~*~The After-Twilight Bookclub!!!~*~

I recently read the book, Ivy by Julie Hearn. While it wasn't what I expected I think it was good if you like this sort of book.

my review from goodreads.com: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2525411.Ivy

I finished City of Bones on Friday-did NOT like the twist but I'll continue the storyline to see if it gets better.
Now I'm reading Darkfever by Karen Marie Moning-that heroine reminds me of Sookie!

Dead Witch Walking was recommended to me by my DMIL who is a heavy duty reader/librarian. I liked the characters but not the plot and it took awhile to get going. There is humor though and for me that saves it! I especially love the pixie character.

Unfortunately, something happens (not nearly as severe as CoB) that sort of irritates me at the end but it's not too annoying at all. We can talk after you finish. Most might not even find it annoying at all, actually.

It's a series and I just couldn't go on with it because there were so many other books in my "to-read" list at the time. I plan on returning to it someday though!

Book 2 of CoB was really similar in style/pace and i liked it, too. It's annoying because I enjoy the style/pace but not some of the plot (Man I"m picky!). I started City of Glass last night.

I've been trying to read Bitten which is the "Women of the Underworld" series which is highly touted by the paranormal types (Sookie, Dead Witch, etc etc..) but while it isn't doused in bodice rippage, it's not very funny. IT's not funny at all. I have a hard time with that. I bet it's good though I can't seem to go on! It's overdue at the library now so I'll probalby quit. I hate the idea of giving up though! You read it and tell me what you think!

I didn't even see this thread before-thanks for linking it!

I saw that you couldn't get into Outlander-don't worry about it. I loved that whole series but my mother who reads more than I do couldn't finish the first book. Different strokes for different folks!:hippie:

I'm glad to hear that you were okay with CofA for the most part. I saw that people were complaining about how Cassandra Clare had stolen alot of plot points from other series and now I'm seeing it in retrospect. Oh well, I'm only looking for good, funny, light reading. I don't need to book to change my world-Twilight already did that, right?:thumbsup2

Yup, you got it. My DH watched it last night as a MD present to me. Of course, he has been to 70% of the sets in the movie so it was fun in that way. He likes to predict the plot and laugh but it's all good. ;) I hadn't watched it at home yet. I had seen it 3 times in the theaters but not at home. Since the last time I saw it I visited more of the set locations (without DH this time) like the scene where he reveals himself (did you see my video?) and some other stuff. I'm waiting for the other members of the tour -there were a large group of us seeing the sights - to give me more pics as we traded cameras often and then I will post a TR of my trip! :thumbsup2

Talk soon! - Oh yea, I did a "compare books" for the two of us on goodreads...we have 20 books in common

I would bet that we would have more books in common if I really filled out goodreads with everything I've read.:rolleyes1

I dragged my DH to the movies for Mother's Day. We saw Star Trek on the IMAX-it was great. He's not a movie going person but loves Star Trek so it wasn't a hard sell.popcorn::

He finally watched the DVD of Twilight about a month ago and really liked it. He liked all the foreshadowing for next time.

Hey, this is OT but I remember you enjoying some of the SNL shorts. Did you see the Mother's Day one with Justin Timberlake? It was so wrong but I was peeing my pants!:rotfl2:

BTW, I greatly enjoyed your video!

well, i finished the lily bard series by charlaine harris yesterday. The "shakespeare" ones.

i really liked them although i felt that lily and sookie are way too similar.

one thing that really got me was in the last book, i won't spoil it if anyone else is interested in reading them but i should mention that i was reading it while hanging around inthe library on my lunch break and cried my eyes out! Harris never made me cry before!

if you are looking for a gripping mystery series this isn't for you, it's more fluffy then suspenseful.

Nice! I want to see the Star Trek movie too.. I'm not a Trekkie but I had a REALLY good time turning myself into a vulcan on this website:

Darn it.. we put some new filters on my PC and I can't get to the page. :headache: Anyway, google this: "Trek yourself" and try it.. it's fun!

thanks! :happytv: I look so ridiculous. What I won't do for the BBG :cool2:

What do you mean by fluffy? I've been reading too many serious books lately.

just that it isn't a very suspenseful book. Lily (the main character) has a pretty sad past and it makes her a very serious person, so she's very dry.

if you're looking for light hearted this isn't it.

anyway, i read 'evernight' by claudia gray yesterday. i really really liked it for a YA book. easy read, interesting take on vampires. not in league with twilight though.

Hmmm interesting! I had read the first Lily Bard book and have the second one on my shelf. Now I'm thinking that I need to get back to that series to figure out what you are talking about!:surfweb:

Has anyone read the Morrigan's Cross series by Nora Roberts? I picked up the first three at the used bookstore today.

Its on my could not finish bookshelf:

Here is my review -
Tried it as a book on tape. Corn-E. Lame story premise... lame character development. Ridiculously obvious pace/plot.

Honestly, I even skipped forward a bit and TRIED to see if something interesting, fresh, or fun would happen. Nope. :sad2:

However, different strokes for different folks. Maybe there's something there I couldn't see?

i'm lowie over there too. although i haven't added any books to review. i've just been too lazy;)

i started vampire academy yesterday, i was able to go all three at the library. it's another interesting take on vampires although it's very slow to make explanations and get into any real action. i'm on page 188 i still feel like the author is still explaining the types of vampires, etc.

mel, don't skip the bards because of me, they are really very quick to read and were enjoyable if there is nothing else you're dying to get to. ykwim?
