The All New Pop Century FAR OUT FAQ Thread!

On a more positive, fun note...

I just posted 5 pages of Pop Century pics that you can access at the following URL:

http://users.hartwick.edu/heydukr/popcentury1.htm

Thanks SO much to all the people whose pics I "borrowed" for this site...I hope it can become a centralized site for photos and maps, etc. A special thanks to Tyler and to Stephen Johnson.

The server should be working fine now...but the first time you go to the site, it will take a while for the pics to load. If you see a bright orange background, you are connected, so be patient...the pics will load eventually. Once they've loaded, it will be much quicker the next time.

Hope you all enjoy!

Tyler and others-

I'll admit that things look a little worse for Central Florida this morning...BUT the wind and rain estimates you quote seem way out of line to me (especially the wind part). Still, it's a nasty storm, and some areas are going to get it really bad...but still more likely the East Coast. Good luck and our prayers.

Indeed, it does... but *shrug* that's what the local weathermen were saying last night. At any rate, I'd rather overestimate, and say "It wasn't so bad" than to not be ready and go "Whoops!" like so many did for Charley. lol

You will want to grab the latest and greatest. I included information on the King Bed and disabled access rooms.

WHOOPS- I do have a copy of your "latest and greatest", but I inserted the earlier one by mistake...will replace it tomorrow!

I know somewhere in this massive thread was an address to use for pop on mapquest. Does anyone remember what it is?

Use this address:

6000 W. Osceola Parkway, Kissimmee, Florida 34746

It's for the Gaylord Palms, about a mile or two away. That's the closest MapQuest can get you.

Using Expedia.com, you can use:
Victory Way, Orlando FL, 32830.

Just be sure to double check that it doesn't bring up the Downtown Orlando address.

I read the whole thread. Really! But I didn't see the answer to this one. Given Frances I honestly don't expect Tyler to chime in. But for those of you who have been there...

I was looking at some pictures of Pop and realized that the theme pools might have music from the decade. Perhaps even the 70s 80s etc buildings 'themed staircase' too?

So I wondered if you noticed, and if it were so?

If so I might consider moving to the 50s. LOL. I'm SO not a fan of hip-hop, rap, and a lot of the music of recent decades.

I would appreciate this info :)

Each decade will play a mix of 75% decade music, and 25% other music. Classic Hall will play a mix of everything.

It's all GOOD music from every decade, so I wouldn't worry about it. Besides, it's background music.

Well, so far not a lot has happened. It just started to rain an hour or so ago, and a little bit of wind, but not much.

I personally am going stir crazy... this storm is taking forever to get here! We all just want it to be over with already.

I hope everyone does well down there. Everytime I see a new update they say, "We are still waiting" Good luck!
We are thinking of all you in Florida.

Tyler et al-

I can just imagine how the waiting and waiting must be getting to people.

I've been watching streaming video of Channel 9 Orlando's coverage...looks like FINALLY the eye wall of the storm is starting to move inland. Vero Beach is going to get the worst of the center of the storm, but there are also possible tornados coming in around Cape Canaveral.

It will still be a long night and half-day tomorrow around Orlando and Disney...but I'm hopeful that when it's over it won't be a disaster.

Good luck.

Thanks, Tyler!! Well, there is not *any* good music from the 90s imo ;) oldfogeyalert. and rap or hiphop at any volume would make me ill! *chuckle* I'm currently 'scheduled' to be in the 70s though so I guess I'll be fine. I was just looking at the theming of the 90s pool thinking it was pretty cool when the music thought popped right into my head (that had to hurt!)

Please take care of yourself during the storm Tyler!

A grateful,
Sherry

It's not rap or hip hop, though...

Tyler: Maybe this is a chance for you to experiment with that thing called "sleep!"

We're due down for a quick long weekend on the 17th. We enjoyed our stay at Pop so much in August we're *gasp* not doing a Priceline hotel on our arrival night from CT but staying again at Pop before DH's birthday weekend at WL. Sure hope Ivan doesn't want to visit WDW too!

Hi,

Question: I notice in pics of Pop the sidewalk in some areas is multi-colored and swirly. Can you tell me what this surface is made out of? Is it indoor outdoor carpeting or colored concrete or what? Looks cool - just curious - thanks!

I'm thinking you're meaning by the Hippie Dippie Pool? If so, it is concrete.

Sleep??? What's that???

LOL... I think I got enough sleep this weekend to last me a few months! :)

This is for Tyler, or for anyone there....

Does anyone know about any damage or changes for later this week, due to the storm? My Sister and Nieces and Nephew are on the way there tomorrow and I was just wondering what it's like there, and since they're driving... in the surrounding areas.

Well, most of the trees that could fall were knocked down during Charley. Cleanup from Frances will take awhile of course, but all will be fine when they get down here. Crews are working 'round the clock to restore everything.
