:thumbsup2HI! Just wanted to say how excited I am to be staying @ the CR in Jan. 2011. Started off planning the trip for just DH and I @ the CR but then decided on taking the kids. So I canceled CR and booked 2 rooms POFQ, since my sister is coming along. However I just kept thinking about the CR. So I did a little Disney math:thumbsup2 Low and behold we are now staying 3 nights @ Pop and the last 3 nights @ CR TPV and the other room BLV:woohoo: I keep seeing the views from other posters and I get more excited! Also the kids do not know they are coming along so it is a surprise for them:yay:
I hope you all have a great time. :thumbsup2

Not only did we enjoy the Boardwalk but it was even better then we could have thought, so it exceded our expectations.

I don't know if you read my trip reports but we obviously tried to stay Club Level at the Contemporary with the current Bounceback deal, however no matter the dates we tried it was sold out. So we orginally booked a Tower Bay Lake View with the Bounceback rate, then switched to the Boardwalk Standard Club Level Room. I also checked the AP rates along with the other room only deal and the Atrium Club was still sold out.

I'm so glad you liked it!! They are getting a little stingy about CL discounts lately. I saw your thread on the code board about it- just keep checking- something almost always pops up at the end (Points down to my signature with the upcoming CR trip that said Pop Century yesterday at this time :rolleyes1). Plus, I think there are only 6 or 8 of those deluxe rooms total, so I would guess those are tough to come by in general.

Have I mentioned today how EXCITED I am about returning to the CR??

(thanks, everyone, for indulging me :rotfl:)

I had been planning on posting a mini-review about my stay in CSR, in the CSR thread. However, I had been hornswaggled at our arrival. It seems my wife changed our reservation 4 months ago to be at the Contempoary Tower section. A nice surprise as I always expected to have to wait until the kids were grown before we could stay here, then still not be able to afford it.

I was pleasantly surprised at this 'upgrade' from a moderate to a deluxe. It was a good stay.

We checked in Sunday morning the 22, about 10:00, and we were in our room by 10:30. 9th floor, Bay Lake View, Room 4522. A nice view of the pool, and lake. We could easily see the electric water pagent each night. (Except the night it rained, and the night we got back too late to see it)

We were towards the end closest to BLT. To watch wishes, we only needed to go out the door to our room, and look out the end of the hotel. Kinda nice.

Our biggest pet peeve, was Mousekeeping. No towel animals, and no artful or humorous posing of our 'stuffies'. (Stuffed toys for the kids. I realize that this is probably 'above & beyond', but the guy seemed to be only interested in doing the bare minimum. We tipped the first few days, but when nothing changed after we forgot to tip, we stopped.

Mostly just little minor things, and they weren't upsetting as it seemed more like this guy just didn't pay attention.

He forgot to put the bag in the bathroom can. (The bag was there laying on top, just not lining the can.) Twice he forgot to empty the ice tray. I had placed a sticky note on the edge of a mirror, to indicate where a light bulb had burned out in a nearby lamp, and it was there for 2 days. Only when my daughter placed the sticky note in in the middle of the mirror, did the bulb get changed.

We think there was an issue with our refrigerator. It seemed to work intermittently. It wasn't enough of an issue to report, as it worked when we needed it to.

We really enjoyed having the monorail for access to Epcot and MK. At times I wished we could make the monorail go to the MK first, but the TTC would then be loaded up first, and that would leave almost no room for CR guests.

More to come, as it is time to head home.

I had no idea they had so few of those rooms, so I guess since we got it at 40% earlier this month we should be lucky.

Yes you have mentioned being excited a few times and I would keep saying it again and again, because there is nothing wrong with that.

Just returned from an awesome stay at BLT. This was our first stay here though we have stayed in both the Tower and Garden wings before. We had a 1 BR - room 7236 . Close to the elvator and overlooking the lake and Contemporary pools.
Mousekeeping - no animal towels like a previous poster said, but they did a good job of cleaning. We had 3 teenage girls making their home in the living area while DH and I took the bedroom. You can only imagine what their bathroom looked like and the main area :headache:
Convenience - loved the fact that we were able to walk to MK or catch the monorail. We did have a car so we used that to go to all the other parks but sometimes the girls went off on their own and used the busses and monorail without any problems!
Complaints - none - though there was an incidence where the girls were walking along the contemporary pathway and saw someone lying on the ground. He had on a Chef type uniform, got up went into the bushes and urinated. I informed a CM what happened and they were checking into it...
Cons - only 1 shared balcony. The AK 1 bdr has two seperate balconies...
Bathroom sink in main living area should have drawers or lots of shelving to accommodate hair dryers, straightners, cosmetics, girl stuff etc It is like a pedestal sink. I get they were trying to keep the modern theme but they could have come up with something better..

Other than that, we had a great stay and would highly recommend the BLT 1 bdrm. Cannot beat two bathrooms, rooms done very modern and clean. Also loved having the w/d .

Any questions, let me know! Oh and the lines were short all week long! Horray!

Thanks for posting your review. When are you returning?

