I am sooooo looking forward to reading this TR in it's ENTIRETY! I better get some coffee cause it's gonna be a long night!!!

Should I pick up some for you? I'm donning my combat gear and body armor. Rumor has it a half gallon is going for $500 on the street.

I got my gallon on Saturday before stuff started coming out of the sky.

We use the outdoor fridge all the time!
Down here it does not work as well as it did up there. But in the summer I can always use the outdoor hot plate and fry eggs out on the deck.

Love those news reports--I love all the breathless cuts to reporters live in various neighborhoods saying, "Yup! It's snowing here too!"
They kept reminding us they had been out there since 4:30 am,before it all started and well by noon they were pretty tired and getting slap happy. :rotfl2:
How many times can I hear " Drivers really need to slow down when it snows."
and watch them pick up snow to show us. I mean can't we just go outside and pick up our own snow?

Thought some of you might be interested in seeing a few pictures from last night's ball. The theme was a post-Christmas Ball, and most were not in Regency Period costuming, but rather just formalwear. As usua,l we had a marvelous time dancing the night away to English Country Dancing numbers- my feet are still aching!!

Looks like fun. Seems like you were at one not too long ago, correct?

12thNightBallPix.jpg

This young lady is quite lovely. ;)

This guys outfit reminds me of Harry Potter, when Ron Weasley had to wear the really old hand-me-down formal robes to the ball.

I like the beer and coffee. At least with the beer you can always put it in the "outdoor fridge" on the porch. :rotfl2:
:thumbsup2

Don't you hate going to the store for milk when a storm is coming and apologizing that you really need the milk. :lmao:
I feel like bringing the empty container with me and saying 'See, I really need it!' :lmao:

They do the same shtick here... It's like come on people we live in New England and it's not like we have never seen snow before. :sad2::sad2:

Aaaaargh! Hilarious! I (knock on wood) have never had that happen, but I've seen it, and been the one to notify the ... exposed.. that they needed some adjustment. Makes me glad pantyhose wearage has sort of fallen by the way side!

Glad to hear it! Love the pictures. Now who put on this ball? Looks like so much fun!

Enjoy the woodstove. As soon as Scott is home, I'll have him put on a fire. Its already snowing here, we are supposed to get 3 - 6 inches, so I'm sure the kids will be home tomorrow. Already been to the store to stock up on milk, bread, eggs, beer, coffee, toilet paper, tylenol.... what else did you say?

I hope that NEVER happens again. But then again, I said that the first time too. Ok. I'm having a really hard time even typing this... I've had a couple glasses of wine, and I'[m trying to watch my team be behind by 7 points.... :scared1:

Now, let's see...

The Ball... we go on Thursdays when we can to English country Dancing lessons-, but every 2 months they host a formal ball- each with a different theme, but the same style of dancing. English Country Dancing- think Pride and Prejudice or Sense and Sensibility. We really like it, and it's something we all really enjoy. I mean who doesn't like to play dress up??

List:

Wood
Tylenol
Wine/beer
English muffins
Bacon
Cheese
Milk
Eggs

That oughta do it... except the most important one of all-----TP.

Ahhh yes, the outdoor fridge. In Crapistan, we used to hang our meat outside and keep it frozen like that. Worked really well, actually!

I love the pictures from the ball, it looks like so much fun! I am a bit strange for my generation but I far prefer that old English style of dancing compared to how we "dance" today. I'm sorry, but grinding on a dance floor does not equal dancing. JMHO.

There's only one way to find out!

Should I pick up some for you? I'm donning my combat gear and body armor. Rumor has it a half gallon is going for $500 on the street.

Ok, let's do it.

Oh, I AM! :lmao: (but it's garden burgers and wine)

That's actually quite cheap. Here it's going for one young son and 3 chickens.

I am sooooo looking forward to reading this TR in it's ENTIRETY! I better get some coffee cause it's gonna be a long night!!!

And I cant' wait to get to it, but it's going to be a long time in coming. I've run into a small life item called moving. :scared1:

Lattes is best.

