is going to be soggy this year, I forgot to leave some money for the paper boy.

I only get the paper for the TV section (and the free mailbox that they gave me a few years back). That's about all the Akron paper is good for. No tip for the paperboy (again) this year. But I will tip the garbageman before the end of the year. He's my hero because he takes away all by trash. I can't imagine life without his hard work.

Towncrier, I don't want to have to start calling you Mr. Scrooge. I use to be a paperboy (Washington Post), many years ago, and was up at 3:30 AM to deliver the paper by 6:00 AM. After delivering the papers I would eat, shower and then go to school. Christmas was a wonderful time because the tips were so much better than the other months. However, todays "paper boys" are now 45 years old, driving a car and forgetting to place the TV channel guide in the paper . Please, remember the little people too.

I was a paperboy for many years. I carried 30 papers on my bicycle on a route that was nearly 5 miles long. I knew all my customers by name, and they knew me. I not only delivered the papers, I also collected the money for them.

I've never met my ABJ carrier. I don't even know his/her name. The money for the ABJ is deducted from my checking account once a month. As far as I know, the paper appears by magic. The last time I left a tip in an envelope for the carrier, it got shoved out the back of the tube and onto the ground. I found it several days later in a pile of snow.

I guess the bottom line is that I don't think that my particular carrier is doing anything extra to earn a tip. Perhaps I am being a bit of a Scrooge. And maybe I'll reconsider my position and try again.

I don't blame you, Towncrier. I just can't afford to "tip" every Tom, Dick, and Harry that I run into during my year.
