The All-New "unofficial" AKL/AKV's Jambo & Kidani FAQ thread.....

I just booked two Savannah rooms for myself, DH, twin DD's, DS and my mom and dad. I have noticed that lots of people have been upgraded from standard to savannah view, but has anyone been upgraded from savannah to CL? I am debating changing from savannah view to CL. What do you think?

My sister wants to stay at AKV but she doesn't know which room.

Which is better Kidani 1 bd stand or Jambo 1 bd stand?

I know Kidani has an extra bathroom, but is it worth it because of the bad view?
The stand view at Kidani is it really bad?
I think at Jambo all stand rooms have a pool view.

Or should she just book at Kidani for the extra bathroom?

Thanks :goodvibes

It really depends on how important that extra bath is for your family. We originally booked at Kidani and waitlised for Jambo. Our view is important enough to us that we decided against the extra bath and it was difficult to decide.. Looki at my picture we have 4 daughters and 1 boy... even with that we thought a 2 bedroom with 2 baths would be fine. We have never had a third bathroom anyways since we usually stay at the Boardwalk! :)

Hi!

I have a quick question...

For those of you who have stayed at the AKL in September, about what time is the nightly storytelling around the fire pit?

After our AK day, we plan to eat at Boma, & I'd like to time our ADR so that we can either hear the storytelling before or after our dinner.

AK closes at 5:00 pm, & I was planning to make our ADR for 6:00 pm. However, if the storytelling is at "dusk", we may miss it.

Thanks for the help!!

I'm thinking it was around 6:30-7:00 ... cuz we had an ADR at Boma and managed to catch the story while we were waiting to be called to our table ...

You'll probably miss it with a 6:00 ADR - you may want to make your ADR for 7 - that way you'll be able to relax a bit, take a shower, etc, before dinner ...

Enjoy!!

We love Kidani. When we had a standard view we actually had a perfect pool view. We could actually look to the right and see some of the savannah. We prefer Kidani because of how much quieter it is. We've gone at Christmas and Santa and Stitch was able to spend 10-15 mins with my kids before anyone else even came over. The extra bathroom is just a bonus for us.

I think there are so many nice places in the general resort to view the savannah that a std view there isn't that bad. We took an extended family trip and had 2 Std view 2bedrooms at Kidani and didn't have any issue with it. We prefer savannah view, but std was fine and the point savings allowed for taking so many people.

Hi everyone.

I love this thread! After many changes in housing, we will be at AKV Kidani in a one bedroom savannah view our first night (5 of us) and a 2 bedroom savannah view the next 2 nights (5 plus my mom and sis). Mom has a difficult time walking and I am wondering, does anyone know how many 2 bedroom savannah views there are and whether they are concentrated in one particular area of the resort (for example close to lobby or farthest away on the ends)?

Thanks

Hi. Just looking at booking 1BR at Kidani and was wondering about two things. Is greengrocer.com reliable? The other thing is how comfortable are the sofa couch and pull out chair? There are 5 of us staying and the 1BR is the one offered on the special promo.

I believe that virtually all of the savanna view rooms can be 2 BRs. i.e. they are basically all set up as 1 BR/studio combos so that they can be made into 2 brs.

we use we go shop and they are great! i found them easier than the others, b/c you just send them a list that you type up on word and they shop from that.

Does anyone know the current prices for the Sunrise and Sunset safaris? We are planning to do the Sunset on our first night and are trying to decide if we could budget in the Sunrise as well. Is it even worth doing both?

Thanks. I have read all over the internet the price ranging from $150-$190. I figured it was the higher number (of course I had some wishful thinking) We have been really looking foward to the Sunset Safari. We figured it would be a great way to kick off the trip. My 180 day mark isn't until Easter Sunday  We are staying CL so I am just going to let IPO know ahead of time that we want to book it for our first night.

Anyone have any idea about the price for the Sunrise? Is it worth doing both or should I not feel too bad if we skip the Sunrise?

The Sunrise is around $70.

We haven't done the Sunset, but this will be our third time to do the Sunrise. They are different since the Sunset is at the lodge and the Sunrise is in the park. I have heard good things about the Sunset, but we just haven't ever booked it.

My understanding of the Sunrise is that it is a more in-depth version of KS but includes breakfast... Is that about right or is there more to it?