How many times can I hear " Drivers really need to slow down when it snows."

As many times as the general public will tune in for. You aren't tuning in are you??:rolleyes1

Yes, we try to get to them every other month- every one is "themed" differently, but the style of dancing is the same. (ECD with a small mix of waltz or swing thrown in during intermissions.) We really love them- especially the costuming.

Yes, she IS!!! She is also taking Ballroom dancing this semester, and I got to observe the class today. We practiced the foxtrot, and it is NOT as easy as it looks!!!

Never have seen any of the HPs except #1. :confused3

They do the same shtick here... It's like come on people we live in New England and it's not like we have never seen snow before. :sad2::sad2:

Well, in Portland/Salem, we really do RARELY see frozen stuff, so everyone really freaks out- and they cancel school at just the thread. It's pathetic!

You are NOT strange! It's actually seeing quite a resurgende of popularity these3 days, and our ball was sold out very early at 170 people Had they let everyone come who wanted to, it would have easily reach 250!!

It is very elegant with the young men bowing to ask the lady to dance, curtseys, etc.....

Well, the Ducks gave it a good ol' try, but sadly went down in flames! I guess Camille gets the victory in this one. :goodvibes

Wow, I can't believe how many pages I had to go back to get caught up on your thread Liesa! I missed a whole lot of fun around here I see! I think I just spent the last hour and a half catching up!

Definitely a pretty good effort! I was so traumatized I'm not sure I can go back over there to do my TR now.....
I'm not sure I would want to see Rosie trying to top that one! :rotfl2:
Okay, now I'm all caught up and ready to jump back into the fray! As for the shirt story Liesa, I would have just yanked mine off too so you wouldn't feel self conscious......but then you might have been the one who was speechless!!! At least we know now if you have to go through the TSA extra search procedures, you already have the necessary skills! Once you got the feet comments at the gate, I guess you have to push that envelope now....;)
Terrible story Tim! So glad Princess Ana got through it and is doing better.
Only your comments will ever be considered pointless Rosie!!! :rotfl:
And so the story of how Rosie's pole dancing started is clearly revealed to the world!!!!

:lmao::lmao::lmao::

We thought she was doing better but she just woke up with a 102.4 fever. UGH.

Breathe in breathe out.... ok feel better?

I hope your move goes smoothly. :goodvibes

She was at the doctors 2 times last week. We will wait to see what is going on in the a.m. If she goes tomorrow, I know bloodwork will be involved. They don't take any chances with her.

Sounds lovely! Hope you have time to take that break! :cloud9:

We called the doctor this morning and they told us that Juliana could have a fever for a few more days. If Wednesday rolls around and she still has a fever then we have to call. Hopefully she won't because the weather men are expecting 10-24'' of snow starting tomorrow night.

I hope Juliana is feeling better tomorrow and the fever is down. I'll be praying for her.

Whenever snow is imminent here in the East, everyone always rushes out to the grocery store for milk, bread and eggs. Apparently, we have a belief that you absolutely cannot survive a snowstorm without french toast. :confused3

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

OMG, that's funny!! If you're here in the Pacific Northwest, we immediately stock up on beer and coffee- and we are 100% one cannot survive without either of those. :lmao:

:thumbsup2

You are right, I do not like beer, BUT how 'bout this: use the beer to make the English muffins, drink the coffee and make the McMuffins , and wash it all down with some nice Willamette Valley Pinot Noir?? I could walk a mile uphill both ways and get all of that I wanted.

I served Oregon Spruce Goose Pinot Noir tonight. Very nice:thumbsup2

Poor baby! Sorry about your rough morning, Tim!

Oh, thats good stuff! :rotfl2:

Sounds like we're all coming to your house to wait out the storm!party:

The ball looks very intreresting! Glad you had fun! I don't know how you did all that on top of moving! :worship:

Yes, the list is complete, except if I'm stranded, I really need chocolate - preferably plain M&Ms. That's an oxymoron. How can M&M's be plain??? They are chocolate and pretty colors. What's plain about that?

