Ugh! With all this snow in New York, June can't get here fast enough.

Agreed! We're in TEXAS and have had 5 snow days in a row where the whole town is closed! In TEXAS! Last weekend I wore flip flops and shorts and washed my car.. It's times like these I wish I wasn't a nurse and could stay home all day like everyone else.. Everytime I drive on the ice I count down the days to Disney! 113 left!!

Can I join you all?

I just bought our tickets tonight!:banana::banana:

We will be going June 11-19 to coincide with my husband's convention in Orlando. We weren't planning a big trip, but when I saw there was Individual Enrollment for the YES program the week we would be traveling, it made sense to go! MY DH just gave me the thumbs up for it yesterday, and I enrolled tonight!

This will be our 3rd trip as a family. We did a week at WDW two years ago with my parents joining us. Last year, we went to MK for 1 day with the GAD program. We just bought 7-day tickets for this summer. We are trying to talk my in laws into joining us, but they are undecided at this point.

My next big thing is to find lodging for us. We will be staying off-site, and I am busy researching our options. We did a Windsor Palms pool home last time and LOVED it, but if it's just the 5 of us, we need something smaller. There are so many places to consider, but I know we'll find the right place!

Oh, and our kids don't know about the trip yet. They know we've been looking into it, but they think I have to take a class this summer and that we will most likely be staying close to home. I know I won't be able to keep this a secret long, but I want a fun way to tell them this time!

Also, we'll be driving into Orlando from PA. I think the kids are pros at the 20-hour drive by now! It's such a fun adventure!

Well I switched my dates to June 8-13th now, just pushed it back three days. I'm getting worried that they may have to make up snow days so that will give us a little room and if they add on more than that, my kids will just have to miss it but won't miss all the end of the year fun stuff hopefully. The Poly had availabilities so it wasn't a problem. I haven't bought airline tickets yet so that's not an issue.

So my new ADR's are:

June 8- 6:20pm Liberty Tree Tavern
9- 4 pm Garden Grill
10- 1:10pm Sci-Fi
11- 2:30pm Le Cellier
13- 8:10am Ohana's

We're gonna go to AK the morning of the 12th (Sunday) so I was thinking of eating at the Rainforest Cafe and paying OOP for a sit down. I just don't like the restaurants in AK, my kids love pizzafari, so it will be one of those depending on how long we stay at the park. Probably, just do a half day and maybe try to catch Fantasmic in the evening.

I posted on May as well.

May 29-June 6 CBR

You are always welcome on both boards! :cool1: Thanks for joining us!

Welcome! I added you to our list on page 1. We also drive and don't mind it at all. We are the crazy family that drives straight through the night to get there. :rotfl:

I updated all your information on page 1. I know..it's really hard to figure out this crazy weather this year. I tried to schedule ours over a week after school let out just because I knew that we could go up to a week extra if we have more snow days so I wanted to be safe. I'm glad you were able to switch your dates so easily. :thumbsup2

Welcome to my fellow Marylander! We also have avoided a lot of the snow, but we have used 4 snow days in our part of Maryland. Where exactly do you live? We are driving also. We make the drive from Maryland to Florida with two little ones. :thumbsup2 I added you to our roll call on page 1.

Thanks! :goodvibes We are in Anne Arundel County. We did our first drive with all three kids back in November of 2007. It went okay...but they were 7, 3 and 5 at the time. I think this time it will go a bit better since they are more 'seasoned' long distance travelers. We have been making regular 8+ hour drives several times a year to NC to visit my parents since about 2007 now and they are much older and entertain themselves much easier! Of course, we are also taking a different vehicle. The Honda Odyssey we drove back in November 2007 was totalled just a few weeks after we returned from WDW ...so this will be a trip in either the 2008 Honda Pilot that replace it or a 2010 Mazda CX-9 (hubby's baby). We'll see.

We are also taking a caravan as the rest of the family (MIL, FIL, SIL, BIL and nephew) will also be driving. Right now we are scheduled to leave a day before them...but that could change depending on snow days! ;)

We live in Montgomery County so a little less driving for us, but not by much. We find it easier to drive at night with our LO. They are only 4 and 2. We leave around their bedtime so that we can just drive straight through and have them sleep while we drive. So far it has worked well. Hopefuly it continues this year. We have had good luck with them in the car so far. :)

Of course, I've made many changes and some of these may still change, but right now here are the planned dining reservations for us:

