My daughters have a room only ressie at AKL on 8/1. We move over to BC the next day to start our package. I splurged and got us a Savannah room-- we will arrive around 6 p and plan to spend the evening watching the animals and hanging out at the resort. Which Savannah should I request? We want see giraffes more than anything with zebras and maybe some ostriches.
:cool1:

Welllllll...you're going to have to pick, to some extent.

Arusha will have the Zebras and giraffes. It's, quite frankly, my favorite savanna.

The ostriches are, I believe, on the sunset savanna....but there are no zebras on that side of the resort, if memory serves me right.

I saw giraffes, zebras and ostriches on the Sunset Savannah one morning. The ostriches were chasing the giraffes! :thumbsup2

Request Arusha, 2nd floor, Zebra Trails wing and you will definitely see zebras and giraffes. We had a room towards the end of the wing and had a half dozen zebras and 3-4 giraffes outside all the time.

Sub. we will be there in August and looking for as much information as I can about AKV.

I am thinking about booking a 1BR suite with a 20%discount in October. I am looking for any info regarding this. I stayed at AKL last year and loved it.

What do you do on your arrival day at the AKL/AKV?
What do you do on check out day at AKL/AKV?
I was hoping to get some feedback from others who have stayed there. (or if you have a planned trip there what you think you might do)

We are staying at AKV in June for 5 nights and the POP the night before. We were going to start off the morning at MK and then at noon head on over to AKV and then just hang out there for the rest of the day ~that evening we have an 8pm ressie at Chef Mickeys.

On the last day I kind of what to stay in the room as long as possible and enjoy our view and maybe have our breakfast in the room. Then I was thinking I might want to make a ressie at noon at Boma (although we will have to pay out of pocket cuz we will have used up all of our TSM from the DDP) Then not sure if we should head back for a little MK action.

We plan on checking in and then relaxing at the pool. (This will be our drive down day.) We'll eat at Boma and then check out the night vision goggles if we're still up for it.

Check out day, we're moving over to Universal hotel so we'll prob just order room service for bfast and relax on the balcony.....maybe one last swim and walk around the viewing areas of the Savanna.\

I hate to leave AKL. It's my fav hotel anywhere.

:)

On my ressie for AKV it says 2BR L/O Sav View Jambo

L/O must be lock off

Where is Jambo? I looked on the map and am not sure which trail it is on. Is it the 5th and 6th floor of all of the trails? I thought I requested to be near an elevator that takes you to the pool and close to the lobby (on Zebra Trail) but I don't see that request on there. DM is going and she has a bad ankle so I was hoping to minimize her walking.

Any help deciphering this would be appreciated.:flower3:

For DVC, it's the 5th floor unless you are concierge level. Then it's the 6th floor.

Your ideas sound fine to me, except that you can't make a noon reservation for Boma. Sorry... :guilty: They are open for breakfast from 7:30-11:00 and dinner from 5:00-10:00. Hope that helps!

ahhh thanks.:goodvibes I do remember reading that now. Hmmmm... too bad. I guess I'll have to rethink that one.

We will be there July 2nd, and we are starting off our trip with a bang...The Hoop Dee Do Review! :yay: We will arrive AKV early afternoon, unpack, and then head for MK. We won't have very long at the park as our ressies are at 7ish. We will be there just long enough to get the magic started. We will take a boat to Hoop Dee Doo, and have a ball. We will take a boat back to MK, and if the timing is right, we might get to see the fireworks on our way back. I think it would be beautiful to see them while out on the water. :)

1) We typically do a 1/2 day at the parks on both check in and check out day, provided we arrive early enough. For our December trip, for example, we're actually not going to be "on the ground" until around 6 or 7 PM. That will probably mean dinner and bed for our crew. :) Check out day, though, we do lunch in the parks, and then head out....usually by around 2:30. Keep in mind, this is from a family that drives, so we're not tied to a flight schedule.

2) I'd actually head over from the POP EARLY and check in at AKV. Your room will likely not be ready, but you can get your room keys, etc. Let Luggage Services move your luggage from POP to AKV (do the budget resorts offer this?? I know the mods and deluxes do). After check in, just head to the park for the day, and head back to AKV when you call and they tell you your room is ready. Or later in the day, if you've got stuff you want to do in the parks.

3) Just a heads up: Boma is not open at noon. Breakfast and Dinner, only. I think the last seating for lunch is at 11 or 11:30....so you could move your ressie back a bit and do "brunch".

Yes - the value resorts do this. We stayed at All-Star Sports our first night then switched to AKL. We checked out about 7:30 in the morning and left our luggage there to be transferred. I took a taxi over to AKL to check in while DH took the kids to the food court for breakfast. We met at rope drop at MK, spent the day there, then returned to AKL in the late afternoon. We just had to check in at bell services to get our luggage and they brought it to the room for us. It was very smooth and we had no problems. :thumbsup2

:worship: :worship: Thanks Pilferk and CJ's Mom, by the way I have been enjoying both of your TRs!!! You both have been really helpful.

Ok maybe we will try this. I would be a little nervous about meeting up at the rope drop though. We could use our cell phones to locate oneanother. We will have a car so maybe we could just all go to AKL together I could get the kids breakfast there.

If you have a car I think that would work great! You could all go over together and DH can bring the kids down to the Mara for some breakfast while you check in. They have tv's in there with the old Mickey cartoons so they would be entertained (actually they have the tv's in the lobby too so they could wait for you there). Have some breakfast, then all hop on the bus together - sounds like a plan to me! :thumbsup2

cool thanks!:thumbsup2

Does anyone know which beverages can be put in refillable mugs at Mara? Is there anything besides coffee and soda? Is there any juice or punch?

Thanks!
