Please forgive me for asking a stupid question. But do all the rooms at CR have a balony/patio? According to the Unofficial Guide they all do, but according to the Passporter, some do, some dont. Can anyone answer this for me?
All the rooms in the Tower come with a balcony. However in the South Garden Wing only the 1st floor rooms have a patio, so the rooms on the 2nd and 3rd floors don't have either one.

We are staying in late September, and wonder if some of the 'growing pains' of having two resorts using the same dining, shops, and transportation will still be in full swing, or will have passed.

Thanks!

August 4th. Hopefully, it won't be any worse than when the North Garden Wing was open. However, the BLT can accommodate MANY more than the NGW did, so that could make for a more crowded CR. Sep. shouldn't be bad since schools are back in session.

Bay Lake Tower is opening on August 4, 2009. As for the growing pains I don't think it will be that bad. Bay Lake Tower guests will still need to walk over to the Contemporary when getting on bus, so they are not building an extra stop and in the past we have had to wait for a 2nd Monorail to arrive because there was a huge line. As for the shops let's not forget they can also get busy from the guests who go to the Contemporary just for the restaurants, so in both cases I don't think you will notice a huge difference.

:rolleyes1Just an FYI to the CR FAQ thread powers that be - the link for Contemporary Grounds isn't showing a menu (wdwinfo):

http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/dining/diningmain.cfm

:surfweb:Here is a link to Allears that does show a menu/prices (from 10/08 though):

http://allears.net/menu/menu_congr.htm

I stopped at the Contemp. Grounds for a large size Mocha on several mornings during our visit in March. I knew what I wanted so I can't say if that menu is exact but it is pretty darn close. Only thing I would say is the prices are actually lower now. I was only charged $5.75 for my large Mocha. (I have my resort cahrge print out right here). Also it is listed as a charge from Joffreys Coffee on my statement, not Contemp. Grounds. So the talk about Joffrey's running it before is probably correct.

LOWER prices? Did the cup get smaller:lmao:?

Maybe the Contemporary Grounds menu was taken off the wdwinfo Contemporary page because they are going to post an updated menu. So I will keep checking it during the next few days to see if that's going to happen.

I just ordered a 6" vanilla (standard) cake from private dining to be delivered to our room for my husband's birthday.

I was a bit disappointed there was nothing else available, or so I was told, besides this ordinary cake in a smaller size.

Does anyone have any different experience?

Did you check out the "Cake Chatter" thread on the Restaurants board? I know there are special celebration cakes available this year, too ... check out this link:

HTH a little! :)

Ok, so when I make the reservations in a few months for a package with QSD and park hopper tickets. Can I request a balcony/patio? Would it cost more? I'm sorry if these are stupid questions, its been decided in my house, we are staying there next year! I'm trying to learn everything I can!

Thanks for the advice!

Hi all....I just booked our first trip to CR. I grew up in Florida and even after we moved to MN we have always stayed in Pop or All Stars.

I am so excited I don't think my feet have hit the ground yet.

So, I just read this ENTIRE thread....very productive day at work:) I have a couple questions....

We are staying in a Magic Kingdom view, are the only Magic Kingdom views in the tower? Or do I have to make sure that is the type of room I have reserved?

I read somewhere that you can ask for turn down service even if not on a club level...is there a cost to this? Who would I call to set this up??

We are debating over the quick service and regular dining plan (I like having everything paid for in advance). Is there enough variety for quick service or are we better off with the regular dining plan?

From the tower they I heard it takes about 10 minutes to walk to the MK gate, does anyone know how far it is? Is it worth the walk at the end of the day or would it be easier to take the monorail? (3 boys, 10, 9 and 2)

THANKS IN ADVANCE for your help!!

I did, with not a whole lot of luck :) The cake hotline is for park and resort restaurants only. I had to call private dining to get a cake delivered to the room.

I was hoping someone else had done the same with better results :)

Thanks.

Congratulations!

The distance from CR door to the MK front gate is 1/2 mile. It seems shorter. The issue with walking back isn't so much distance as time. If you leave at closing or after Wishes, the monorail can be crowded. If not crowded, it is typically quicker to take the monorail.

MK view is tower only. I'm assuming you are not at Bay Lake Towers (the DVC resort next to CR which opens this summer).

You should check out google earth or windows live local if you want to waste more time at work ;) by seeing the distance and path between the CR and MK.

If you simply request a first floor room in the garden wing, you will end up with a patio. You might say you want a patio room to be sure you get one (even though I don't think any of the first floor garden wing room do not have patios). That in itself shouldn't cost you more but it doesn't guarantee you'll get what you request, either.

Room type (standard vs. garden view) are the ones where there is an added cost and then you are guaranteed those features as a minimum.

If you have a reservation for a Tower Magic Kingdom View then that's what you will get. The only other view in the Tower is the Bay Lake View, which is a different category.

When requesting turn down service I believe you call housekeeping, however they only do that if there is a housekeeper available, so think of it as a request.

Since my family and I have not done the any Dining Plan I can not answer that.

Walking to the Magic Kingdom would be faster because the Resort Monorail will stop at the TTC, Polynesian and Grand Floridian before arriving at the Magic Kingdom. However when leaving the Magic Kingdom the Contemporary is the next stop on the Resort Monorail, so if you choose not to walk back it's about a 30-45 second ride.
