Well, everyone, we're back and I'll try to give you a quick overview of my trip--any questions??? Just ask!!

On Sunday February 1, 2004 I called the Pop Century to ask about my requests for rooms and if they had been filled. They kindly connected me with the room controller and they promptly verified that my requests had been filled. I had booked a preferred 60's building with two rooms--one King with a connecting double for my kids....

OK, we arrived at the Pop Century on Tuesday, February 3 around 3 PM--the lobby was quite empty and I was checked-in within 15 minutes. We were located in 60's building B right behind the PopJet area--rooms 5252 & 5253 (second floor)--both non-smoking. The rooms were great--my King room had a standard tub/shower, not a roll-in handicap shower. We made sure to leave a room tip for our maid daily before we left and each afternoon when we returned our rooms were already made up and housekeeping made sure to put our kids stuffed animals into funny positions on their beds daily--our first day they made cute towel ducks with stickers and put them in our windows as little welcomers coming back from the parks--they were great!!! It was interesting to walk by different rooms and see what other "creatures" were waiting to welcome their occupants. The food court food was very good and the frozen Coke machine was awesome!!!! Everyone was so friendly I have great praise for the staff. I did catch a few "customers" in the lobby on a few days complaining about one thing or another but they just seemed to be the type that complained about everything....

The weather was perfect for us!

My only complaint would be that I usually don't sleep well the first few nights when at a hotel--but the first three nights there I was kept up until after 11:30 PM by people's "young" children SCREAMING as they run through the PopJets. I mean they were just screaming as they ran through the cold water. Total disrespect for the occupants. Luckily I got some sleeping pills and took one nightly the remainder of our trip--my husband woke up one night and stated that they were still out their screeching!!! Common courtesy--I would never let my children do such a thing at that time of the night--again, manners... The day we were leaving I was picking up and took a minute to read some of the in-room information that I hadn't looked over yet and noticed that it did state that "quite time" began at 10PM & to be courteous and abide by those rules--had I read that earlier I would most definately complained to the Front Desk....

Except for that my trip was perfect and I definitely recommend Pop Century and will return again!!

Any questions??? Just ask!!

Sue :)

Tyler, My 21 year old daughter( hint hint!) and I will be at the Pop the week of March 14th. I hope we get a chance to meet you!

I was wondering if anything special is planned for St. Paddy's day?

Thanks for all your help and information! I hope Disney knows what a devoted employee they have in you!

'That is my daughter's 7th b-day. We will be there that week as well.

Joshua:

We are checking in on 3-13. My daughter's 7th b-day is on the 14th. Can I order flowers to be delivered to the hotel from Mickey Mouse for her? If so, can you please recommend a florist who will do this?

Thanks,
Sheri

First to bethnburke I'm dreadfully sorrie about your inconvenience upon your arrival, I honestly don't know why you weren't taken care of more appropriately when you called they really should have tried harder to reacquaint you with a dbl bed room. So again I'm so sorrie, like Tyler has stated when you press the front desk button on your phone it doesn't connect you with someone at the resort, therefore they don't exactly know what your situation is like.

Next, for lynn55, if you get a chance to talk to someone at the front desk when your children are not around there are a few things we might be able to do: A card from the characters, they will also order birthday cakes (without writing), and we can setup almost anything that you bring or send to us when you are not in the room. Hopefully these suggestions will help!

To StitchExp626 well you I know fer shure that you can see (Spaceship Earth, Tower of Terror, Illuminations kinda, Cirque du Soleil (a little), and intermittent pieces of the Swan and Dolphin. These also requires a clear night, but all in all it's still a pretty view!

For plutojudy like Tyler said we really don't have time stop in the Food Court but if your interested in rootbeer, then tomorrow when I get a chance I'll look to see if they have rootbeer. Get back with you tomorrow or the day after, promise!

Dear momoftwins just so that you know the smoking buildings are 1000 (50's), 8000 (90's), 4000 (60's), and 5000 (60's) and even then there are more non-smoking then smoking buildings! and all rooms that end with 0001, 0012, 0013, 0024, 0025, 0036, 0037, 0048, 0049, 0060, 0061, and 0072 are at the end of the hallways also 0012, 0013, 0036, 0037, 0060, and 0061 are on the outside of the building!

As for Erika'smom's question the fax number for requests is [(407) 938-4040], just keep in mind that sometimes it's busy, so you might have to try a few times! sorrie :0) Also like one other person mentioned you can also make requests upon check-in.

To dennisnlisab96 just so that you know the 60's buildings are 4101 - 4472 & 5101 - 5472 and everything from 0001-0012 & 0061-0072 are pool facing rooms!

Hi:

Just got back from POP yesterday afternoon. I can tell you being in snow at -10C is a far cry from Disney..

I have to say POP was more than I expected. I 've stayed at Moderates and above and have to say POP exceeded my expectations. It was very clean and wonderfully decorated.

However, I do not know if I will be back next time just due to the fact that I prefer a little peace and quiet. The rooms do NOT stop sound, expecially if you have a interconnecting room. Towards the end of our stay we had teenagers next door screaming at 2am. I had to call the lobby to tell them to stop.

