Okay, I just have to express my love for these boards. Someone asks about the hair dryer and immediately someone posts a picture. Not being snarky - that's just really impressive:).

:disrocks:

I'm so excited. I just have to say how much I appreciate all of your posts. After dozens of trips, I am finally getting to stay Poly and this thread has me more excited than many of my previous trips. So, a big THANK YOU!

I'm happy for you that you get to stay at the Polynesian. It's such a wonderful place to be :beach:

Whew!! I finally made it to July!!! I can now finally say "I'm going back to WDW THIS MONTH!!!"

That is the best feeling  Congratulations!

I just found this thread and haven't had time to read all of it but I am so excited to have found it!We are staying at the Poly in December and it has been a lifelong dream to stay there. We have always wanted to stay at two resorts: The Contemporary Tower and the Poly, MK view. We did the Contemp Tower in November 05 for a surprise birthday for my husband (he actually cried when we got in the ME line for that resort instead of the line for POR that he thought we were staying at) and now, the Poly! Wahoo!!Life is great, isn't it?:cool1:
P.S. We also are now DVC members at BLTs and are planning a grand gathering for my siblings and their grandchildren in December 2010.

That is SO sweet about your husband being so happy about his surprise :wizard:
And :cheer2: on BLT. It looks fabulous!!

It's funny - whenever someone asks about the time from one resort to another on the monorail, I have no clue what to answer. The first time I stayed at a WDW resort, it was the Poly and our kids were 4 and 2 at the time. Riding the monorail was the highlight for them. I think we could have stayed on the monorail the whole time and never entered a park and they'd have been thrilled. I also grew up in So Cal and always remember the monorail being a ride, rather than a mode of transportation. :)
I do remember the wait for the bus to Animal Kingdom was nothing short of painful.

We arrived at the polynesian on Monday. It's been great. Only wish the weather would improve. Lots of clouds and thunderstorms. Not just the usual late afternoon ones

we are here until Thursday next week

anyone have any questions?

I love my Dis friends! now if i could just fix my ticker to show my next trip instead of my last one!:confused3

Yes, the Tahiti longhouse is the one right beside the ferry dock and a couple of minutes walk to the monorail. I can remember a few posters who were in rooms at the end by the ferry who were a little bothered by the noise of the ferry horns. They don't run all night but could interfere with nap time if your children are light sleepers. You might want to request a room near the west end of the building (closer to the rest of the resort and further from the ferry.)

I happen to have taken notes on my phone last summer on this exact route.
From the Hawaii Building we walked to the TTC and took the monorail to Epcot.
It took us 7 minutes to get to the monorail and the ride from the TTC to Epcot was 9 minutes :thumbsup2

You don't have to fold up your stroller on the Monorail right? I am trying to make it so if my toddler is asleep then I can leave him where he is. Really don't want to keep up with a child, hold a toddler and a stroller on a bus. :sad2:

We are usually at an Epcot resort, but since DH is not going with us, I am going to take advantage of a MK resort. Since, I am in a MK View room then I should be able to see the fireworks each night right? Was hoping that my older son could watch them each evening, even if the little one has already crashed.

Does the Poly do any campfires on the beach? My DS is now saying he doesn't want to go there if they don't roast marshmallows at night. LOL.

Right. You won't have to fold up your stroller to board the monorail :) Just for buses and boats.

Polynesian guests are invited to the camfires held at the Grand Floridian. It is printed on the recreational activities list:
"8pm "A Grand evening at the movies! The Grand Floridian Resort is showing your favorite Disney movies under the stars. Bring your beach towel and take the path from the Polynesian to the grassy area after the Wedding Pavilion. We will be showing "Monsters, Inc." Rated G."
(other nights' showings in March were "A Bug's Life", "Tinkerbell", "Lilo & Stitch", "WALL-E", "Toy Story 2" and "Enchanted".)

What's really awesome is that someone would actually have a picture of the hairdryer! I mean, that's dedication! I love it!

What a terrific story! I want to do that someday too...

My DS6 had quite a relationship with the busses last year. He liked the monorail okay, but the buses? They were where it's at!

He had a "like bus", a "hate bus" and a love bus." It took us any number of days to figure out that the adoration of any particular bus had to do with the stytling of the front of the bus. The "love buses" had the driver positioned over the engine. The "hate buses" had the driver positioned behind the engine. I can't remember what was up with the "like bus."

Hope the weather clears up for you!
If you pass the gift shop, can you check how much sand toys are for the kids?

Anyone happen to know if it's true that there are generally buckets/shovels already on the beach for anyone to use? Someone once told me this was true at the Beach Club so not sure if it's also true at the Poly! THANKS!!!

Kids are so funny - when we went to Epcot last December, I asked each of the kids to explain their favorite ride. Heckle (DD6) like the Journey to Imagination. Jeckle (DD4) liked the bus ride the best.

Hello,

Which building are you in? What type of room category? I hope the weather gets better for you!!!

Can anyone tell me if the GF campfire/movie (on the beach by Poly) is on every night? Thanks!

Just curious - is walking to TTC from Hawaii instead of main building to get on the monorail the best way? TIA

Yes, it is as long as you are headed to EPCOT. If you are going to MK, it's faster to go to the GCH.

If you are going to Epcot, Yes....
the Monorail that goes into the GCH(main building) is the resort loop., You'd have to get off at the TTC and transfer to the Epcot Monorail, so you will get there faster if you just walk over to TTC. If you are going to another Monorail resort, then it is usually faster to get on at the GCH.

Hi guys! I had a funny story to share with you :) I have been courting the idea of possibly doing Disneyland next year instead of WDW...but today I saw two interesting license plates: O-HANA and ILVPOLY. Do you think the tiki gods are trying to sway my decision? :lmao: Hope everyone is well!

The main building's Monorail only takes you to MK and the other MK deluxe hotels and Transportation Center. However, the prior post was saying that he/she walked from the Poly to the Transportation Center to get to Epcot instead of taking a bus from Poly to Epcot.

The movies were offered every night of the month in March :thumbsup2

You've already gotten several answers but I just wanted to say, "YES!" We've sort of just recently discovered this perk of being at the Poly after 5+ trips... You save the trip around the lagoon and then getting OFF the resorts monorail, going down a ramp and then back up another ramp and boarding the Epcot monorail - if you take the lovely walk over to the TTC and get directly onto the Epcot monorail. If you're in Tahiti or Rapa Nui or Tokelau it is particularly convenient :)

Hi lissiesmum :wave2: Hope all is well with you :flower3:
YES - I definitely think the Tiki Gods are saying "Come back home, lissiesmum!!"

Hi Johnsonet! I love this picture of the Tiki Gods! Brought a big smile to my face, thanks! I'd like to do DL someday, but I truly think things happen for a reason and I just can't imagine not being with Mickey Mouse by day, and not jumping on the monorail to go home to those white sand beaches and torches and flowers, and music and....oh, who am I kidding? I could go on all night! lissiesmum will indeed be coming home (after a short stint at POFQ, unless of course there is a 4/3 deal or magic pin offered!). Have a great evening everyone I'll be sitting here watching the rain fall...again...for the fourth week in a row. I feel like in live in Seattle lately :(
