phase" when we thought that we had dodged that bullet. We had to take the truck away from him and his answer was that was fine, after all he had to start work at 4 AM. Basically that he would get that truck if we wanted him to work. Well I am an early riser and more stubborn that any 17 YO pill so my embarrassed son got to have Mom bring him to work in all my early morning glory and pick him up in my best cleaning clothes :rotfl:

:rotfl: :rotfl: Oh Nancy, I can so see you doing this and the mental image has made my morning. :rotfl: :rotfl: But believe me, I'd do the same thing. There is no way I'd allow the kids to out stubborn me. As a matter of fact, Kenny has a nephew that has wrecked several vehicles and motorcycles due to be irresponsible on the roads. His parents adopted the "what can you do?" attitude, but kept buying him vehicles. Their excuse was that he had to get to school. Patrick idolizes this cousin, so Kenny has made it perfectly clear that the first time P gets a speeding ticket or wrecks his car like his cousin, we intend to buy the worst clunker we can and drive P to school in it every day. Kenny said he would pull right up to the front door, honk the horn and scream "I love you son!" as he lets him out. And P knows we mean it, so I hope the fear of that mortification will be enough to keep him relatively sane behind the wheel.

Good Morning~

Quick check in...gotta get the troops moving here. Anyone else have a hard time with this?

I don't know about the troops because I left mine in bed this morning, but it was hard getting ME going this AM. I'm here at my desk in body, but I'm waiting on my mind to catch up.

That sounds yummy. I love BBQ in the crock pot.

Tonight's dinner is still up in the air. I have defrosted some chicken breasts, so I know it will be chicken at least. I'll probably decide when I run to the store later today.

Have a great day everyone!

I do (did) the same thing too! For years I hated sauerkraut but never had it Lithuanian or Polish style. IT is one of those forbidden foods that i can only have a tablespoon or two of lately. My brother's wife made hers Friday and I was in Heaven.

If Marisa checks in she can give you her Buddy horror stories and he was not even trying to punish her :lmao::lmao::lmao: He was just being Buddy :rotfl::rotfl:

As you all can see, I cannot get out of my own way this morning. I am going to pay for this later :sad2:

....:confused3 what is 'Lithuanian style' ??

I am so offended for Becky, through the past year we have all seen the effort that she puts into good healthy food for her family and friends, that consideration should be extended to her.
Very well said and ITA!!!!

WFD - Beans & Rice Monday with Grilled Sausage.

...my DH is a Celiac - does anyone here ever post gluten-free recipes??

The way his Grandma made, I guess ;). I am Irish so I guessed, and was informed yesterday mine is not like his Mom's. I used bacon and caraway seed in mine. His uncle told me it was like his Mom's. Yesterday Buddy told me his Mom never used bacon and apparently has told me this each time I make it. :lmao:Oh well.

It really is good! This is one of my go to foods when I want to torture my DH. He rarely will not eat dinner, he has to be spitting mad so if one of those times comes up I make this. It takes a long time and smells so good and he loves it. He is a lucky guy that I have not been this mad in years and years :lmao::lmao::lmao:

No, there were 7 adults eating. There are some leftovers but my brother swiped them!

Not sure on dinner yet. I have some leftover chicken from saturday, so probably something with that.

Looks like we won't be seeing him pitch anytime soon, the next two tournaments are out of town and Johnny & I can't go.:sad1:

I'm sorry the game was canceled. Does the season continue throughout the summer?

:rotfl: I may need to use this!

Lauren -- I hope everything went okay with your follow-up.

Liam has a baseball practice this evening, so I am just having the leftover fried chicken, cole slaw and potato salad from the weekend.

The season ends around the 20th of July. I really admire his dedication, he just left for his high school where he continues to work-out, pitch and run. Hopefully Mom will be as dedicated at the gym...I officially start my 5 days a week today!

Tonight it's stuffed pepper stoup and bread.

Bigmerle, I made the Reese cup cupcakes last night myself! I used the mini's though. They are really good except they didn't really melt or anything in the cupcake. It's really funny, when you peel the paper off the cup comes out of the cupcake with it, lol!!! I made peanut butter icing for the tops :)

With the big ones you had to be carefull peeling them and eating them. When biting into them the whole thing would pop off of some of them.

Oh and I used Dark Chocolate frosting. :cloud9:

Tonight will be talapia, roasted beets and some sort of grain.
