The All New Pop Century FAR OUT FAQ Thread!

Trying again with this question about transportation, since I've never stayed at a Disney resort before I'm so stupid about it.

Okay will Pop have a schedule that they will give me with the times posted of when the buses will be leaving to go to the different parks? Or does does the buses just start at a certain time (say 7:00 or whatever) and ran about every 15 minutes?

How long will it take for us to get to each park? We plan on taking advantage of a couple of EMH days, but the other days we are hoping to be there at the regular opening. I just want to know about what time we should be waiting on the bus to get us to the parks on time.

Lastily, I've heard that the buses don't run that often to the water parks. I'm wanting to be at BB at 10:00 and leave around 1:00--should we try the buses for this or just take the car?

Is it possible to walk to the Wide World of Sports from PC? I think I saw this posted earlier but didn't see an answer. Thanks.

There is no schedule for buses. They run approx every 10-20 minutes, give or take. They are demand influenced, so if there is a larger than normal demand, they will run more frequently. So, if there is a huge long line in the morning, and not everyone will fit on the first bus, there will be a second bus along shortly.

Pop Century is in a good central location. The Magic Kingdom is the furthest theme park away, and it will be 12-13 minutes away, give or take. The Studios is the closest, and it will be 3-5 minutes away, give or take.

That is not true. They run on the SAME EXACT schedule that the theme park buses run on. And you can tell this, because it's the Animal Kingdom bus that goes to Blizzard Beach, and the Downtown Disney bus that goes to Typhoon Lagoon.

You cannot walk safely to any destination outside of Pop Century. The only exception is a cast member only tunnel that leads to Caribbean Beach/Pop Century Cast Services.

Tyler or anyone else who can answer this. My friend and I along with her two children are booked for POP for the Friday after Thanksgiving for 11 nights. I see that we may be hitting the POP Warner time. Is there any news as to rather or not they will invade POP Century and if so if you have a perfered room would that guarantee you being away from them. I have been numerous times and always stayed at a deluxe resort due to this situation and now I am concerned about it.
Thanks,

Although nothing is guaranteed, the groups are all being directed over to the All-Stars since they have a group checkin facility to handle it. Pop Century does not. However, there is always the chance that we might get some overflow.

I'm not sure if this question has been asked but does the 60's pool provide life jackets for small kids? Thanks April

I have a question for those of you who have stayed here with kids and were NOT in the preferred buildings, Do you wish you would of paid the extra money to be in a preferred building?

we were in the 70s bldg and I am VERY glad that I did not pay the extra $10/night. The walk was only 1 or 2 minutes longer and was very easy. I feel our walk from the bus stop was easier b/c we did not have to cut through the main building. NOPE. I'd never pay the extra $10 for preferred. Even if you are stuck in the 80s or 90s the walk is not bad at all.

just a little thread bump and a YAHOOEY because as soon as dh finishes eating,,we're heading to POP!!! My brother and his son flew in from CO earlier today and are already there. We'll be there in 2 hours. We'd requested nonsmoking connecting rooms in the 50's bldg. Got non smoking, connecting, but they had to put us in the 80's. But thats fine,as we'll be in the parks most of the time. I'll look for Tyler and report back on the lowdown when we get back! We're driving,,but will be using the Disney bus transportation while we're there, and have 3ps's-whispering canyons cafe, chef mickey's,and liberty tree tavern. be back in a few!!:earsgirl:

I'm actually on vacation this week... I won't be back until Monday morning, but I don't know if I'll be working in a guest area.

Hey Tyler!

Couple more things "popped" into my mind, sad.

1. A suggestion: I haven't seen a side shot of the bridge that connects the two generations but if there is room to go underneath I think pedal-powered boats would be a great addition. That way the lake doesn't just sit there harvesting mosquitos.

2. A question: Your choice of course to answer. What was your reason from going to a bus driver to working at the POP? Reading your thread explaining the MOD/Flex, I bet it was the late night complaints of guests waiting too long for a bus, which they probably weren't.

Have fun on your vacation!

Pedal boats would be a neat thing... perhaps once Legendary opens up.

HOWEVER... newsflash... Pop Century now has SURREY BIKES!!!

As for my role switch... I *LOVED* being a bus driver. I usually worked mornings, but I really enjoyed the night shifts as well. My favorite part was turning grumpy guests into laughing guests. :)

The reason for my switch... well... I can't really say on a public board since it was for internal reasons. It was entirely my choice, and I am very happy at Pop Century. However, I miss my buses sooooooooo much.

I looked at the 360 view of a room at POP from an earlier link and I'm a little concerned about fitting a crib/pack & play in the room. Where does it fit? I'm sure the size could be distorted, but we're bringing a 3 yo who will sleep in one bed and a 1 yo who will have to have a crib, so I don't want to be unpleasantly surprised! We're trying to make our final resort decision and are really getting sold on POP except for the space considerations. Thanks so much!

There are several places in which it will fit. If you don't have a connecting room, or are not using the connector door, it fits PERFECTLY right in between the TV and the wall to the bathroom area.

Otherwise, you can also place it between the bed and the bathroom.

We have preferred room booked, but keep seeing people say it's not necessary for location purposes. So now I am wondering which pool is better. The pin looks very similar to ASM's guitar pool which is very large. The hippy dippy looks small from the pictures. Can anyone tell me which pool they prefer? Thanks!

Tyler...I have some old paper tickets to Disney World from 1994 that still have one day left on them. I understand that they are still good, but must be exchanged for the new type tickets...can I exchange them at the resort when we get there?

Also, we are driving down from Michigan on 4/1/04..hoping to get to the Pop resort about 7 am on 4/2/04 and checking in for two nights... are we going to have any problem parking there and going to the Parks that morning being that early?

Thanks for all the help.

You may want to see how much they are worth as collectors items on Ebay before you cash them in. You may be able to get more $$$ than just trading a day. Especially if you are going to have to get hoppers for the remainder of your stay.

We went in the Bowling Pin Pool & it's very long, plenty of swimming room..didn't go in the Hippy Dippy or Computer pool but they look like fun! Enjoy!! Cathie & The Gang:boat: :grouphug: :jumping1:
