The All New Pop Century FAR OUT FAQ Thread!

Hey Tyler, me again. :wave2:

I've got a couple of questions regarding check-out:

1. Is there some type of easy check-out? What I mean is, if I verify I have a zero balance on my room account the night before, that on the day I leave can I call the front desk and not have to worry about standing in line in the lobby? I leave early for the airport and don't want to be stuck with everyone else checking in or out.

2. Can I pay for room charges (phone calls mainly) before check-out to speed up the check-out process on the last day.

3. I know you have answered my question regarding applying traveler's checks at the front desk so I can use my room key for purchases throughout WDW but in reference to question 1, if there is any amount left over can I "withdrawl" the money the night berfore check-out?

I hope I'm not sounding to repetitive.

Oh! A bonus question I thought of a few days ago: If the three All-Star resorts share the same buses, is there a likelyhood that when the Vintage Years is opened it will share buses with the Classic Years?

I don't think this has been mentioned in this thread, but what is the tax rate at POP century? Is it in Osceola County(I think that's the name) like the All Stars where they have the higher tax rate?

I stayed at All Star Movies and hadn't realized they had a higher tax rate until half way through my trip, so just want to check that out before I get to POP in June.

Thanks

They are in a different county, so their tax rate is lower than the All-Stars. It's 11.5% at POP.

YES! Just touch the Front Desk on your phone.

YES! Just touch Front Desk on your phone, or stop on down to the desk at your convenience. As long as you don't make any charges, or phone calls after you do this, you will be all set.

Of course!

Yes, and No. During peak times like mornings, late afternoons, and evenings, the buses will be separate. However, my guess is that from 11-3, some locations might combine them, as the crowds will be much much much lighter then. But, during the heavy times, MOST DEFINETLY they will be separate.

Just back from my first stay at Pop Century stayed in the 80's and had a great time. Everything was wounderful and the resort is so much fun. Sorry Tyler I checked several times for you but didn't ask for you because didn't want to embarrass you.

Bus service was great, food court was best I have ever eaten in, pools are fun for the children, and we all loved the Icons, Mr & Mrs PotatoHead are a must see.

Thanks again Tyler we had a great trip.

Glad you enjoyed your stay. As for embarrassing me, don't worry. All my co-workers have come to expect people to be looking for me! :)

:D Thanks for the answers Tyler!! :D

Now I just got to wait eight months before I'm airborne for Florida.

I know I'll think of something else between now and then to ask.

Thanks again!!!

hi,

a question on the rooms in the 60's buildings..
I am wanting to get a king ajoining with two doubles are there many of those in that building...
and am thinking we may want to be on the back side of the building facing the lake... can you see the lake from the back and what are the best rooms.... I originally asked for ground level but am thinking the top floor may be quieter. also are the elevators far from certain rooms... are the buildings very big so we have to walk far to our rooms from the elevators?

are you better off to only request one thing? the ajoining rooms is the main thing. Are the views from the 60s all good....
also nonsmoking is very important....I am thinking that should not be a problem....

and lastly does anyone know when the new buildings 1900 to 1940's will open? we will be going summer 2005.

Did your children swim in the bowling pin and/or hippy dippy pool? I'm trying to find out which pool seems to be better. Thanks!

Hi Tyler! We are coming June 5-12 and can't wait to get there! We are coming with several other couples, so I know we will be utilizing the pool bar. Do you have any idea what the pool bar hours will be for June? Also, do they serve food, as well as drinks? If so, what kind of food do they have?

There are a limited amount of king bed rooms in the preferred section. Building 5 has six standard kings that connect to standard doubles. No 4th floor kings. I don't think they face the lake, either.

Building 4 has 24 accessible king bed rooms. These rooms feature wheelchair accessible showers (no tub). They do connect with a standard double room. I believe at least 4 of them are smoking, and a few of them might face the lake.

Please keep in mind that king beds cannot be guaranteed, and guests with medical needs will get priority to the accessible rooms. When making requests, make sure to put priorities. For example, "We NEED connecting non-smoking rooms, but would LIKE a king bed in one of them, and if possible, it'd be nice to have a lake view."

To be honest, I don't know the hours of Petal's Pool Bar... but they're open in the afternoon, evening, and night. There's also Classic Concoctions, the lounge inside near the food court. That one would have your best options for food. I think Petals has snackish foods... but the food court is not far away... few steps.

thanks tyler for the info...

can I get to my reservation and put in requests online or do I need to call the request the changes?

when are they going to finish the classic years resort?

I was hoping someome might be able to give me a little info about rooms in the 50's building A or the 70's building B on the first floor close to the food court. I would like to try and make a request!

Thank

We stayed in the 50's Building C (1st floor) back in February & that area was very quiet & convenient to the Food Court and the Bowling Pin Pool & laundry. We parked in the parking lot near the lake so it was a quite a walk to the parking lot. There is also parking near 50's Building A, but it still is quite a walk & that lot is more crowded. Depending on what you're looking for, the 50's Building C was a nice area. Enjoy your trip... POP CENTURY is awesome! Cathie & The Gang :wave2:

Tyler,

The last time I visited I had stayed at the All Star Music resort - and they had what is called the white glove treatment. Does Pop have this program also? Another question I had is - does Pop Century have their "own" trading Pin?

Thanks!
Sin

Sorry I missed your post until now, we stayed in the 80's with the Computer Pool, so they swam there and also the Hippy Dippy Pool, never made it down to the Bowling Pin Pool.

Out of the two they liked the Hippy Dippy Pool with the flowers spraying water, but it was a little chilly at night, so they where just happy we let them swim.

As far as I know, that was part of the American Express package deal... (I could be mistaken) Now that we have Visa as our official card, no more white glove.

First timer question (I don't know if this should go here or not but...)

I bought the "dream maker" package on the Disney Visa 7 for 4 deal. We are staying at POP Century.

My question is: How (or when) will we get our tickets? (UPH) Do we get them at check-in from POP? The trip must be prepaid on the Disney Visa before arrival. Do I need to bring my reservation confermation? My Disney Visa bill?

Sorry, but I've never done this before so I don't know how this works.

thanks

If I'm not mistaken, they will be part of your Keys to the World. (aka room keys, that also work as tickets, and optionally charge cards)
