GET OUT!!! Are you serious?! You are going to LOVE it!!!! We played MANY games over the holiday weekend.:banana:

Would I kid about something like that?

I also reserved a copy of Epic Mickey, so it'll be interesting to see which game gets played first. (Probably Epic Mickey, then we'll move onto Settlers by evening time.)

Hooray for your arrival into the U.S. but ugh for another illness with your party of travelers. not cool. (in the words of Sunny Monroe, lol- my kids love Sunny with a Chance)
And 3 days until your Disney trip.:banana:

Looking forward to reading morepopcorn::

A very belated Happy Thanksgiving. I stayed off the boards starting on Wednesday. Sounds like you had a wonderful first Thanksgiving home.

Wow what another roller coaster ride. Poor Mikki. I don't know how you survived returning to the US. I truly wish your return would have bee more happy and not so ralphing.

For a late night eat, Taco Bell does do the trick. Hope your next meal was closed to that perfect meal.

You made it!!! Poor Mikki is right  Yay for Grandparents with the goods!! Taco Bell, really :scared1: Yay for beds and sleep.

I saw Harry Potter on Friday with my sister and our cousins (who are also our godchildren) and we all thought it was a lot of fun. But much better if you know the book!

Oh yes - it would be difficult to follow if you hadn't read the books I would think.

WE FINALLY BOUGHT A CAR!!!!!

Very cool! Looks like a sweet ride - and no payments? That's the only way to go:thumbsup2

He cut off his finger, then drove?? :scared1: NOWAY!!! Maybe he should have had his head examined at the same time. When my son cut his thumb off, I had to get a friend to drive us- I was a total basket case!!

No, no. Almost cut off his finger. He also almost cut off his arm a different time. And yes, he does need his head examined!

And headed off through the countryside amazed at how lovely it was:

Wow, is that real?! It looks like the little train village at Epcot's Germany!

Here's a photo I found on the web this is our local McD's. Typical of what you would see here in the US.

That's pretty cool - very retro. Not at all what the Mickey D's look like in here in St.Louis.

Liesa, glad to hear you had a lovely Thanksgiving. It must have been vastly different than the last ten!

I will echo the "Poor Mikki".

What a way to make an entrance back to the US. :sad2:

As for Taco Bell as your first meal. Well, as long as you kept it down it ...

It could have been a better re-entry. But we are all better now, and that's what's important.

Hahaha!! I'm just glad it didn't cause a gag reflex in Mikki! :rotfl:

Would I kid about something like that?

I also reserved a copy of Epic Mickey, so it'll be interesting to see which game gets played first. (Probably Epic Mickey, then we'll move onto Settlers by evening time.)

Epic Mickey?? What's that?? I'll have to google that one. Beware, Settlers can take a few hours- esp. the first few times. Setting it up can take a while!

Hooray for your arrival into the U.S. but ugh for another illness with your party of travelers. not cool. (in the words of Sunny Monroe, lol- my kids love Sunny with a Chance)

Getting closer!! Whoopee!!! Hopefully, I'll have another update coming up soon!

A very belated Happy Thanksgiving. I stayed off the boards starting on Wednesday. Sounds like you had a wonderful first Thanksgiving home.

I did too, Vanessa!! It was actually a really nice break, and that we got to see family that we rarely see was a nice bonus!

I know- it would have been nice to have had a smoother bit of travel, but well, sure made for great storytelling!

Hmmmm..... next meal was mom's lasagne! YUM!!

Hi, Liesa. Hope you and the family had a great Thanksgiving.

Thanks, Kathy. Getting to other threads will have to wait until tomorrow- getting this update up took up all my computer time for the day.

You made it!!! Poor Mikki is right  Yay for Grandparents with the goods!! Taco Bell, really :scared1: Yay for beds and sleep.

My parent's come through every time! They were our #1 supporters , and we could always count on them for holiday goodie boxes. :yay:

Beds never felt so good!!

Very cool! Looks like a sweet ride - and no payments? That's the only way to go:thumbsup2

No payments is the very best part!! I love being debt free!

No, no. Almost cut off his finger. He also almost cut off his arm a different time. And yes, he does need his head examined!

or lessons on how to use a combine- j/k how did he do those horrible things??

Wow, is that real?! It looks like the little train village at Epcot's Germany!

The word quaint comes to mind. It was just so picturesque!!

That's pretty cool - very retro. Not at all what the Mickey D's look like in here in St.Louis.

I remember one that looked just like that in California near Riverside while growing up. So cute!
Liesa, glad to hear you had a lovely Thanksgiving. It must have been vastly different than the last ten!

Yes, VASTLY. But actually I really misssed the more spiritual side of the Thanksgivings we had in Kaz. where we were truly so very thankful for many things.

