I have a crazy day ahead. I am going to visit Mom this morning...its a 2hr roundtrip drive so that eats up most of my day already. Then I am helping distribute Market Day orders after school (I bought alot this month...I hope I have room in the freezer) and then Andrew's concert this evening.

We are eating on the run...possibly sandwiches or what ever suits our fancy from Market Day!

WFD- Crockpot chicken! The one thing my mother makes almost every week and I am tired of it!

She doesn't put any spices or sauces on it at all, and she always serves boxed mashed potatoes that are bland as all get out, stuffing, carrots and then wonders if she should make another veggie or 2.

She then complains about how much gets wasted.

Sounds like my MIL's cooking. The kids hate eating there and almost revolt each time we go. There is always a lot of unseasoned bland food left and she cannot understand why she is eating leftovers all week.

She has asked me for recipes and I share them but they never come out the same. Skim milk is not heavy cream, butter is butter, canned veggies are not the same as fresh and there is mo substitute for seasoning.....any seasoning.....just use something

This is my last weekend off until September so I plan on enjoying it, of course I think it's supposed to rain. Enjoy the rest of the day everyone!

Not sure if y'all remember this - the local community college that has the great baseball program - Delgado (this is where Kyle really wants to go), the head baseball coach called this morning and invited Kyle to lunch early next week, I think this is the beginning........

DInner tonight is leftovers from the week. I think I want chili and buddy will find a way to turn the pork into sandwiches. Last night he was at the greenhouse for a while.Anyway we did not wait dinner but I kept it for him. I started plating some when he was ready to eat and he turned my dinner into a bunch of sandwiches He is the gravy fanatic, he likes potatoes and salad and he left it to put my good dinner on bread

He almost was freezer fodder!

We used to have a very good "relationship" she worked nights and I work days. Then she switched to days and insisted on cooking but it was the same things all the time. The majority of what she made is high fat and calories and finally I had to put my foot down and started cooking for myself again. Every once in a while she makes something and I have to suck it up and eat it or she thinks I'm being defiant. Umm, no I am trying to lose weight and can't continue to eat like that.

Aimee I have only been to one child's funeral and that was one too many I have my night planned around Lost also.

Tonight I feel like experimenting we are have chicken bruschetta rice and a salad and blackberry shortcake for dessert.

Sheryl That pizza looks so good I almost regret my experiment, now I want pizza. A local pizza place makes the most amazing Ranch chicken pizza. Homemade ranch dressing is the sauce, sounds gross but oh so good.

MM I haven't made mayo in years I may have to go back to making it myself. Maybe my son will try it

I'm over it, sort of. I went to help him last night and he was in one ugly mood, his plants had almost fried but they seemed fine when I left at 3:15 , then he heard that 1/2 of the fertilizer order I placed months ago is on backorder. I did not last long, and came home before I broke out in hives , When he came home he slapped the potato bread down on the counter and left the whole grain"cardboard" I buy for him in the drawer! He liked his dinner and I woke up with hives all over my neck

My mom is the same way, when I started eating healthy she started buying all the "crap" for my sister.

She was SOOOOO disappointed to find out my BIL is now eating healthy himself and she can't buy him Hungry Man dinners anymore.

Smaller than a cigar box size- I've added my Chapstick, some safety pins, etc. Just wondering what you all thought was a necessity?

Lori -- Does a credit card count? If not, deodorant, a razor, lip gloss, sunscreen, eyeliner and Motrin. I know that is more than one thing, but that is my emergency kit...and of course, extra underwear.

Travel toothpaste and toothbrush
Granola bar, breakfast bar or meal bar
Extra money and change for vending machine
Bathroom wipes- good for lots of things besides their intended purpose
Sanitizing wipes- always carry these places I am not sure of the bathroom situation, parks, football games (port-a-pots ), or long distance drives (gas station bathrooms ) I am not a hovering person
Female things
Hand Sanitizer
Splenda
Extra meds
Headache meds
Shout wipes
Pen
Small notebook
Deoderant
Brush
Hair bands


I don't carry all of this at once , I pack dependant on where I'm going or what I'm doing.

I have used grouper in a piccata recipe. Very good dish, quick, delicious & lemony!
Serve it over pasta or rice...

sounds delish ...

Grouper, I fried it with a cornmeal batter for the fish tacos. Also baked & pan seared it with a lemon sauce. You can really do anything you want with it.

I was craving pizza last night - see story below...

If you were stuck, away from home, what one thing would you not be able to live without.

May sound strange - but put a pair of tweezers in there. Not just for grooming - but first aid (think splinter) and lots of other uses. I'm always buying a pair on vacation because I never think to pack them....

Alcohol in as many small containers as possible.

So last night I was craving pizza for dinner.
At 7:00 I called and ordered from the local delivery pizza joint.
The guy gave me my total and said it would be about 45 min.
Cool.
At 8:30 - still no pizza - so I decided to call and check on it because I was Starving and it was well past 45 min.
When I called - the little guy (a different one) says "We have no record of your order. Would I like to speak to a manager?"
UH - YEAH!! I'm Gonna Need a Manager!!
So I hold for 10 min while they find a manager and she tells me the same thing - there's no record of my order.
She says - "Can I make you another order and send it to you for free?"
I said "Are you kidding me - I have been waiting over an hour and half for food - I'm not gonna wait again for you to make another order and send it to me - even if it is free. You can just credit my account and I'll use it IF I ever call you guys again" Click.
Sad too - I use this pizza joint a lot. At least once a month. Guess I'll be finding another one...

So I had hot pockets for dinner. DH had pizza rolls. Yummo!!

Tonight - we will be going out for dinner and a movie with some friends.
We GOT to go see the Indiana Jones Movie

I will think about dinner later. I am crawling out of my skin with this rash thing. I almost feel badly that I blamed it all on Buddy, he was feeling badly that his bad mood upset me. Now I may have to admit I have a reaction to something, and Darn! that bugs me! I'm going to try to get into the Dr. this morning.
