~*~The After-Twilight Bookclub!!!~*~

Oh, I read The Host ages ago after my Twilight binge, lol. I have Gargoyle on my list of things to read.

OK, finished FaeFever and now have to decide to splurge on the hardcover for the next book or wait. I think it just came out, so may have to wait a while. Faefever left off with a real cliffhanger so I really want to find out what happens! I found the books so far good, but I think it would be nice to find out just a bit more about some of the 'mysterious' characters - nothing to give away the farm, but the 'know nothing at all' gets a bit old at times. I would have thought she would have given us a bit more by now. Also, these are definately not 'romance' in my opinion (where they are located in the bookstore). I would definately rate them under the sci/fi-fantasy genre. I am going to try out a few more suggestions on this thread and see what I think. Will let you know how it goes.

just a little book vent... why can't publishers put the number of the book right on the cover when it is part of a series??? grrr, my pet peeve of the day!

I fully AGREE!

However, you can go to http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/ for chronilogical details. They do a good job of grouping books and telling you the order, etc.

I've got both of those books coming up in my queue....

The covers make it them look like they're going to be full of romance but they're not....I actually wish there was more or at least some romance in the series myself. :(

Sorry I know this is a repeat post for those of us on the regular Twilight thread!

I saw the movie Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire's Assitant and I have to say it was AWESOME! Kinda low budget and sometimes strangely edited BUT IT WAS SO MUCH FUN! My DD12, DD13(big chicken), and DH all loved it, too. It was a great show.. funny, suspenseful, sorta scary, and really whimsical. It reminded me of something Tim Burton would do. 8 thumbs up! :thumbsup2

My DD12(reluctant reader) is starting the first book in the series right now! woot!

I definitely recommend it on the big screen. It was well worth the price of admission (and I'm pretty cheap!).

I haven't read anything completely wonderful lately.. I did really enjoy a book called "The Minister's Daughter"... would make for a good discussion book, I think.

the review above comes from a pretty cute little website. Here is the homepage:

I also read a book called "Dreamhunter" but wasn't that impressed with it. It was a very original concept but felt unrealized, for me at least. I don't feel compelled to go on with book 2 even though I did like the "world" that was created. Not enough action maybe? I dunno.

"The Gargoyle" was Fantastic!! Get thee to a bookstore . . .

Now starting "Dark Lover" (Black Dagger Brotherhood series). Pretty fun read. I needed something "light" after "The Gargoyle". The characters are interesting enough so I can't wait to read the other books about the other brothers!

On Amazon, go to the Kindle Store and search Free Kindle Books. The books change often, so download them while they are free if you remotely think you might read it in the future! Sometimes you have to do a bit on hunting on Amazon for the newer free books. I LOVE my Kindle! Enjoy yours.

thanks for the info.. i found a boatload of free books on their best seller list, that included one by laurell k hamilton that i've wanted to read.

now off to ebay to get accessories!

Am starting the Dark Hunter series - have read the first two. Someone suggested I start at the beginning as I got Ascheron to read while on DCL last year and found it good, but pretty graphic and therefore made me kinda 'icked out'. So, now going back to the proper order to see if I can redeem myself. ;) First 2 books were OK, interesting but pretty light reading. It kinda seemed like a big work up to the end and then the actual 'big event' was a bit of a let down - characters accomplished their tasks with seeming ease....anyway seemed that way to me....but will keep reading and see how I feel after a few more, god knows there are enough in the series LOL.....

i've read the whole series.. well, and bought them too, they fill up a whole shelf in my library! Acheron was by far my favorite, but i think it is because i read them in order. You really get to know and love him throughout the series. They are certainly not wonderful pieces of literature, but i enjoyed them and would recommend them to others.

I've finished Lara Adrian's Midnight Breed series and LOVED them. they are a slightly toned down version of the Black Dagger Brotherhood. I wish there was better interaction with the 'breed' guys like in the BDB series.

Honestly I've read so much i find it hard to keep it all straight in my head. I really need to get on good reads and do some reviewing.

God, I'm dying to know what happens. I can say VA is the best vamp series after Twilight so far, it's different and intruiging.

I agree, its one of the better ones (and i’ve read some real flops) the description on the book really makes it sound cheesy so didn’t pick it up right away….I'm currently struggling through the Nightwalkers series, it has its moments but i wont be holding my breath for book 6

really?? wow, i think the black dagger brotherhood, lara adrian's midnight breed series and a few others were way better then these books. house of night may have even better up until the 3rd book... oh, and sookie stackhouse... lordy the list goes on and on... for me.... :goodvibes

Black Dagger Brotherhood!! I'm on Rehvenge's book now! Love them. I also loved Colleen Gleason's Gardella Vampire Chronicles. Series of 4. They were fantastic. Victorian vamps with a strong heroine. Nothing as steamy as the Brothers though!
