We stayed at CR for two days Dec 6 and 7 before joining our pop warner team at ASMU for the rest of our stay.
I believe we were in room 4425 (the last room on the MK side towards chef mickeys on floor 8). I was initially given floor 6 but requested to be as high as they could get me.
I would definitely recommend staying AWAY from chef mickeys. We heard them each morning at 7am when they opened and it was LOUD and annoying.
We loved the view and the location but my husband and I agreed that we wouldn't stay there again for the money. Bell services was so behind that I had to call and complain to the front desk and someone actually helped me bring the luggage up so we could go to MVMCP...we were late and almost missed the first parade.
The rooms were plenty big enough but the beds were uncomfortable and the room wasn't as clean as I would have liked when we came in (stuff in tub and on floors of bathroom). Our tub drain was totally plugged up and everytime we showered we were ankle deep in water by the time we got out. We had a rental car as well and parking there is minimal. My husband always had issues trying to find a spot.
I was glad we stayed...I've always wanted to stay at CR and the view just cannot be beat. But honestly aside from location and view IMO its not worth the $$. We stayed at GF in January and although my husband didn't like that much either he did say he'd stay there again before CR. The fireworks from the room were awesome...really if you are going for the MK view there's nothing that compares. When I get around to getting my pics on the computer I'll come back and post my balcony view here. It is truly amazing :wizard:

Thanks for posting that honest review. I'm sorry to hear that the service wasn't magical, but at least you had the great view!

Thanks for posting your honest review about it.

I forgot to mention on my families check-out morning there was a note posted in all the elevators that the gym was being renovated and if we wanted to we could use the one at the Grand Floridian. Now I am not sure how long this renovation is happening, however the elevator did stop on the 3rd floor and it was obvious they were painting because of the smell and the doors at it's entrance were taken off.

I just addded Contemporary tip #15 to the 1st page and here it is.

At the 10:00 PM the drink machine and all other machines in the Contempo Cafe closer to Chef Mickey's are turned off for the evening and are not turned back on until 6:00 AM. Then at 12:00 AM the same thing is done to the other machines and they are also not turned back om until 6:00 AM.

No problem. Forgot to mention on a positive note that the resort was super quiet and peaceful at night which was nice to come back to after a long day at the parks! No issues with hearing the monorail from our room either...just chef mickeys which was definitely enough :rotfl:

Just curious did they use to stay on all night?

Answer me this. Since we are both used to T.O. weather, I figured I would ask you. Will I be in shorts and a T, or jeans and a sweater?

Thanks

Mike2023, I notice you are leaving in 12 days...are you staying MK view? do you think you could report back about if there is a castle refurb and how it's affecting the views?

I am going to assume it's been like that since the Contempo Cafe has been opened.

When the Food & Fun Center was opened all the drink machines and etc was available 24 hours a day, so maybe that's what you are thinking of.

The first couple of days we were wearing t-shirts and shorts, however after that we were wearing sweaters and jeans. So I would look the weather before you leave.

I am sad. I have been anticipating this trip for a year. I have been to Disney twice before and always had something tugging me to the contemporary. Now I hear about the gym and castle refurb and I just sigh. Thank you all for the positive posts about the impact of the view. I will feel better about this in a day or so. I just have to keep reminding myself of the many other reasons I want to go to the contemporary. Maybe I will check out upgrade to club level without the view??? Hmmm

Well should you decide to upgrade to the Club Level - Bay Lake View make sure it's for all the right reasons. However I will say the Bay Lake View in general is just as good like the Magic Kingdom View, plus on the Atrium Club Level floor you can also see the same Magic Kingdom View from the lounge and the music for Wishes is played inside the lounge and outside on the lounge balconies.

I had this thought myself! I was thinking of switching to the Bay Lake side, but there are no rooms available :sad2: How many days til you leave? I found out about all of this on Saturday, and I'm still not feeling so great about all of this...I really want to stay at the CR, but it comes down to paying for the MK view...I wish there were other room options available, then I'd feel much better about everything!

Actually my family and I were just there from the 12 - 22 and we are now in Clearwater Beach.
