Woo Hoo. Just booked two nights at the CR. I'm doing it backwards (start at CR and then move to a Value), but it worked out that way. I had two nights before my free dining reservation (at a Value) starts, I'm on my own the first night, I can take the monorail to/from the half-marathon start and I can walk to MK the morning of the marathon and avoid all the marathon road closures.

I've never stayed at a monorail resort (though we did stay at the Disney Inn, when it still existed).

So excited.
I hope you have a great time staying there and if you have any questions about the Contemporary feel free to ask.

Thanks.

Actually, I do have a question.

I've never actually put in a room request, but everyone on here seems to do so. I have a Tower room (Bay Lake view). I cannot imagine there being that much difference between the rooms (unlike other resorts, they are all in the same building), but is there anything that would be good to request? I request high floor wherever I stay (WDW or not), so I probably will for this stay, but anything else....

Thanks.

That is the view we always book and this is what I always request:

~High floor far from Chef Mickey's (This helps with the "Celebration Song" noise:eek:)

~Odd numbered room (Your bed will face toward FW, WL, Epcot instead of toward BLT)

Good luck!

Thanks for the review. Staying for our first time this week. You don't happen to have the Halloween Activities do you? Hope I'm not bugging everyone but I though since you just got back maybe you would have them tucked away somewhere. :laundy:

I just have the generic October Activities sheet. The only thing it mentions about Halloween is the "Movie Under the Stars" at 7:30pm will be Tower of Terror. Nothing else specific about Halloween...sorry.

Thanks.

Besides what WDWKOOK said for you to request I am not sure if you already knew this but the highest possible non Club Level floor you can request in the Tower is the 11th floor.

We are planning to stay here in May. My question is; will the King and the daybed be big enough for a faomily of four? My children are 5 and 2. This is the room I quoted on the Disney site. Thanks for any help!!

I would be a tight fit, (head to toe?) but I believe someone once posted that their two children stayed in the day bed.

However, if you are actually in a Deluxe Room, I believe it has a large sofa sleeper and not a day bed. Here is a link to photos of the Deluxe Room:

We just got back from a deluxe room...I thought it was great! We loved having the extra room that a "regular" hotel room wouldn't have. We had plenty of space for luggage, the double stroller, and there's a large area between the bed and TV where the kids could play.

The deluxe room has a King size bed and a pullout sofa sleeper, probably a Queen size. I slept with my girls (6 and 22 months) in the King bed and DH slept on the pullout. As long as someone doesn't mind sleeping on the pullout, there is plenty of room.

There are only 3 rooms like this, and I would definitely request the 1st floor since it has 2 patios that open up to the pool and lake (the upstairs don't have balconies). You just walk right out your door and it's a really short walk to the lobby...we thought it was really convenient not having to get on an elevator and you know your room will be close to the main building (some of the garden rooms are a bit of a walk).

Anyway, we would definitely stay in a deluxe room again!

Thanks for your report, we have stayed in the Tower Theme Park view and our next visit is going to be the Garden Wing. I love the Contemporary and after reading your review I am not worried about not staying in the Tower. I loved being able to walk the Magic Kingdom to me that is a Big Plus :thumbsup2 Glad you had a great trip :)

We have stayed at the CR 3 times. The first time was a garden view in the garden wing- it was lovely and quiet! Second time was in the tower with a MK view- breathtaking and convenient! Third time was back in the wing, standard view. I was a little concerned it would be "strange" going back to the wing, but it wasn't at all! In fact, we could actually see a lot of the fireworks from the room! It was a top floor room, and I really didn't miss the balcony at all. Plus it didn't feel like we were "away" from everything by adding that extra few minutes to get to the room. (On the plus side, it is a lot more convenient to get to the pool from the wing.)

HTH!

I hope you have a great time.
Thanks!

Just back from a week in WDW, 4 nights in a studio at BLT and 3 nights in a 1BD at BWV. The studio was plenty big for my husband and I. The bathroom sink arrangement was strange. When I read all of the posts I thought it wouldn't be a big deal but have to admit it was somewhat unsanitary with my hair spray all over the place. It became kind of a joke, 'Have you seen my deoderant? Yes, its in the kitchen." :rotfl2:

We were on the 11th floor with a lake view (room 8137). I was a little disappointed with the view as we actually looked directly at the rooms accross from us with the lake on the right. Being near MK was great, really magical seeing the castle and monorail every day. We are DVC and took advantage of the lounge a couple times. Really liked having that perk and the fireworks view from there is great although you are looking at a side view of the castle.

Any questions, let me know.

Too funny about the sinks_ that will be weird for us I'm sure.
Did you ever try out the pull out couch to sleep on?

Thanks for all of your help!! I think we have changed our minds about the deluxe garden wing, not because of the size. Are all of the theme park veiw rooms in the tower? I would assume they would not put you one the first floor if you had the theme park veiw? Thanks again.

Yes all the Theme Park View rooms are located in the Tower and they go from the 6th floor to the 11th floor.

Can someone remind me?

I have a tower room MK view...... this time NOT club level as we were sorely disappointed for the extra bucks...

I forget, I should ask for an odd numbered room, correct???

It took me a month to get ANY days at the CR... guess that is what I get for deciding to go to DW in 90 days!!!!

Just booked a studio room in Bay Lake Tower for the end of Jan/beginning of Feb (Contemporary was booked at room discount rate). Can anyone tell me where the covered walkway to the Contemporary leads to? (i.e. 4th floor?) Also, is the distance similar to staying in the garden wing?

I share some of your same CR CL price-difference disappointment.

Yes, the odd-numbered rooms will have your bed facing toward the castle.

I hope you have a great trip!

Yes, the skyway leads to CR's 4th floor Concourse from the 5th floor of BLT.

The distance depends on where in BLT you are. If you are all the way over on the BL/MK side then your walk would be longer. If you are on the CR side, your walk will be shorter because that's the side of BLT that the skyway is on.

Thanks for the info! Is the first week in Feb a big convention week? Just suprised that the Contemporary is booked (or maybe just booked for discount code rooms?). I'll probably keep checking back to see if anything opens up; Bay Lake looks wonderful but I'm worried the studio is going to be on the small side for 2 adults/2 kids.

I don't know if it's a big convention week in general but the one I'm attending could bring in about 600 people including families of attendees. The convention itself is Jan 31-Feb 5

Don't forget if you want a room away from Chef Mickey's be sure to ask for an odd room number away from there.

You know...speaking of that I'm having a hard time deciding if I want to put in any special requests. We are CL 12th floor on the Bay Lake side. Common requests include opposite end from Chef Mickey's and an odd number room so the bed doesn't face BLT. We have only stayed once on that side of the CR since BLT was being built (last December was MK side and May last year was Lake), but we actually kind of liked an even numbered room. That way when we are standing and looking out you don't see much of BLT. When we are in bed at night (after the water pageant) we close the curtains when we are staying on that side because of the sun in the morning, so we really kinda don't care that you see BLT from the bed.

As far as Chef Mickey's is concerned we actually don't remember ever hearing it no matter where our room has been. I think I will leave the room request blank this time and just see what happens. :goodvibes