I'm really glad that you informed a CM about the incident the girls witnessed on the MK walkway. Obviously, that should never happen anywhere, not to mention that it's illegal. Thank you for reporting it! That must have been very scary for the girls to see. Just curious, do you know if he was heading toward the CR or toward the MK? I'm going to assume he had parked in the CR's employee lot and was heading either to the CR or back to his car? Despicable behavior.

To continue:

I enjoyed the size of these rooms. Wow! It felt like it was a mile to the bathroom in the wee hours. We had the two queens, and the full-size futon like bed. The kids each had thier own beds, while we had a size similar to what we use at home. I'm not sure we can go back to a value sized room anymore.

The dressers were adequate for a family of 3. We needed perhaps another few drawers, for my clothes to fit. With the suitcase stand, I set up a suitcase next to the TV. I lived out of it for the week, and we brought along some laundry bags so we weren't leaving piles around the floor.

We found that we perhaps could have used some more cubbies or shelves, but we made what did exist, work for us. I would have liked a second chair in the room.

The bathroom sinks were a little odd. They drained poorly, and you had to be careful to clean it out, to make sure nothing stayed behind. I usually used a glass and splashed around the water. The shower head was tall enought for me (6'1") to use with only minor adjustments. The toilet had a loud vacuum-like flush, but with both doors closed, it did not make enough noise to wake anyone.

The elevators were fast. My wife had one complaint about them, and that was you couldn't take the main elevators right to the monorails. I explained why this would not be feasible. :)

The cafe was OK. We had lunch there only one day, and it was OK. We mostly ate breakfast, and then usually dine-n-dash. However, I enjoyed the pressed sandwhich for breakfast, while the kids liked the platter. We paid out of pocket for these meals usually, and most of the time it was about $32.00, for 4 meals, and some beverages. We did not parake of the mugs, as we only ate one meal in the cafe each day, and did not return to the hotel until late in the evening most days.

We did not sample the Wave or California Grill. We did eat at Chef Mickey's one night, but this was planned ahead of time. Had we stayed elsewhere, Chef's would still have been in our plans.

We did spend part of one day at the pool. My DD loved the play area, and my DS liked the slide. I thought it was too short, but hey, they had one. The lifeguards were plentiful, and seemed to genuinely enjoy thier jobs. I did not try the spa/hot tub. The common pool was a perfect size for my DS & DD, to practice their swimming, without any fear of sinking too deep. Of course, that means it was a bit short for us taller folk, but it worked for me.

We were initially confused about which shop to pick up our purchases from. Bay View Gifts is the store, not Fantasia, for anyone who wants to know.

That's about it. I will have to get a full TR done later, as I must download the 1600+ pics from the camera, and then shrink them down a bit to be posted. Then I need to actually write the report. TTFN!

The girls are all 17 so they were thinking that it was sketchy. It happened right between the Contemporary and the BLT walkway just about 500 feet from the guest parking lot. There are lots of shrubs and bushes hiding a generator type thing in there. The girls were meeting us in front of the CR as we were loading our bags and getting our boarding passes. We walked back and the guy was still in the bushes! He was sort of fumbling around in there, my DH thought maybe he was the gardner? Anyway, the girls went on to the pool and I went to inform a CM he headed through the bushes into the service delivery area and that was the last I saw of him. Hopefully they have security cameras and they can reroll the tape and find out exactly who it is!
We are back now sadly. Miss it already! Even DH who usually by day 7 can't wait to get home wanted to stay longer!

Hi,

I have a silly question and looked in the first post for the answer but can't find it so I'm hoping an expert can help me!

What are the hours for bell services? Here is why I am asking, we are transferring from another resort to BLT and then going to MNSSHP. I know I can transfer luggage between resorts, but I just don't know how late they will bring it up at night. I know we could get a taxi and move it ourselves, but transferring seems so much easier-I hate moving luggage!

Thanks so much!

I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you to everyone on this fabulous CR thread for posting photos and trip reports - especially WSWKOOK when I asked the refrigerators in the rooms and CR Fan of course!

staying at BLT sept 23-29. Does anyone know how old or tall you have to be to go on the waterslide? I was wondering if my 3 and 4 year old will be able to ride, even if they have to go on my lap. Also are they allowed to wear floatation devices in the pools?
I would appreciate any tips you can give me! thanks!

We were just at the BLT and there were young children going down the slide. They are allowed to wear flotation devices in the pool. There are two slides, one for young children that that is only a few feet above the ground and the big slide. Hopefully someone can confirm for you the age requirements! You are going to love it. They also have a sprinkler type play area that your little ones may enjoy as well! Have a blast!!! :woohoo:

I just got back from there, and I saw kids as young as 5 & 6 using the slide. The rules state you are not to go down in pairs, and I did not see anyone violate this rule, but then again, there were no kids as young as yours using the slide.

The current is a little strong at the end. It surprised me. I'd be careful you don't get swamped under.

As far as floatation devices, they have vests available for use by kiddies, in two different sizes.

I would say by the time you return from MNSSHP your luggage should be in your room. I want to say bell service is 24 hours because guests can basically check-in at anytime, although I am not 100% sure about that.