So when my ex arrived home I told him , he said WHY didn't you let the bird out ??:confused3:sad2:Yea Right .. so he did and what followed should have made Funniest home videos IF we had taped it !! The Bird flew out and the cat FLEW around the cellar after it !!! There were feathers and debri all over the cellar as the cat, the bird and the EX careered around the cellar:rotfl2:Of course I couldn't resist saying "And you thought I should let the bird out ??:rotfl2:
I think there is a joke like this. The next line is....."I don't remember anything after that....":rotfl:
The food was delicious, but the highlight for me was when they explained that the holiday is about being thankful and said what they were thankful for. I think it is a great opportunity to look back and realize that besides every days problems there is something to be thankful for! We don't have any official occassion for that...
This sounds right up your alley. I'm expecting a Judicial ruling soon that institutes the very first Thanksgiving holiday, originating in Nuremburg!
And today was one of those days. For a while.
Now THERE is something you never want to finish a statement with....
Being subjected to a “pat down” that should have been preceded by a candlelight meal out
Sounds like the voice of experience......:rolleyes1
I have no pictures of the next 24 hours. Not even one.
WHAT??? No PICTURES???? (and for that we are eternally grateful.....)
So I decided just about the time that Alice met Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum to turn it off and sleep
Cool! I didn't realize Glenn and Dan were in that movie. I guess I will have to go buy it and watch it now...... ;)
Poor Mikki. Poor, poor Mikki! She was just reliving this horrible experience over the holiday with our extended family, recalling that this was the most awful experience she has literally EVER had in her whole life. Wave after wave of nausea attacked her, and once again the bags, that are normally filled with old gum and squashed down by the empty pop cans and inflight magazines where they are paid little attention to- until you need one, were reached for and filled.
Well, you just knew it was coming at some point....... How terrible for Mikki!
They were waiting just past the Kingdom of the DHS
About the only similarities I can think of between THIS DHS and the one at the Magical Kingdom is sitting through the Drew Carey show maybe.....:confused3
And thus ends, the longest, toughest road to America that ever was.
Well, except for maybe that one the Pilgrims endured...... (Thanksgiving reference completely intended!) :)
Hey Marv!! By now, you are hopefully enjoying family and friends, around pecan pie! THE best kind there is! I hear a rumor that my DBIL has made pecan, apple and spiced blueberry!! :banana:YUM!!!

My camera is charged and ready, and I hope in my "Liesa Time" I can take some photos on a walk! THere's supposed to be a boatload of snow up there! :woohoo:
Oh yes, pecan pie for sure! Was the apple and spiced blueberry IN the pecan pie, or were those three different pies???

BTW, you do realize if you take a "boatload" of snow, and spread it over the countryside, you don't have a whole lot........well, unless maybe it was one of those container ships. :rotfl2:
I won't be back on until Monday as we have LOTS going on this weekend, including my 2 youngest getting baptized on Sunday!
:thumbsup2 Something to indeed be thankful for!!!

Hi Leisa,
First off WELCOME HOME TO THE GOOD OLE US of A!

Poor Mikki! Was it just the stomach flu? Poor girl :guilty: I feel so bad for her. Thank goodness for your parents and the over abundance of supplies!

Being subjected to a “pat down” that should have been preceded by a candlelight meal out, we made our merry way to the gate and waited.

And this was before the new tighter regulations, right? What happens when they start doing proctological exams?

it is now time to have……………………………….. a ralphing relapse.

Poor Mikki. Poor, poor Mikki! She was just reliving this horrible experience over the holiday with our extended family, recalling that this was the most awful experience she has literally EVER had in her whole life.

Ding! Wanna get away?

Man, that's awful. The poor kid!

The last hour driving home went by smoothly. First meal on American soil? None other than Taco Bell, of course! Hard shelled, mystery ground beef stuffed, sulfite-infused lettucy goodness.

Welcome home! Ok, this might be a bit late now, but just imagine I was saying this at the time, and it'll go over better.

Taco Bell? Man, that's a risky play with Mikki's condition. That could have started moving things at the other end!

I confess, I took a mini-sabbatical from the Boards for a few days. I'll be over very soon!!
its okay i didnt log on all holiday weekend either.

i will keep a watchful eye on the horizon for you.
:sail:

I also reserved a copy of Epic Mickey, so it'll be interesting to see which game gets played first. (Probably Epic Mickey, then we'll move onto Settlers by evening time.)
i wasnt sold on that game on the previews, excited to see what you think of it.

im hoping me and parker get the toy story mania game, i think he would enjoy playing that one with me alot.

he likes to drive the mario kart racing with me.

oh yeah, mmmmmmm taco bell, good stop for the first meal, i get there about once every 2 years, so it would be like my first meal returning to the county if i get there again....we just dont eat out fast food that much, so they taste good when we do get back to one.

I finally caught up as you finally made it to this side of the ocean! :thumbsup2 Poor Mikki being so miserable - I used to get like that often when I was younger, but what helpful grandparents to be so prepared for your arrival.

I love Taco Bell. I seriously crave it more than anything else when I am pregnant. Mmmm, Nachos Bell Grande. (Insert picture of Homer Simpson drooling here)

Awww, not again! I'm sorry that Mikki had to suffer, but glad it wasn't the whole clan again.

You know, I bet that Taco Bell would've tasted SOOO much better with a little free booze in your stomach. Taco Bell=Drunk Food!!:lmao:

Now THERE is something you never want to finish a statement with....

I should have thought that one through a little bit more, for sure.