I love the little kids, they are so cute, but they can also get noisy. Lets just if you like peace and quiet a value resort is not for you.

That being said, I loved the mousekeeping and transportation was NEVER a problem. We heard people complaining, but they were waiting for downtown disney at 2pm. lol.

Stayed in 70's 4th floor looking right out towards the mickey phone. I faxed in my room request 4 days prior and absolutely no problems.

Ask if you have any questions.

From Toronto,
Chestnut

Does anyone know if cooking appliances (microwave, coffee maker, etc...) are allowed in the rooms?

I brought a little Melitta Take 2 coffee maker with me and used it in my room. First of all I was planning on being there alone with my 4yo and didn't want to have to get him up early in the morning just so I could have my morning coffee (I must have it first thing...) and also because the instant Nescafe wasn't quite what I was used to. I did pack my coffee maker my last evening and tried the food court coffee on my last morning and I did survive, but was glad that I had my little coffee maker the other days.

There might be a microwave in the food court that a person could use and I did see a toaster. I don't know that it would be a good idea to bring a microwave because they might draw too much current and be a fire hazard. Just a thought. Also, the rooms are not big and depending on how many people you have in the room I'm not sure where it would go. I guess on the little table, but then you wouldn't be able to use the table to eat at.

To Poohsmommi For Floral info either call 407-827-3505 or 1-877-608-0066 you can even contact them through http://www.disneyflorist.com. It's all done through Disney so have great faith!

And then for faeriekisses2 if you are interested in the closest building to the bus stops I would have to reccommend either building 9 or 10 (80's or 70's) these buildings provide a close proximity to both the main building and the bus stops! We also have showers in the resort that you can walk right into, inquire about these things either when you get here or fax your requests to us about 4 days prior to arrival at (407) 938-4040

Well there you all go, hopefully that helps if you need anything else or just want to say hi, you know where to find us!

Boy, is this thread great or what :) Just booked our first ever trip to WDW and Pop.

To POP mostly because of this thread and especially because of (you know it :) ) Tyler and Joshua :)

I wonder if we will be first visitors in Pop from Finland :)
:wave2: Just wished to say "HELLO", and hope you enjoy your visit! We have not been to POP yet, but are planning a "Look~See" visit this summer! I must agree with you, Tyler and Joshua are a WEALTH of information. They make this thread so informative and interesting. We have friends in Leinikkitie, Finland, and wish they were able to visit WDW. Have fun!

I mentioned on the phone that we would prefer the 70's building. Is that all I have to do? Or do I have to fax the request somewhere or call the resort?

Tyler and Joshua we are looking forward to meeting you. How do we find you? Your advise has been extremely beneficial to us in deciding where to stay.

:earsgirl: :Pinkbounc :earsgirl: :bounce: :wave2:

I just booked our trip. Just two questions for now:
Since our departing flight leaves at 7:45pm, can we store our luggage until we are ready to leave?

Can anyone provide directions to POP from the Sanford airport?

Thanks so much!

the closest building to the buses would be the prefered buliding which is the 60s building..we just stayed in a couple of weeks ago...

Were going back to Pop century oh yea oh yea.....we had such a good time a few weeks ago and i am an official disney FREAK now that we have planned to visit again and enjoy all the Christmas festivities!!! i missed going to disney all those years i gotta make up for lost time now!!!

we were in the 70 building and the walk was not bad...the way the buses are set up the stops go most of the way across the front of the main building so any of the 3 buildings closest to the front desk/everything pop building would be fairly close...however if walking is a problem why not get a wheelchair as the buses accomedate them. if it is hard to walk to the bus, I do not think getting around the parks would be possible.
if you do not rent one or have your own I believe I saw one at pop which I am guessing you could use to get to the bus and then bring it back to the front desk before boarding? there are benches by the bus top you could sit on while waiting for the bus, then just have to walk a short distance( maybe 20-30 ft) to board.

We are heading to the Pirate Adventure Dinner from the Pop Century on our first night there. The Pirate place appears to be on the way to Universal. Are there mini-van size taxis that come to Pop Century (we are a party of six) and does anyone have an estimation of what it will cost? Thanks!

I'm not sure if this has been asked before (it's a long 44 pages to read through again) but will we have to drive over in our car for our 8am ps at Donald's Breakfastosaurus? DH is hoping to take the bus but I said I didn't think they ran that early. AK opens at 9am the day we are going.

Also, is it true that there are so many room request faxes that the room assigner is ignoring them now? I have read in some reviews that rooms facing the pools are very noisy late at night so I hope to get one (non-smoking) facing away from them. Towards the lake would be nice since it's just DH and I, this trip. Should I still fax, add a request on my reservation, or just wait until check-in?

Thank you for the wealth of information I have found on this thread, Tyler and Joshua. I hope that I get to thank you both in person in 3 weeks!:D :D

Yes there are minivan size taxi's. Check with Meers. THey are the only licensed carrier in the areas. You can get ripped off by going with a noname. I do not remember the price structure.

we were going for an early breakfast at a resort & the nice driver took us right there along with another family...thinking it was to the comtemporary...and it was originally an MK bus for CRT/CP breakfast Ps before park opening so am sure there would be one for AK breakfast PS also.
