The All-New "unofficial" AKL/AKV's Jambo & Kidani FAQ thread.....

We have never done a split stay. Considering one for our October 08 trip and would like to do AKL for 2 nights.

Please offer your insight on what to request Savannah view wise. I plan on reserving this type of room if available. We have a 3 and 4 year old. Bunk Beds (or concierge) are not important, but the animal view is. I don't want to take any chances hoping for an upgrade so I will reserve what we want.

We would have all day Saturday to lounge and enjoy the resort. On Sunday I thought it would be good to go AKL....could we then just take the bus over to GF (I am assuming Disney would have our bags transferred over there on Sunday morning check-out). Wait, or would we have to first check in at GF to get our tix (planning room only at AKL).

I am so sorry to bother you with questions that have already been asked a bazillion times (Please forgive me). I had read through some of the old thread and this one but couldn't really pinpoint what to request. Thank you all for your insight.

Warmly~

If your tickets are part of a package with your GF portion, then you will need to go check into the GF first thing in the morning before you head to the park.

Yes, they will transfer your luggage for you.

Have an awesome time & feel free to ask more questions.

If we are staying at another resort, can we go to AKL just to see the animals? Are night vision goggles available only to AKL guests? :magnify:

You can go to the resort and view the animals and use the night vision goggles even if you are not resort guests. Have a wonderful trip!

The request I find to be OUR favorite is:

Zebra trail, Arusha Savannah View, near the elevator down to the pool.

The Arusha Savannah is the central savanna, and seems to be the most popular....but the other 2 savannas have their fans, too, so that one's all about personal preference.

I prefer Zebra trail because it has closer access to many of the resorts facilities. It's on the same side of the resort as Boma's, Jiko's and the pool. I request being near the elevator down to the pool because it makes access to those places, and the Mara, the arcade, the pool bar, etc.

On my ressie for AKV it says 2BR L/O Sav View Jambo

L/O must be lock off

the map I thought I requested to be near an elevator that takes you to the pool and close to the lobby (on Zebra Trail) but I don't see that request on there. DM is going and she has a bad ankle so I was hoping to minimize her walking.

Any help deciphering this would be appreciated.:flower3:

For DVC, it's the 5th floor unless you are concierge level. Then it's the 6th floor.
Thanks Atotty, ok so we will be on the 6th floor.

I also find this info very helpful. Thanks again Pilferk!!!
Would it be wise to have the person I am renting DVC points from, call back and make a more specific request such as, (Arusha Savannah view on Zebra Trail near the elevator down to the pool) now or should just wail until check in day?

In fact I thought I had already asked her to make that request for me, but it is not on the ressie confirmation?
Would that show up on my reservation confirmation if she had made the request for me?
thanks again and sorry i have so many questions!

I don't recall if I saw the requests printed on our confirmation or not.

I'll check, tonight, to see.

Oh, and best to make requests as early as possible.

We are currently booked at RAK rate for a Savannah View room. Does anyone know what the cost would be to upgrade to a Conceirge Level room? Aren't they all Savannah View rooms?

Where can I find updated Concierge information? EVerything that I have found has been at least 2 years old. We are staying concierge in early Dec and I would love to see pics of the offerings.

Thanks

Hi all! My family has stayed at AKL probably 4 or 5 times in the past, but with my youngest's 3rd birthday (making us an official "family of 5") and the demise of the deluxe rooms, suddenly we couldn't stay at AKL anymore, and had to settle for POR for our last few trips. But this December we're biting the bullet and have reserved two connecting pool view rooms at AKL, and I am beyond excited!  :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl::yay: :yay: :yay: I was working on our itinerary a bit yesterday, and when I added "breakfast at The Mara," I actually got a little teary-eyed. I'm such a dork, but I've missed AKL so much-- we've visited for dinner and the children's activities, but I just haven't felt "at home," like when we've been guests there. So, I'm a dork:dance3: , but I just had to share my excitement.

I too am renting points. I called directly to make my room requests. I did not go through the person I was renting points from. I called 2 numbers, but I don't recall which did the request for me so I will give you both. I found these numbers on my confirmation letter. I believe it was Member Services, though.
Disney Animal Kingdom Villas: 407-938-3000
Member Services: 800-********
I hope this helps.

Sorry about the number. The Mod Squad must have deleted it. I guess I was not supposed to post it.:confused3 Anyway, your confirmation letter should have the number on it.

Thanks for trying! I wonder why that # is so hush hush.
Anywho, I actually do have my conf. letter for the AKV so I'll check it tomorrow for the #. I didn't think that as renters we could call Member Services ~ I thought that they would only speak to the owners. Maybe it was the hotel # that you called to get that request. I see your trip is after mine so I guess it's not too early to call. Were they able to pull up your info on their computer?

I'm almost positive it was Member Services. I thought you weren't supposed to either. I just gave it a shot. I figured all they could say was no. I gave them my name, ressie number, and the person's name I bought the points from. They had no problem adding my request. Have a great trip!:)

Hi everyone! For all of your AKV members or hoping to be AKV members, I was talking with my guide today (Yes, I was adding on more points. ) and she said that multiple UYs are currently sold out. She said that she didn't think that they would have more points until this summer. Hmmm... Does that mean what I think it means?

By the way, I have an August UY and there are still August points available.
