Tyler, do you know if it's possible to adjust your room rate when you check in?

I just got AAA yesterday. We check in on Friday so I don't think CRO has my reservation now. If AAA rates are still available (which I doubt), will I be able to apply that rate when I check in?

thanks so very much Tyler - I am checking in May due to your posts....

thanks so much!!!

I can check in at 7:00am - right? yes I know the room might not be ready until 4:00pm.

We had three (I think we had 441,443,445) rooms in the B 70's building (eight track tape) March 18th and 19th. We loved this location.
We arrived around 1 in the afternoon. Had 13 people in our group, of which 2 were seniors and one was a 16 month old. We had been up since 5 am and had flown in froom KC. When we arrived there was only 1 person in line in front of us. We had Roy checking us in. ( I asked if he heard about the DIS or Tyler and all he had was a blank stare)
All started out good. Rooms were paid in full just needed to check in. Since we had three rooms they had us down as a magical gathering. This turned out to be a HUGE problem. I guess 2 of the 3 rooms where ready but the other was not. After what seemed to take longer then any other check in process Roy gave us they keys to the rooms but would not tell us the location. We were told we would need to call back at 3 to get the room numbers:confused: We explained that 3 adults (the 2 seniors and 1 other adult) were leaving right away for a trip to Ocala to visit a relative they had not seen in 20 years. The rest of the group only would like to get into ONE of the rooms so we could freshen up and put the baby down for a nap. NO WAY would they let us even have ONE of the ready rooms. Leaving the front desk angry we waited until 3 and called for our room numbers only to be told again that only 2 of the three rooms were ready. I explained our situation again and the lady I talked to understood and gave us the room numbers. BUT She said it was Disney's policy not to give out the room numbers if ALL the rooms were not ready if you had booked the magical gathering. First of all we never asked for the magical gathering and had been told about the POLICY that went along with the magcial gathering we would have made three seperate reservations.
So this is a warning for any of you that have more then one room booked under the magical gathering.
As a side note: During check in Roy told us that we had 2 connecting room with another room right next door and that one of the connecting rooms was ready but since it was a connecting thats why we could not get in:confused: Thats when I asked if we could at least get the one room next to the 2 connecting since it was ready NO WAY. AFTER we got the room numbers we found that the BOTH connecting rooms were ready the whole time and the room that was next door was still getting cleaned(the cleaning cart was at the door) SO the whole time we would have been inside the 2 connecting rooms!!!!!!!
The rest of the stay was wonderful. We loved the resort and will stay again (making sure we make seperate reservations for EVERYONE)

We're hoping to stay in the 70's section... what building numbers should I request??

Anyone know???

Tyler,

It was nice meeting you in person last Saturday. I'm so glad I ran into you.

Thanks for the wealth of information you provide here. You really helped make our trip so terrific by being prepared ahead of time. We had a great time at Pop Century in the 70's!

Thanks again for all you do,
Susan

Hi everyone,
I am back with another question. Has anyone ever sent a package to Pop prior to your arrival? If so how many days ahead did you send it? Where did you meet up with it? Was it in your room?

thanks!

Tyler,

I'd like to call Pop Century to confirm our reservations and requests but can't seem to find the phone number. Is there a toll free number? Will they have assigned our room already?

I am arriving with my DH, DD& and DS7mos. Would you recommend any building (or rooms) in particular? We will be checking in this Sunday, likely between 2 and 3 pm. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks!

:happy1:  :Pinkbounc
4 more sleeps to go! Can't wait to get there. Hoping that all of our snow will melt while we're gone!

The number for Pop Century is 407-938-4000. They cannot give out room numbers until the room is clean, and available on that day. Sorry...

Hi everyone - I just got back from our Florida Vacation! We stayed at the PoP Century Resort for two nights last week. I loved the look, gaudy as that may be. I really liked Goofy's PoP Jets, although some didn't seem to be working, and the gift shop and cafeteria, Everything PoP was great. The resort is really huge and they do nothing to stifle that feeling, its big and crowded and you will know it, although with the multitude of pools, there is little feeling of claustrophobia when you go swimming. When we drove up to check in you could see the firework from IllumiNations from the parking lots.

I had requested, upon Josh's suggestion, rooms on the fourth floor of the '50's building #2, in order to see the fireworks from our room, but due to a flight connection issue we got in two hours later than we expected which caused inumerable problems.

Check in was a nightmare. There was only two other families in line before us, and it took us a good 15 minutes to even get to the desk at which point everything went south. My reservation was completely screwed up which granted, could have been CRO's fault too. I did not have my requested rooms, in fact, I didn't have both the rooms I needed, but it showed I had paid for and reserved two rooms - PROBLEM. They were completely booked which gave us such problems just trying to find the two rooms we needed let alone that they were to be connecting and both have two double beds. There was no indication that they had received either my noted CRO room request or my faxed request, in fact everyone at the front desk, and we met several due to the complications with making sure we had the two rooms our party needed, were fairly unpleasant to us - no Disney Magic was felt by anyone I was traveling with. I wanted to scream at the top of my lungs that this all was not my fault, I am tired, please just get me a room to lie my head down in. I have a two year old so this all was getting to be really irritating since the best they could do was put my party in two rooms at opposite ends of the building, but at least we were in the same era which was better than they started with an offer of.

