somehow I think we have failed the food pyramid test......
We have a little drama we are dealing with with my DSD....uggggggggggggh, kids!
Hey guys! Long time no see!
Isn't the rule that you add together everything the whole family ate and do an average?![]()
Good morning everyone! Another rainy day here! After our summerlike temps the last little while, it seems odd to have the heat back on.
Laura- I thought Harry Potter would be a little to old for her. She's a strong reader so it's hard to find books to challenge her, just because she is capable of reading something doesn't mean she should.
We had to move the 90 gallon fish tank across the room.
I am glad Alan is OK.When are you leaving for London? That is going to be so exciting...Becky may want to go along with you...

HAVE A GREAT DAY ALL!
Becky can certainly attest to this. She read Dracula when she was seven. She was.
When I was trying to get Liam out of the Magic Treehouse and Secrets of Droon series, his teacher suggested giving him lots of nonfiction and magazines (we get Ask, Muse, Ranger Rick, My Big Backyard, Highlights and Sports Illustrated Kids) to build vocabulary and then fiction that wasn't as formulaic and predictable.
Has she read Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH? Liam and Caili both loved that one. The next series for Liam is the Wrinkle in Time series. That would be appropriate for your daughter. The Narnia books would be good too, if she hasn't read them already. I really liked the Wizard of Oz series at that age. They would be an easier read than the others, but they are imaginative and feature some strong, young heroines.
Lauren, You must really be sick of remodeling by now! Happy that your floors are going in, that must mean you're getting close to finishing. That marinade you're using, is that a recipe or a packaged product?

Katie and I leave for the airport at 10:00 p.m. June 1st. We have a red eye to JFK, then leave for London the next morning.
It sounds like someone else is suffering from Teenager. I hope things improve!
... That means tonight is burgers.
Poor choices at age 22...I wish I could say it was a teenage thing and she didnt know better. Well, lesson learned right?!The hard way.
Katie and I leave for the airport at 10:00 p.m. June 1st. We have a red eye to JFK, then leave for London the next morning. I think we have a couple hour layover at JFK, then we are first class across the pond, baby!!! The airline screwed up our tickets, so to compensate, they are giving us first class on that leg! Wish it was first class on the way back, too! Maybe they'll take pity on my sister and me; 2 women alone with their daughters...it'll be worth a try!
Wow, that's a great deal! They are $4.99
Glynis- She has Little House in the Big Woods, I think that's the same author, so maybe that will be next.

Don't feel too bad, could be worse, my stepson is 26 and just keeps making one bad decision after another. He's got 3 babies under the age of 4.

I found them the cheepest at TJ's, another store had them for $4.99. Then yesterday I decided to look at the grocery store near my house, to check and see if they may have had the Oscar Meyer low fat beef franks and found the HN on sale.
Some good books for kids are EB White's Stuart Little, Charlotte's Web and The Trumpet of the Swan. Also I loved Nancy Drew and Trixie Belden.
Well, I finally decided what to make for dinner tonight. Lately, I have to wait and see how I'm feeling before I commit to anything.
YUMM!Aimee, the chicken was delicious.
Here's the pic. I served it with roasted curried sweet potatoes and roasted asparagus & bell peppers.
DBF is leaving in the morning to go on a weekend long fishing (ha-ha they have yet to bring any home) trip with a bunch of friends. YIPEE!!! It's not that I don't love him right to death but a weekend by myself is gonna be great! I have a whole list of things that I am going to try and accomplish, invites for the grad party, quilting, working in the yard, cleaning, and thanks to you guys I might have to try some of these yummy recipes or it's gonna be takeout all weekend.
Hey guys! Long time no see! Sorry I have been absent for a bit. I've had one day off in the past two weeks and tomorrow we're leaving for a wedding in Ohio. It's been extremely busy. So that also means, not much good cooking around here--it's been convience meals or take out! Hope to keep up better in June!

I decided to try Nancy's Greek Potatoes tonight...Oh my, they smell wonderful and they are only in the oven for not even 10 minutes!!!

Well, it's time to put the turkey burgers together. I couldn't find any mango chutney around here today, but I did find some cranberry chutney. Do you guys think that will work. I would think it would complement the turkey....yes?
I'd think the cranberry would work great!
Kyle leaves tomorrow morning for his first road trip to Jackson, MS with the Louisiana Knights baseball team!!! I'm praying he doesn't come down with what I have while he's there.
He also has his "first client".....he was approached by a couple of Little League coaches and asked if he'd have time to give private pitching lessons to some 12 yr old boys. He's really excited about it, although he asked me how much he should charge.....How am I supposed to know?![]()
Sheryl, that looks terrific! I am definitely making this.
I have to go to Liam's recorder concert shortly.I am usually a crier, but I think I can leave the tissues behind today.
We didn't get to have the burgers last night because the propane filling station was closed by the time we got there. I got fried clams from the fish market instead. That means tonight is burgers.

Yes, I am pretty sick of this but we are getting closer. So maybe in a months time we will be done. Now I get try and figure out furniture.
The marinade is a Lawry's. I hope its good in the beef...it says it is. It has tabasco seasoning, lemon, garlic and onion.
