Before I start on this I just wanted to mention that I completely omitted some really great character interaction with Buzz, Woody, and Jessie at MGM yesterday...sorry to bring it up now I just wanted to make sure to tell you not to miss them...they are great together!! On with the show....

Day 6– Wed. Sept. 17

Today is the day I get to fulfill one of my life’s dreams. I am going to Discovery Cove to swim with the dolphins. Fred and Jared are going to hang out at the resort and have a rest day. I leave them in the a.m. with a spring in my step and an anticipatory smile on my face. When I arrive at DC I am like a kid at Christmas. Just in case there are any Disney folk that don’t care to read about this I will try and keep it short. If you have any ? just PM me. I am leaving out a lot of the details. This place is really beautiful and I get a dolphin swim time of 9:55 in the Starfish Cabana. I head off to put on a wet suit, as I was a little afraid of the water temp. Let me just say something about putting on a wet suit…it is kind of like putting on full body pantyhose! Not fun at all. :(I check out the lazy river area and come back to get ready for my swim and run into a problem when I can’t find my bag that they give you, that holds snorkel equipment, towel, sunscreen, and any personal items. Now they all look the same so I am guessing someone accidentally picked mine up by mistake. I really think they should do something different with these bags. I’m sure I’m not the only person this has happened to.
I looked for it for a while and then had to go to my swim. I was put into a group with 7 others and we headed out to meet our dolphin named Scarlet. I absolutely loved the swim and completely forgot about the water temp once Scarlet arrived. I could of skipped the wet suit I think. We got to pet and learn some things and then it was time for the kiss, feed her a snack, give her a hug and get some pics taken, use a few signals on her, get to get a ride back in to shore on her, see some tricks and then say goodbye. This experience was well worth the money and I would do it again in a heartbeat. I really felt like it was a worthy amount of time with her and realized that the more questions that we asked the trainers the longer the interaction. I spent a little time trying to snorkel in the stingray and fish lagoon. I found that I was really bad at this. LOL I almost killed myself!! Had some lunch, which was very good and checked out the aviary and then rested and took in the atmosphere for a while and did a little shopping for DS who was a little sad he didn’t get to come. I picked up my dolphin swim pics and then called it a day. This really was a dream come true and honestly one of the best experiences of my life.

After leaving there my plan was to make a quick stop at Animal Kingdom to pick up some pics that weren’t ready when we went the other day. This was relatively easy and quick. I headed back to the lodge. I caught up with my guys when I got off the elevator; they were just coming back from the pool. They had gone to Ft. Wilderness for breakfast at Trail’s End and my hubby said it was one of the best breakfast’s he ever had. He took Jared on a pony ride (why, I have no clue as we spend a lot of time with horses owned by friends- oh well). They did a little shopping…. Jared finagled 2 more pins out of Dad. :) Their original intent had been to rent a water mouse but for reasons we have yet to figure out when they went to do it Jared freaked and was afraid so they didn’t go. They spent most of the day at the pool and Fred tried unsuccessfully to get Jared to nap.

Our plan for the evening was for Jared to go to Cub’s Den while we had some alone time. We hung out for a while and then I took Jared to the Cub’s Den. He basically couldn’t wait for me to leave and really enjoyed himself there. They served him dinner, which he chose and he got a treat. When we picked him up he didn’t want to leave and was watching Monster’s Inc.

We originally had PS for WCC but I really didn’t want to eat there again so I convinced DH that we should enjoy concierge and then have dessert from WCC. :) After we had some things from the lounge we headed down to the pool bar and had a drink while chatting with the very nice bartender. We then spent about an hour in the hot tub!! AHH! Total relaxation! This was great. I ALMOST felt bad about leaving Jared at the Cub’s Den. LOL. We decided to pick up Jared and share our dessert with him. As we were heading back to the room Jared became fascinated by the caricature artist doing some work and he really wanted to have this done. My son is quite the budding artist and we are wondering if he may end up doing some type of artistry in his life. We promised we would have one done later in the week. We again watched the fireworks from our balcony and they seemed to be especially good…. or maybe it was just the euphoria from the day. :)
I was on my way to order the desserts to go from WCC when I ran into Majestic’s (Fred) wife in the hall and she mentioned that they had changed rooms. Here it is………the surprise!! They were now staying in the Vice Presidential suite!!! Holy Cow!!! She sheepishly offered a tour, which I gladly accepted. This suite is just as incredible as Fred describes in his trip report. I was insanely jealous and very pleased for them at the same time!! They were so excited and I loved sharing that excitement with them. I couldn’t decide what I liked more: the bathtub you could swim in, the couch with the big TV, or the separate bedroom with TV. Can you tell I was a little TV deprived at this point in the vacation? In any case it was fabulous and I had fun celebrating with them for a few minutes. They graciously offered my family to spend some time with them there, which we would of loved but unfortunately we never made it there. Sorry guys! Not that you really needed us anyway. LOL I did finally go get those desserts from WCC. They were great about making them to go and we enjoyed sharing a Chocolate Moose Stampede alamode and a Caramel Apple Pie alamode in bed. They were great even if they did cost a fortune!!! LOL. We called it a night.

Coming up…. Sea World and DH hits “the wall”.

I want to do the thing with the dolphins one day too! I was insanely jealous of you that day as you were of us. Glad it was a magical experience for you. Those are the ones to remember and hold on to dearly.

Fred

Thank you for sharing your experience. It sounds wonderful. I would love to swim with the dolphins one day. It sounds like you guys had a wonderful time.

Hi corky, I have been really enjoying your reports... from the happy times to the meltdowns :)

We loved discovery cove too... did you find them "high pressure" for selling photos? I felt like it was a time share presentation LOL
We were kept prisoners in sand dollar cabana until we caved in.

What did you have for lunch at DC? The fajitas are really good.

I am glad you had a day to yourself to relax and do something just for you. Mom's are pulled in so many directions and everyone depends on you... it's great that you escaped for a few hours.

>>^..^<<

Cassie, thanks so much for the warm encouragement. I expected the sales pitch so I wasn't too put off, especially when it comes to my $$ I have no problem saying NO! LOL

I had the fajitas too!! They were very good. I also loved that they had such a variety of choices to choose from.

Cassie, I am really glad I took that time to myself....I really felt that I deserved it for those exact reasons and because I put a lot of time and energy into planning a good trip for the family. Thanks so much!

Wonderful trip report ~ Thanx for sharing.