June 18th - Grand Floridian Cafe (6pm dinner)
June 19th - Still trying to decide between Chef Mickey's for breakfast or Crystal Palace...we have both right now
June 19th - Cape May Cafe (6pm Clambake dinner)
June 20th - Tusker House (breakfast/lunch...late breakfast really)
June 20th - California Grill (7:30pm dinner)
June 21st - Hollywood Brown Derby (12pm lunch)
June 21st - Rose & Crown Pub (8pm dinner)
June 22nd - Chef Mickey (breakfast)
June 22nd - Chef de France (5pm dinner) OR Captain's Grille (6:30pm dinner) - not sure yet...ADRs for both until we decide
June 23rd - Mama Melrose (3:30pm lunch...Fantasmic! package)

The ones I know will NOT change are California Grill dinner, Hollywood Brown Derby lunch and Chef Mickey breakfast...but dates and times are still subject to change. These are current.

Ah! I think our plan this time is to leave in the 3-4am timeframe and do the drive all day. Last time we left early afternoon and stopped around 10pm or so somewhere in NC overnight. We'd like to do the straight thru drive this time. We did drive straight thru on the way home last time, leaving at 7:30am or so, stopping a few times including a long stop for a sitdown meal at Cracker Barrel, and got home around 1am!

I added everything to the list on page 1. If things change, let me know and I will be happy to change it however many times you want to change them! lol. :goodvibes

hey there everyone! this is my first time on the forum, i was just looking around doing some pre planning for my trip and you all seem right up my ally!

I am planning my fifth trip to DW, for the week of June 6-11. A little nervous though because I will be taking this trip with my best friend and our children. The only reason I am nervous is because I'm a control freak and i know I wont have total control of the vacation lol. We've decided to take the kids as we both have gotten divorced recently and we all need a break from reality!!

this will be my 5th trip my dd and bff's second trip and her ds's first trip so excited to start planning!!

We are in West TN and it takes us about 14 hours. We did the drive last time straight through. This time we are going to split it up on the way down! My husband just gets too tired from the drive! I do like road trips it just feels like vacation to me!

Does your DH drive the whole thing himself?

That's what we do. I have a phobia of driving on highways, so we do the 20 hours from PA to FL with just my DH behind the wheel. We break it into two days, with a stop overnight.

Of course, my job is to keep the kids calm, cool and collected while he drives, which may be way more stressful than 20 hours of driving!

We drive too but split it up into three hour shifts. We like it better that way. My husband could drive the whole way, but I don't like him to be cranky the next day so we can enjoy the first day of vacation without daddy being miserable. :thumbsup2

Ok, here are our ADRS;

6-21 Teppan Edo - Japan 6:00 dinner
6-22 Kona Cafe - Polynesian 1:05 lunch
6-23 Chefs de France - France 7:00 dinner
6-24 Wolfgang Puck Cafe -DT 7:00 dinner
6-25 Boma - AKL 7:30 dinner
6-26 50's Primetime - DHS 6:30 dinner
6-27 Turf Club -SSR 6:05 dinner
6-28 Tutto Italia - Italy 7:30 dinner

So a couple of new ones for us this trip; Teppan Edo and Chefs de France!
Any opinions? Any questions for me on our other choices? They are all repeats of our favorites.

BTW, I am with all of you regarding the weather! We are supposed to get more this Tuesday and again on Thursday! AARRRGGGHHHH!!! Cannot wait for this trip. I will personally "remind" the first member of my family of this winter, when they are complaining of how hot it is during this vacation. LOL:goodvibes

Jane,

I updated the ADR list on page 1 to reflect your ADR list. We liked Teppan Edo. My husband liked it better than I did, but I thought it was good. I do like our hibachi restaurant by our house better, but it was still good. My son is pretty picky but he still enjoyed the noodles they made for him. I really like the beef that I had for an appetizer with my dinner. It was the best part of the meal. I liked their little show, but I was kind of disappointed that every chef seemed to have the same little show. Overall, a good meal. I have never been to Chefs de France so I can't speak to that.

Yeah, we missed the bad weather today here in Maryland. I am glad about that. We had to take my son to the hospital. He has been sick and spiked a high fever last night and ended up turning blue (mouth, fingers, toes, very white skin, not responding to us). The paramedics came to get him and I was so glad it wasn't icy. It would have made me more nervous. He was diagnosed with a febrile seizure. It was scary, but they said he should be fine. It's been a long day and now that both kids are sleeping (way earlier than normal) I have some time to just sit.

OMG, i'm sorry to hear about your baby being sick, i'm sure "scary" is an understatement...I can only imagine. I'm so glad that he's doing well now .