Oh! What?
Oh - how did you keep the animals away from your meat?

I love the pictures from the ball, it looks like so much fun! I am a bit strange for my generation but I far prefer that old English style of dancing compared to how we "dance" today. I'm sorry, but grinding on a dance floor does not equal dancing. JMHO.

So True, I don't think that would be my favorite music, but the dancing definitely takes more skill than the "popular dances"

Well, the Ducks gave it a good ol' try, but sadly went down in flames! I guess Camille gets the victory in this one. :goodvibes

Hey! Tie game at 2 seconds, 3 point FG at 1 second - not bad! Did you see flames? How much wine did you have? :rotfl2: It was disappointing for sure.

Finally!!! All caught up even with the chatter. :woohoo: When I had last really read you were still in Germany, so wooo I was a bit behind.

I had to cancel DD#2's birthday trip last fall due to work and that really bummed me out, but reading your TR makes me excited to plan another trip. My oldest DD and some of her friends want to go the week before Christmas this year and my DH thinks that I should take my mom for her birthday in September. If I could get two trips in maybe it will make up for my disappointment of cancelling. :rotfl:

Aaannnny waaaays I just wanted to say:
The guy at the airport - total freak, back away from the toes, boy!
Getting locked out - one of my biggest fears!
Stripping of the shirt - :rotfl: :rotfl: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: that's one way to get to know somebody quickly!

I'm sure there was more that I wanted to comment on but I can't remember what it is right now. (Maybe because it's going on 2 or I just have a bad memory. :rotfl:)

As many times as the general public will tune in for. You aren't tuning in are you??:rolleyes1

Better than Springer and "Who's your daddy?" :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

The news basically took over the daytime programming. Even they are slap happy from cooped up at the station. So the longer it goes on the more entertaining it gets.
They just did a segment on snow cream and were hysterical at not using the yellow snow. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

It is it's own reality show. :rotfl2:

Jumping on the bandwagon here for the list of storm supplies.

I remember my first winter here in PA. it was the blizzard of 96. I went out to grab a few neccessary things for the storm, chocolate, Pepsi, pringles. But I couldn't find a single loaf of bread, or a gallon of milk to save my life. So I got hamburger buns and chocolate milk instead. But the thing I found most shocking was the amount of toilet paper people were buying.

So today were are supposed to get 1-5 inches of snow, that's nothing, but sure enough I stop at the store yesterday for nacho cheese, and wouldn't ya know it, there is no bread or milk and the TP aisle is pretty empty too. I can understand sort of, the stocking up for a long storm, but 1-5 inches? How much poopin are they palnning on doing?

That probably depends on how much nacho cheese they ate.

You all never fail to make me smile- every day I get a good chuckle here. In the midst of packing and cleaning out our temp. house, I just want to say how much I appreciate it!!

Hopefully, I will be able to sit for a spell and get an update on here tonight. We shall see.....

Snow is expected to start anytime, so sitting by a cozy fire DISing away seems like a great way to spend the evening. ( I can safely say that the amount of snow will make absolutely no difference here. Although extra TP is always in order. )

Around here, water is they mainstay. Our pipes tend to explode when it starts freezing.
GB, what are you guys using for pipes........the tubes from the middle of the paper towels and TP?
I like the beer and coffee. At least with the beer you can always put it in the "outdoor fridge" on the porch. :rotfl2:

News all day here - let's go to the grocery story to see the bare shelves where milk should be. No Joke :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Don't you hate going to the store for milk when a storm is coming and apologizing that you really need the milk. :lmao:
I had to pick up milk twice since Sunday, and both times it was because we were out! A bi-product of having teenage boys!

Beth, is that you??? :confused3

:

:snooty: I think I was traumatized by modern dancing in Italy when I was 16. We went to a club one night and my friend was dancing with this Italian guy and he thought it was appropriate to grab her crotch while dancing. :scared1:

I would love to go to balls like in all the Jane Austen books/movies.
