What's bare minimum? It's not like they're required by law. Most other properties have far more than just 3.

The CR is big and spread out and it's amazing there is only 1 for the entire south wing. There are 2 for the tower.

When I was there a few weeks ago, from the airport, the stops on DME were:

Poly, GF, CR, then WL was to be last.

For our pickup, it was us first (CR), then Poly, then GF, THEN WL.

Even though my family and I have never used Magical Express before, from what I have read it's routes are never set in stone and can always change. So no one should ever think it's the same route all the time going to and coming from Orlando International Airport, like the Disney Transport buses since they are both different.

I wasn't referring to an actual number... but while the CR is big, your average resort isn't really designed like the CR was. So they probably figured that it would be a fairly similar amount of time from anywhere in the tower... but thats just my guess

Hey I have a question, when I read reviews for the hotel i keep on hearing about "movies on the beach" at the contemporary.

Do they play movies on the beach at the Contemporary hote? And how do they do it?

Yes they do..... They set up chairs and blow up a large screen on the sand between the pool and the lake. Not sure the movies are every night. They will be posted near the pool. Also, there are a lot of kids activities in the pool area throughout the afternoon now. When you check in they should give you a calendar for that particular week of all activities as well as movie times. :thumbsup2

Does CR share DME busses with the other monorail resorts?
Yep. On arrival we stopped at WL and Poly before arriving at CR. On Departure, we stopped at WL, Poly and GF. I didn't time it on arrival, but going back to the airport it took 90 minutes from the CR to the airport terminal. Doubtful I would use that service again.

Quick question - we will be arriving at the Contemporary on Tuesday, April 28 for a 7-night stay. Should we expect the area surrounding the pool to be pretty much dirt & contstruction fences? (I know the pool is open, but I'm curious as to what the view of the pool area from our room will look like).
Yep, the pool area doesn't look very nice at all. But for my boys, it got the job done.

Glad to hear you liked the Contempo Cafe. When it first opened, the Allears reviews were pretty negative.
I have to say I wasn't thrilled with the Contempo. It was very hit or miss for us. Nothing there was "very good" with the exception of the side of green beans and the home made potato chips. Make sure to try those. Most everything else was simply "ok". The pasta dishes that look really yummy in the photos in reality came out looking like frozen entrees even in the paper trays. They couldn't even bother putting it on a plate. The chicken alfredo one tasted ok though. But like I was eating a Lean Cuisine at home, not eating in a restaurant at an expensive hotel. CR should be embarrassed by that. The cheeseburger was not good at all neither was the flatbread pizza. Breakfast sufficed only since we didn't want to waste time going anywhere else.

Yep, we saw HSM3 and Finding Nemo while there. I don't think it was every night though. And I don't remember any other movies they showed. They also had a small fire where you could buy smores kits. It was a big hit with my kids. :thumbsup2

they do movies on the beach Mon-Fri nights (or maybe only Mon-Thurs). I do remember NO movies on the schedule on weekend nights.

Contempo Cafe excels at:

Honey Lime Chicken Sandwich

Multigrain Turkey BLT

Stacked Sandwich

Freshly made SALADS

WAFFLES with bananas and salted caramel sauce (YUM!)

Baked goods, particularly the muffins and CUPCAKES (omg...they are to DIE for...try the dulce de leche cupcake)

As mentioned: Cold Green Bean Salad and House Made Chips

Also, I thought the Marinated Beef Flatbread was very good. My sister and friend ordered it, and I had a taste, and I thought it was pretty good...not something I'd order, since I don't like goat cheese that much, but it was tasty. It's NOT pizza, but it's not supposed to be.

My TA just made my final payment this AM!!!
45 days, baby and we are there!!! :cool1::woohoo::yay::banana::cheer2:
Wish me luck on continuing to keep my secret! :wizard:

Congratulations! We'll be there around the same time as you, our dates are June 7-14. :goodvibes Oh, and good luck keeping the secret!

Brergnat We ate at the Contempo Cafe a few times and enjoyed some of the same things as you did...everything was good...I did have the marinated beef flatbread...delicious..I think this has very good CS meals..also I like that the offerings are kind of different...

Didnt get to try the waffles but it sounds good!... that will be a must try for our next trip...

I agree. I like that it's not the "same old" stuff that you find at most of the other CS locations around WDW. It's truly unique stuff, that you can ONLY find at Contempo. I appreciated the lack of "junk food". :thumbsup2

We actually ate there more than in the parks! I also liked that it was open until midnight...that was handy!

Does anyone know how big these are square foot wise, they look a lot bigger then the regular rooms. Also how comfty is the sofa bed? The picture posted in the thread shows two couches and a big dining room table, is that correct or did I read it wrong? Thanks in advance.

Hi guys - I'm about to unload a ton of questions - hope it's not overwhelming! Here goes:

Do any of the garden rooms have real balconies? Do the sliding doors really open on the ones that aren't real balconies?

Do all the garden rooms have a day bed or sleeper sofa?

I'm confused about the computer situation. If I wanted to use my own computer, do I have to pay? Do their computers really give free internet? Do the rooms have wireless?

Is the fitness center free for guests? I've seen conflicting posts. Also, is there a whirlpool in there? Plus, I saw somewhere that they have tanning booths. Does anyone know if they still do?

Are the buses ever shared with the other resorts? :goodvibes

Justine - welcome to the DIS! I'll try to answer what I know.

Some of the garden wing rooms do not have either a day bed or sleeper sofa. I stayed in a room (6108) which only had 2 queens in December 2007. I think it is the exception.

Word is that the computer terminals have been removed from all the rooms. You will have to pay for computer access. I'm not sure there is wireless (I brought my own cellular wireless card).

I am pretty sure the buses to AK and DHS are shared. DTD busses are shared as well.

Yes, the health club is free to guests (I love it:banana:).

Yes, there is a whirlpool, but at the pool only.

No tanning booths - you'll have to use the beach:beach:.

Thanks for the welcome and the answers! Do you know which resort the buses share with? Is it more than one?

When we were there in March the ME bus dropped off at Poly, and WL and then CR. The regular busses picked us up at CR and then went to Poly once and another time went to both Poly and WL. HTH!
