Yes, there are life jackets by the pool at Jambo HOuse. I haven't been to Kidani, but I would guess they do too.

Just wanted to share some excitement with people who "get it" (since this is our 4th trip in a row and some people just don't!)-- we just booked 3 nights at AKL post-cruise with a 40% off pin and I'm thrilled! I've always wanted to stay there but it hasn't been in our cards thus far. We booked a standard room and I'll be super excited no matter what, but of course a girl can always dream of an upgrade, right? :lovestruc

I get it :woohoo::woohoo: we are staying at the AKL for the first time also!!! making one of our dreams come true!!!

We are looking at doing the Sunrise Safari during our AKL CL stay in October. We are planning to head over to Epcot World Showcase afterward. I'm wondering if we will be able to make it there close to when WS opens at 11:00? Anyone who has done the Sunrise Safari remember about how long it takes?

Thanks :)

We get it! We just booked three days after our cruise in May! This will be our third stay. You'll love it! You don't need a sav view room to enjoy the resort, but I hope the upgrade fairy visits you!

Whoohoo!!

I was SO excited last year when we booked a AKL CL room with a 40% discount in Sept and the rate was a ridiculous ~$250. Then I was *crushed* when our plans changed and I had to cancel. :sad2: Congrats on your 40% pin!!!

And I'm finally getting my trip to AKL :banana:

We took it in October and total about 2 hours.

Hello All,

I have a question about the Kidani Gift Shop. I know they sell beverages like Coke and Milk, etc... but do they sell any fresh fruit like bananas?? I can always go over to the Mara, but I was just wondering for convenience purposes.

Thanks!

The inlaws decided to go with us and I called DVC today and Boardwalk has no 2 bedrooms available for our dates. The only choice we liked was the Animal Kingdom Lodge Villa's but they only had Standard available. Please let me know your thoughts on the standard view rooms. It is a dedicated 2 bedroom. Thanks!

My DH just invited his parents to go with us in May. It was supposed to be just the 5 of us for a change. We are also booked into a 2 bedromm standard I am not sure if it is Jambo or Kidani. I want to say Kidani. DH has the paperwork. I would love to know what kind of view this will be. FIL needs a scooter and takes a nap every afternoon. I am hopeing that someone will share what a good room location would be for us.

I can't really remember. I believe that there was some fruit there, but the gift shop seemed small to me.

Hey everyone! For about $20 more, total, I just switched our 2 night ASMusic/4 night Poly split stay to a 2 night AKL/4 night Contemporary split stay and we couldn't be more excited :dance3: We booked standard view since we won't be there very long but might see how much $$ it would be to upgrade to savannah view upon check in.

I haven't read through the whole thread and don't think I'll have enough time since we're officially down to T-minus one week as of today :thumbsup2

Quick question though: I've heard good things about the Victoria Falls Mist drink. I've only heard about it from people eating at Boma, and unfortunately we're only booked there for breakfast. Anyone know if it's also available at Jiko or from the lounge?

Thanks :goodvibes

I'm not sure if the Victoria Falls Mist is served at Jiko or the lounge. If you PM me I will give you the recipe and you can bring it with you. The bartenders will gladly make it for you.

Hi everybody,

I am glad I came upon this thread!! It is great to be able to get information!
I am in the process of planning our vacation this Sept, taking the kids out of school.
My girls , 7,9,11 yrs love animals and AKL Suite with 2 bedroom seems like a good choice.
Off to do further research!

Looking to go that Easter/Spring break week and stay here at AKL. Love this place. Anyone know if there are or will be or should be any codes available for this week?

TIA

Just changed our plans to a split stay with AKL for our last 3 nights!!! So excited. I'm keeping it a secret from my dd8 and my mom (this is our Mother's Day girls only trip). They think we are booked at POP for all 8 nights.

I was able to swing the 3 nights because I had a 40% off pin code. I booked the Standard View. Now I am second guessing myself and wondering if I should have upgraded that to Savanna view. On the one hand, we will probably not get another chance to stay at AKL. On the other, I don't see us spending too much time in our room...

For those who have stayed in a Standard View - did you feel like you were missing out? Will we regret our choice?

We just returned from our first stay at AKL and it was amazing. We had booked a standard view and I too kept wondering if I should have booked the Savanna view, but it just wasn't in the budget for our 8 night trip. We received some pixie dust and were upgraded to a Savanna view bunk bed room. Although the Savanna view was cool, I don't think I would ever pay the extra per night for the view. We also don't spend a ton of time in our room, and even though I had visions of getting up before the kids and enjoying a cup of coffee on the balcony watching the animals, it just never happened. We probably spent about 5 minutes a day on the balcony looking at the animals, with the exception of one night when my son sat out there working on his journal for school. There are a lot of public viewing areas, a few with large rocking chairs to relax in. I don't think you will feel like you are missing out at all. Enjoy your trip with the girls!

Thank you for the offer, but luckily it was on the menu when we ate at Jiko last night... yum

I am not sure how much a selection you are looking for, but I believe they have some fruit salad in the fridge, and some bananas and apples if I remember correctly. You can see a lot of detail in this blog too...
