The All New Pop Century FAR OUT FAQ Thread!

Just got back from PC and I have to say it was better than we expected. The CM's were fantastic! We had no problem with the AC (as mentioned in previous threads). The only thing to complain about was the buses. They were crowded and stood most of the time.
Stayed in the 70's blg ( 6416). Which was close to everything--Classic Hall and buses. Could see Lake, Legendary Years and I think it was Tower of Terror from MGM.
Definitely, will stay there next year again.

My 17 year old daughter and 13 year old son want to venture on their own (by Disney bus transportation)from Pop to Downtown Disney to the movies(a Harry Potter emegency). My DH and I prefer to hang by the pool. Is it OK to let them do this alone? Some veteran or Tyler advice,please!

We were @ Pop Century & All Star Sports in April with my son 16, nephew 12 & niece 10. We felt very comfortable letting the 3 of them go off on the bus to the parks on their own & meeting up with us later. They are very responsible & kept in touch with us with my son's cell phone. We travel to WDW twice a year & they have been doing this for the past 2 yrs. It gives them a little independence & they've always met up with us at the correct time. We are now considering staying at POP for 4 night and POR for 3 nights. Will bell services take our luggage from POP to bell services at POR? How does this work? Do they pick it up in our room on checkout if they do this?

Pop Century does not have Bell Services. They have what is called "Luggage Assistance" which is a non-tipped scheduled service, rather than an on-demand tipped service.

Just touch the Luggage button on your phone the night before you want to transfer over, and they will schedule a pickup time. You do not need to be in your room for the luggage to be picked up. Luggage will be delivered to the new resort between 1-3pm. Once at the new resort, you will need to call Bell Services to get your luggage. You must be in your room for Bell Services to drop off your bags, since they are a tipped service.

We let our 17yo son and 16yo daughter do that last summer with the other teens in the group. They had cell phones. The rule was if we couldn't contact them, they lost roaming privelidges (sp?). It worked very well. They checked in before entering or exiting any park and at meals via phone. We also established a default meeting spot in each of the major locations. If all else failed we met at the standard spot at a designated time.

I have read different things about getting your requests met. I will be staying at the Pop Century in Nov 04 and made several room requests (connecting rooms, one king bed, 70s building) when I booked the trip. So far I have read to fax the hotel, call the hotel, don't call the hotel call Central Reservations, and wait until I arrive to fine tune it. If any of the CMs can help (or if anyone else has advice) it would be appreciated.

I haven't called or faxed a request. My TA just noted on our reservations that we wanted adjoining rooms, one with a king bed.

When I get there I am going to ask for a room on the 4th floor of the 50's building, lakeside.

I'll let you know if I get what I want when I arrive!!

How early do I need to notify Pop about a refrigerator for medical reasons? Do I need to call CR or the Pop directly?

Also, we have reservations for the 60's bldg, can I make a request for ground floor, closer to food court (also medical needs)?

Just back from my trip to WDW

Checked in at Pop Century around 2:00pm. Friday May 21st we pulled up to luggage assistance and droped off our bags then parked at Check-in parking area only waitied 3 or 4 minuites before we where helped and my niece picked which building she wanted to stay in, she picked 50's our room was located on the 4th floor overlooking the bowling pin pool great parking close by and great room. Our luggage had already been delivered when we arrived at room.

At check-in I asked if Tyler was working and one of the Cm's said I just saw him, I'll run find him....So I did get to meet Tyler this trip (missed him last March)

Tyler was so sweet, and is a cutie pie... Tyler I don't know how you manage to do all that you do..Working full time, college, and answering all the questions on this thread (just that is a full time job) Anyway just wanted to say Hi, and to thank you once again for all you do.

This was my niece's first stay at POP she thought it was way cool.

I just booked one night at Pop Century for the front end of my trip!!Yay!!!! Now, I've been reading and trying to find this out. Which building is the one with Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head? Is it the 50's bldg or the 60's bldg?
