I have read how in the deluxe resort, Disney provided box lunches since there are resturants in the building, and entertained the kids. How did the people in Pop or the All Stars do for food since alot of people do not have cars to go get food in advance.

We will be staying in the Pop without a car soon and I was wondering.

I have read how in the deluxe resort, Disney provided box lunches since there are resturants in the building, and entertained the kids. How did the people in Pop or the All Stars do for food when the food court is in another building and alot of people do not have cars to go get food in advance.

Thanks, Tyler!! Well, there is not *any* good music from the 90s imo ;) oldfogeyalert. and rap or hiphop at any volume would make me ill! *chuckle* I'm currently 'scheduled' to be in the 70s though so I guess I'll be fine. I was just looking at the theming of the 90s pool thinking it was pretty cool when the music thought popped right into my head (that had to hurt!)

Please take care of yourself during the storm Tyler!

A grateful,
Sherry

I wouldn't let the music influence you. We stayed in the 70s buildling. I'm not much of a fan of disco or most I don't really remember the music except for my step dad saying he wishes they would have waited a little longer to start it in the morning. The music fit in very well with the resort.

Here is my presentation that I put together for Pop Century

I'm going to repeat a question that maybe got overlooked a few back...

In the event of a hurricane (Ivan), what happens when you're staying at Pop as far as food goes. From what I've read about being in the deluxes, they let you come to the lobby and get boxed meals, but with exterior corridors at Pop (and other values and mods), how do they handle it? Are you confined to your room, or are you allowed to venture to the lobby as long as it's not terrible weather at that time? Are there opportunities to get food?

We just weathered Hurricane Frances at home in south Florida - all boarded up with no power for more than a day leads to a hot, dark house full of bored people! We're scheduled to be at Pop this weekend, so we've decided we'll be there, even if Ivan comes! Better than being stuck in our own house again! But I was wondering if I need to bring lots of food just in case. Thanks for any info!

MelissaR - Just returned from Pop - stayed through Frances. As long as it was still safe for guests, the food court remained open. In fact it was open throughout the night on Friday night so that everyone could get food. I believe that they closed up around 4:00 on Saturday and reopened around 5pm on Sunday. Before the storm they were selling 2 different sized styrofoam coolers. Ice is available on every floor (became a bit sparse once everyone started to fill their coolers but their machines are really quite efficient). They told us to be prepared to stay in our rooms for up to 30 hours. We had an electric cooler with us but filled up some ziploc bags with ice and put them into it just in case we lost power.
As for food - we bought a large pizza, nachos, salsa, cheese sauce, chef salads, milk, cereal, at the food court. I would bring non-perishable items with you as these are a little pricey. I put the pizza slices into ziploc bags and into the cooler for a cold pizza supper. We were given paper plates with the pizza. They also had sandwiches, baked goods, subs, caesar salads, cut up fruit etc. Also - the food court was extremely busy everytime we went but they moved people through very quickly.
I think we ate more in the 2 days that the parks were closed than we did on the days that we were busy.

Just made my ressies for Dec 17-22 for Pop Century and after reading this MASSIVE thread, I am even more excited. We are regulars at the All-Stars but this is our first trip to PC. Can't wait.

P.S. First post on this forum too.

Hi everyone! We have made our ressies for January.

Had a question.... I have seen that there are marathons going on during our stay. Are these a pain running through the parks??? Just wondering cause I'm doubting my "great" idea to stay at this time.

ALSO....am I too close to MLK Jr. Day? Is it going to be totally packed????

We went to Disney December 29-Jan 6...we got married on Dec 28...anyway, it was crowded but SURPRISINGLY NOT crowded...we booked for Jan because the books have said this is a GREAT time to go. Will this be true for my choice of days???

How long will the Classic Hall be decorated for Christmas. I know we were there In January and it was still all up on the 6th. January 2005 we will be there on the 8th and I just wondered if it will still be up. Not concerned about it, just wondering.

Courtney:confused:

Melissa - we just "weathered" Hurricane Frances at Pop. For several days leading up to the storm, letters were delivered to the room informing us about the storm and the possibility that we would need to stock up on non-perishables. They also left several phone messages with updates.

We were told that Everything Pop would close about 4 pm on Saturday and would not reopen until the stormed passed. It reopened the next day around 5:30 pm. (we were told by phone message again) We were asked to stay in our rooms for this time. I knew days ahead that the storm was approaching so we had stopped at one of the Hess Stations to stock up on water bottles and soda. We also had cereal, fruit cups, crackers and peanut butter brought from home. So, we didn't starve although everyone looked pretty happy to be "set free" on Sunday evening. I thought Pop kept us very well informed and seemed to have extra staff available both prior to and just after reopening the food court.

Hey ChairborneRanger,

Are you going to do room schematics for the ones with a king bed and ones the for special needs guests?

Does anyone know if and what things have been harmed by the hurricane. Does anyone have recent updates. Have the parks had any damage. I hope that everyone can make the most of their trips. What a huge bummer!

Courtney:wave:

We were at POP during Charley. We did not see a tremeous amount of damage except for some trees down and a couple of signs that had been bent. As far as the parks, we really only saw a tree down in the Kindom and another at MGM, my thoughts are that they have probably been replaced by now.

Babyfatt

I don't have all the data to create a layout for the king bed rooms. I have never even seen one. I know how big a King bed is. I have templates etc. I don't know how far off the bathroom wall it is, where the nightstand is, how the bathrooms are laid out etc. I'll gladly make a floorplan if someone can get me thae data, or at least a bunch of pics where I can do comparative measurement and get reasonable close.

Do the king bed rooms have the same dresser/t.v. combo?
the same nightstand?
the same table?
the same chairs?
Are the bathrooms the same layout as the standard, just a roll-in shower with seat replaceing the tub?

I'll do my best once I can get some info.

I stayed in a King room NON handicapped in the 80's A building on the 4th floor room xx67. I have pics on a disc if you have email access, can't post them as attachments here.

I love the room layout page. It really helped me pick out some room options. Can anyone tell me if any of these are non-smoking rooms? These are all in 70's building B #10

Thanks

dgaston, I have email set up with my profile. Please send me your photos of the king room.

Thank You!