OK - so that was over with, 45 minutes later, so we went into Everything PoP and got some dinner to go. I had a most awesome salad - Beehive salad with Peaches, Grilled Chicken, Blue Cheese and Walnuts. My DH had a wrap and we got a Spinach and Asiago Cheese Dip and a Feta an Olive Dip with homemade Bagel Chips for my son to snack on. This was great and we brought it all back to the room along with some provisions for breakfast. Everyone else chose to forgo as it was so late but wished they hadn't the next morning. They have a great grab and go section.

I woke up early and explored more of the resort - it is very cute and I love the '70's section with the disco lights, the twister games and the foosball players and ball. We were finally placed into the farthest possible room in the '90s. Oh, by the way, parking is an issue, but we were able to find spaces relatively close to our room in the '70's lot. The majority of the parking is located out back behind the '90's and '80's buildings. I do believe the reports that the parking is less of an issue over in the '50's section, but alas I did not find out for myself as I didn't get my requested location and was just lucky to get a room at all. I don't feel there is any reason to get the preferred rooms if you don't have issues with mobility. All the pools are great and all the different buildings are in a very easy walking distance to the main building. Well, that is unless you happen to have our luck and get stuck out back in the '90's building, then its a good five minute walk.

When everyone else woke up we drove over to MK - which was probably a mistake, but I therefore can't comment on the buses, but they looked really adequate for the amount of people waiting from our building view which looked out at the bus stop.

On the day of our checkout, we got up late and all went to the PoP Jets and the Kiddie Pool which we all though were fabulous areas. We left a hefty sum at the gift shop (my mood ring broke not five minutes after we left the resort so beware), and all agreed that we liked the resort for such a short stay but probably would not do more than a few days there.

That's all I can think of right now to report on about the resort. Its a lot of fun, has some issues, and is crowded, is way popular so again I will state its crowded and booked to capacity, but overall is still Disney so it does what its supposed to do - entertain.

Oh, and I was too steamed to ask for Tyler when we checked in but we did use luggage assistance and they were very sweet, a woman and a man. I asked how long it would take and they said, not long at all as there were not many checking in at the time. By the time we got our food, got through the dissaster at check-in, which would hamper the efforts of their delivery of the lugage as we didn't know room numbers till it was worked out, and parked and found our room, the luggage assistance person (I totally was too tired to get the name) was going into our room as we got there - so we had luggage to be able to crash.

Sorry your check-in experience was not magical but it sounds like you were able to make the best of your stay there. Thanks for the heads up, the food recommendations and your description of the resort. It is very helpful for those of us going for the first time.

We are checking in on Friday and other than non-smoking, I haven't made any requests. I know it will be crowded but since we will be checking in late (hopefully by 8pm) and will only be there 2 days, I can live with wherever they put us. I am keeping expecations low for our entire trip and hope to be pleasantly surprised along the way. (we always travel at Easter time.........so we know that the parks and resorts are usually filled to capacity)

Tyler,

What about shipping from Pop? I have no idea what I'll buy at WDW. I may get something that won't fit in my suitcase.

Plus, when do you think you'll have more pictures on your Pop photo site?

I've got eight months to go and I'm going nuts!!!

I have finally read through to the end and can ask my question. Does the POP have laundry service? I know there are machines but I mean a take out service, one where we could get our formal dresses for my sis's wedding steamed.

Whew! We are finally a day away from flying to WDW and arriving at the Pop Century. The high today here at home is supposed to be 46 degrees so I am ready! We'll have four teenage girls with us who'll keep their eye out for Tyler and Joshua! Thanks for all the help on this thread.

Hey there.

1st question: Is there a list we can get at the front desk/guest services to locate the Hidden Mickeys at Pop Century?

If not can you give us a idea where they are?

I was reading about "Magic Moment Pins" that you wear for Spectromagic Parade and in stores. They suppose to go crazy. Do they sell these in the gift shop at the resort? If you don't no this answer thats ok.

I can answer the second question! I saw the pins sold in stores throughout WDW last year (although I haven't stayed at POP yet). They light up when the parades go by.

I know the answer to this question has been posted before. I checked the first page of the thread and didn't see the answer in the FAQ. I didn't check all 63 pages. I'm sorry for asking again, but can someone please post the address to use to mail a package to the resort?

My sister wants to pack a few items to ship to the resort. I check in tomorrow morning, her family checks in late Sunday evening. Will it be better for her to address the package to me with my reservation # or use her reservation? (both are booked in my name)

Thanks, and again I'm sorry for asking this question again.

Here's the address from Deb's site www.allearsnet.com

I believe shipping of merchandise can be done at Everything POP Shopping & Dining.

As for pictures... the only time I can do that is on my day off, and those are pretty busy lately with school projects and such. Perhaps once school is out...

Yes, you can send your clothing out to be laundered or dry cleaned. It is rather expensive though... $5+ per item. Exact prices are listed on the order sheet. Just bring the clothing down to the Luggage Desk by 8:30am, and they will be back by 6:30ish the same day. The service is not done by Disney, but rather a local area cleaner... Parisian Cleaners, I believe.
