Today is decision day about the trip.....at least as far as the airlines is concerned. They gave us several different options to do with no penalties. Seems Frances may hit a day later that we anticipated and arrive central FL on Sunday. Trying to decide if we will arrive a day later and cut the trip short by a day, shift the 5 days if Disney can give us another night, or go somewhere else MAY switch over to Disneyland and the Grand Californian.

I HATE FRANCES. I can't imagine what the people in Florida are going through. It seems so wrong trying to figure out how to get there when they are all trying to get out. Makes my delima seem pretty petty.

Just tried calling WDW.....all cicruits into FL are busy!

Hey GEFFRIC. No way will we move there. It is in Mississippi!!! ugh. I hate the south. I am just ready to dump the house. Since the three years since mom died, it has been the money pit.

We do have a job offer in Florida. Hate the state, but Sam will go to college there. Hmmmmm hard decision.

Cheeringmom Hate the South? I believe you're living south of the Mason/Dixon line right now I happen to LOVE the South but I gotta agree with you about Mississippi it's about 100 yrs BEHIND the rest .... And sending tons of PD your way in hopes your "money pit" sells soon...take the offer!

Thanks....naturally we don't Florida to take another huge hurricane hit, but if it misses Florida, it most likely will gain strength and head for the Carolinas....meaning me and NC Beast and NC Belle. And hopefully Frances won't go even farther north and hit poor Kadaten....just not a good situation at all

me too Ibounce. What a bummer. Maybe if you did cancel, you won't get charged cancellation fees etc. WDW deals with this often. Take heart. Frances may go way north!!! I'll keep my fingers crossed.


Sam is off at cheer captain tryouts. We will see. She is nervous. She really wants this. It will look good on her college resume too. I'll let you know.

Good luck to your daughter!! I know how nerve racking it can be!! Today was a bad today at drill team practice... everybody got an attitude with everyone else, and this girl I thought I could trust told one of my really sensitive best friends something that I didn't want anybody to know... I hope that made sense... I see the error of my ways now, I sweat to small stuff too much, but if I changed my ways right now, then that sensitive best friend would think that I did it just for her, which is just not true.

Omg, I sound like a soap opera... I don't like being a teenager, everyone is so wrapped up with themselves. We do current events every day in World History, and some people didn't even know about all the hurricanes or any of the other big news... Yeah... I just don't like people in general. They are so stupid. I hope no one takes offense to this. I mean an individual by him/herself can be intelligent, but the human race is over all just plain stupid. Especially teenagers... and to think I am one myself!!

I know I have asked before but I need to ask again. Could you please send some PD for my friend Bill and his friend Pete who are in Orlando at Bills house right now. I spoke to Bill this evening from his house and they are going to ride out Frances there. They have not finished the roof yet so some of it is just covered in tarp. They have been able to get wood to board up all the windows and brace up the garage. They also have lots of food, water and battery supplies and have made a safe room in the closet downstairs using pillows, blankets etc. I hope they are going to be safe. They have a return plane ticket booked to the UK on the 11th so they have until then to make any repairs needed. Luckily they haven't had chance yet to repair the pool screen etc so that is one less thing for them to worry about.

We are thinking heavily about our cousins to the south from here in Georgia. PD to your friends Danauk. I am sure they will be just fine. We will be getting round 2 of Frances on Monday and believe me hurricanes in Georgia, even inland, are not fun. Tornados spawn frequently off of them up my way and we of course get the downpour and flooding. This one looks strong but you never know about these types of storms. They some times drop dramatically in force and even bounce off land like a pinball. My aunt and one of my cousins cam eot my mother house from DAytona last night. I am not sur e where my aunt is as I have not talkked to my mother today. She must be in Atlanta (I hope). Daytona and Ormond Beach are goijng to take a hit I think.

Ibounce I just don't know what to say about your situation. I am so sorry this timed out so poorly for you. I know you have probably planned and looked forward to this for a while. I do not think that going elsewhere would cure your need to hit WDW. I think checking on changing or adding dates as a postponed arrival makes the better sense.

[COLOR=990066]DHSsenior007[/COLOR] As much as I loved my freshman year of high school, I absolutely hated my senior year and couldn't wait to graduate.....sorry to sound so negative, but there you have it.....and I was actually one of the more popular kids.....lots of social pressure associated with that which made me do and say dumb things and at times want to "hide from the world". High school did have its fun moments but I wouldn't want to do it over...got tired of dealing with the same people AND their hangups I know, I know....TMI

Danauk, all my thoughts and prayers to your friends, and all our DIS buddies as well. I've seen several threads about what people are doing that have/had trips planned for this weekend. Some actually went down EARLY to get there before airports shut down and will ride out the storm at WDW.....personally, I don't think that was a good idea

Our delima today was/is with the airlines (America West). They won't give us the option of moving flights without penalties at this point. (even though at 5AM this morning one reservationist did give [color=FF33CC]PixieMagic[/color] that option, they reniged when she called back after checking with me). They won't do it at all unless our flight is cancelled, and they won't make that decision till SATURDAY. If we had been flying into Orlando, this would already be resolved, but since it's Tampa, they aren't cancelling anything yet. Our hope is that Sat night flight is cancelled and we can push the trip back 48 hours. Disney is being VERY cooperative with changes. Should our flight be canx'd and we decide not to go at all, Disneyland is an option and we have a room on hold at the Grand Californian (Disney being very helpful there also and allowing us an extension on the cancellation deadline should we end up getting to WDW!) So right now, who knows where I'm going on vacation?!?!

Wow, lots of pd going out to DANAUK's friends and to IBOUNCE. DANA I'm surprised he is going to try and ride out the storm. Depending where it hits, he may have to evacuate.

DHSsenior, sounds like you had a crappy day yesterday. I hope today is better. When you are with a group of girls everyday at practice there is going to be strife. Hormones etc. And I really don't think you hate people. Otherwise you wouldn't be on the DIS and be your sweet self. You just need the weekend to be here to take a break!! Go out and have fun with a few friends You;''ll feel better!!!

Thanks for the well wishes for Sam. She did make Varsity captain. She is so excited. Now she will be know as the cheer nazi. they have titles to fight for and this is a young squad. She'll be walking a fine line. She is a people pleaser and hates when people don't like her. I tried to tell her that being the leader is a tough job and she will not please everyone everytime and there will be people who won't like her b/c of some of the decisions she has made. It will be a good learning tool for her.

Anyway off to start the day.

Today I have a day sitting at home and I am bored. I have done bits of housework and I guess I could do some more! Our car still isn't back yet so I am stuck here unable to get anywhere as Pete took my car to work. We were supposed to get his car back yesterday (they managed to find a reconditioned engine for us so our final bill will be about £1000 cheaper than what it could have been) but they needed to finish a few things off on it today so we will get it back this evening.
