The ALL NEW Disney's Contemporary Resort & Bay Lake Tower FAQ with PICs! (FEB 2010)

You know...speaking of that I'm having a hard time deciding if I want to put in any special requests. We are CL 12th floor on the Bay Lake side. Common requests include opposite end from Chef Mickey's and an odd number room so the bed doesn't face BLT. We have only stayed once on that side of the CR since BLT was being built (last December was MK side and May last year was Lake), but we actually kind of liked an even numbered room. That way when we are standing and looking out you don't see much of BLT. When we are in bed at night (after the water pageant) we close the curtains when we are staying on that side because of the sun in the morning, so we really kinda don't care that you see BLT from the bed.

As far as Chef Mickey's is concerned we actually don't remember ever hearing it no matter where our room has been. I think I will leave the room request blank this time and just see what happens. :goodvibes
This past August when we were staying on the 12th floor with the Bay Lake View our room was right over the Contempo Cafe and close to Chef Mickey's, however not once did we ever hear any noise from there.

That's right! I forgot about Chef Mickey's!! Better get that request in asap!!!

There must be a convention....... or two! Because I could book (with discount) Jan. 29-31st and then Feb. 2-6 but not Feb. 1.

And actually, they couldn't even find a ROOM (discounted or not) on Feb. 1

Weird, huh? That is why I am doing a split stay.

Thanks!, i was trying to remeber what plac i was forgetting to write down of must do's for our March trip. It was Chef Mickeys:cool1:

Sorry if I am missing this information somewhere (if I am, please point me to where it is), but if anyone has stayed atrium club level recently, how was your stay? I have heard some "not so good reviews" of the offerings compared to other times they have stayed. Our last stay was December 2007.

Thanks!

Our most recent stay up there was in August 2010 and just like our previous trips we thought it was great, the Cast Members working up there were amazing, the food offerings were wonderfull and we had no issues.

Ah! Thanks-we always love it there, so glad to hear it's still great!

We are staying in a MK view room in early December (first time at CR). I have not added any requests to my reservation, but I keep playing around with the ones I see mentioned on here....higher floor, away from Chef Mickey's, odd numbered room (so bed faces castle). I have also heard from other threads that it is best to keep your room requests to one (or at the very most) two.

How important are the 3 room requests above? How noisy will it be if I am on a lower floor closer to CM's? Which request would be the highest priority based on your experience?:confused3

Thanks much!
Pam :)

Based on our many CR visits, I have always requested, in this order:

~Far from CM
~High floor
~Odd numbered room

Our request has always been met (however, we always stay BLV). But if I had to narrow it to two requests, I would leave out the odd-numbered room request. Being far from CM is most important to us, yet to some it doesn't seem to matter at all.

If your room location isn't what you hoped for, you can always reiterate your requests at check-in and see if something more to your liking is available.

BTW, we also did a CR/YC split stay in August (and AKL, too).

Good luck!

I know most people LOVE CL. Unfortunately, last Feb. we didn't have such a great experience on Atrium CL. Nothing was special.

No special check-in ("oh sorry, there is no one around from CL to help you.....in fact we waited longer than my brother who had checked in online),

During our stay the CMs were often missing and not all that helpful when they were present, the food was the same every day and there wasn't much of it. More people eating than seemed possible every day.....

Maybe something weird was going on though during that time, my brother (staying on the 11th floor, non-CL) ended up coming up to Atrium level 3/5 days he was there to get drinks.....he thought it was a cool, free perk of the CR.....we didn't realize until the last day that he was getting beer on our floor (thought he was getting it downstairs and bringing it up!). We don't know how he even got up on our floor without the special key, he never realized we were on a special floor!!!

I also really need protein for my breakfast and there just wasn't a lot of that to be seen for the CL breakfast (or much of anything really and we were up and about early for rope drop every day). CL in general was just not what it had been cracked up to be for us.....

Nothing was really bad (except check in), I just thought it was a LOT of extra money for not a lot of extras. I think regular MK view is just as great!:wizard:

How did you like your split stay? It's just DD12 and I, we have never done a split stay, never stayed deluxe, and never been at Christmas time. Needless to say, we are VERY excited

I am feeling like we will get the best of both worlds....5 nights of being walking distance from MK and 5 nights of walking distance (or boat) from Ep & DS. We are actually spending our first night (12/2) at POFQ, as I could not get into CR for that night. Plan to take advantage of their proximity to DTD and the boat transportation for that first day.

So that means, we will only need to "bus" for the one day we will go to AK! That will be a big change for us....can't wait for this trip!!!!

Thanks again!

Well if it helps this past August when we were on the 12th floor our room was right over the Contempo Cafe and very close to Chef Mickey's without actually being right over it, however not once did we hear any noise from there. So I guess if you are going to be close to there that would be the type of room which would be ok.

Hey CR Fan: I noticed that you are arriving at WDW the same day as me! I'll be across Crescent Lake at the Beach Club. Maybe I'll see you sometimes during the week.

Good news bad news guys..... bad news is that we had to cancel our November 2011 trip to BLT...... :sad1:

GOOD NEWS!!!! we made new ressies at WLV for June of 2011!!!!!!!!!! :cool1:

I so wanted to stay at BLT, but it wasn't in the cards.....oh well...maybe some other trip!:wizard:

I really enjoyed this thread! Hope everyone has a wonderful time on their own vacations at the BLT!!!! :thumbsup2

let's see....for starters you can epect to see my g/f and I, we arrive 12/1  I'm guessing you've probaly seen all the tips, pics, etc by now. I'f not, read through the very first page of this thread.

One of the biggest items though is figuring out which channel on the TV plays the music for wishes (i think it's 20). Watching the fireworks from the balcony is great, but it's even better if you turn the sound up on the TV and listen. Last year when i was there in September, they even played the music for Hallowishes. I'm assuming they will do the same for the christmas party wishes.

Are you taking Disney Magical Express? CR is the last stop after Poly, GF, and WL, so prepare yourself (and have something for the kiddos to do) for a long ride.

When we went was the first time on DME, and were definitely not ready for that. If you don't have too many carry-ons, you could get off at Poly, the first stop, and then take the monorail to CR. You'll get there before the bus, and it's never too early to get on the monorail!

I am not sure if you read about this on here but if you request an odd numbered room then your beds would face the Magic Kingdom, so it can be the very 1st thing you see each morning when you wake up.

You're welcome, pamelasu1.

I'm glad we did the tri-split stay, however, overall the CR is still our favorite WDW resort. I loved being able to walk back and forth from Epcot to the YC, but we really missed the CR and BL and the MK area resorts and being able to walk to the MK and monorail to Epcot.

It was just DD (11 at the time, now 12) and me, too and will be for one more trip over Christmas. We also have never been at Christmas:scared1:. We always go in Value season, usually in August. The Parks will be secondary this trip as the crowds will be intense. We'll take it easy on Christmas Day with some horseback riding and avoid the Parks altogether on that day. The other days, we'll only do the park that doesn't have EMH, since they will be less crowded.

Have a great vacation:santa: (Oh, they have a really nice food court at POR.)