Sounds like the voice of experience......:rolleyes1

He's still obligated to a date night out once a week, even after 22 years of wedded bliss.

WHAT??? No PICTURES???? (and for that we are eternally grateful.....)

Yeah, for once, this is an installment that is probably best left to words only.

Cool! I didn't realize Glenn and Dan were in that movie. I guess I will have to go buy it and watch it now...... ;)

:lmao::lmao::lmao: They bear absolutely NO resemblance. At least at first glance.

Well, you just knew it was coming at some point....... How terrible for Mikki!

Yes, it seemed inevitable. But, really, that was the LAST of such misfortune. I was telling Mikki about my post last night, and we got to talking about other horrible, most wretched experiences, and she conceded that it was now a toss up between this and driving an hour to the hospital after she got run over by a car in Istanbul. Her foot was smashed (but miraculously nothing broken) , and she was in great pain. Talk about a way to get up close and personal to the real people!!

About the only similarities I can think of between THIS DHS and the one at the Magical Kingdom is sitting through the Drew Carey show maybe.....:confused3

I'm not sure what I'd prefer to be tortured with? :confused3

Well, except for maybe that one the Pilgrims endured...... (Thanksgiving reference completely intended!) :)

Can you IMAGINE how badly that Mayflower must have stunk??? I wonder if they named it after a pretty flower to distract them from the stench of throw up and urine?

Oh yes, pecan pie for sure! Was the apple and spiced blueberry IN the pecan pie, or were those three different pies???

Pecan rules. And sadly there was none there this year. But I have to say, the spiced blueberry rocked!!! :cloud9:

BTW, you do realize if you take a "boatload" of snow, and spread it over the countryside, you don't have a whole lot........well, unless maybe it was one of those container ships. :rotfl2:

True- so this must have been like enough to fill a DHS pat down procedures book.

:thumbsup2 Something to indeed be thankful for!!!

I cried. As I do at every baptism I see.

Hi Leisa,
First off WELCOME HOME TO THE GOOD OLE US of A!

Poor Mikki! Was it just the stomach flu? Poor girl :guilty: I feel so bad for her. Thank goodness for your parents and the over abundance of supplies!

WENDY!! Great to see you! How was your holiday?

Thanks for your warm welcome!

We think back and can only say it must have been some sort of viral thing that swept through most of us-sparing only me. It had started with Anara a couple weeks before this.

And this was before the new tighter regulations, right? What happens when they start doing proctological exams?

I imagine then, that the "Don't touch my junk!" movement will really take on a different meaning.

Welcome home! Ok, this might be a bit late now, but just imagine I was saying this at the time, and it'll go over better.

It did. My imagine can be quite active. Thanks, that was so sweet of you, Mark.

Taco Bell? Man, that's a risky play with Mikki's condition. That could have started moving things at the other end!

She waited until we got to Mom and Dad's and had a dry bagel. Smart girl. ;)

its okay i didnt log on all holiday weekend either.

i will keep a watchful eye on the horizon for you.
:sail:

Alrighty, I'll be over in the next hour.

oh yeah, mmmmmmm taco bell, good stop for the first meal, i get there about once every 2 years, so it would be like my first meal returning to the county if i get there again....we just dont eat out fast food that much, so they taste good when we do get back to one.

Funny, I get there about every 2 days. Well, not really, but surely about once every 2 weeks. So cheap- and it's pretty hard to mess up a tortilla and beans.

Poor creature is sick again with a head/ear/ throat cold the last few days. too much sledding, I guess. :confused3

I ate so much Taco Bell during my pregnancy with my first, I swear he was gonna pop out and say, "Hola, Mamasita!". He learned how to drink from a straw there too, since my craving didn't go away after he was born.

Awww, not again! I'm sorry that Mikki had to suffer, but glad it wasn't the whole clan again.

You know, I bet that Taco Bell would've tasted SOOO much better with a little free booze in your stomach. Taco Bell=Drunk Food!!:lmao:

OH Gosh!! Me too!!! It was tough enough with only one of us!!

OH, don't you know it!!!! But there will be plenty of that coming up in the next installments.

Hi Leisa,
Our Thanksgiving was nice. Thanks for asking sounds like yours was nice as well.

Why is it that us moms never get the crud our kids get? :confused3 I rarely get sick but the rest of my crew when they get sick, they get SICK! :sad2:

It was nice!!! Lots of relatives we don't see often, and just as many newcomers who were friends of those said family. I hope we didn't scare them off completely when we (gasp!) prayed over our meal. Portland has, as you probably know, a pretty unchurched/liberal population. And a few terrorists apparently as well. We went for coffee with our best friends on Sunday night, and it turns out that their daughters (good friends of our own kids) KNEW the "Tannen-bomber". !!!! :scared1::scared1::scared1:

Mom's never get sick , because they are never allowed a day off- for any reason.

Hoping your Thanksgiving was extra special this year!:wizard: I came home for the holidays - ate at Taco Bell three times the first week - :rotfl: - I totally get that it would be your first meal on American soil. :goodvibes

I completely feel for Mikki. How very, very awful in the best of conditions but when you are traveling especially? Poor child. :(
