Since I am not very competitive (:rotfl:) I actually research these letters... Some are easier than others and sometimes I get Liesa's clue, sometimes I don't. Q is actually not so difficult, there aren't many things at WDW which have a Q in its name... Google pictures search is your friend in this game (well, it wasn't for the Mad Tea Party...). :goodvibes

I saw Harry Potter on Friday with my sister and our cousins (who are also our godchildren) and we all thought it was a lot of fun. But much better if you know the book!

Hi Magdalene,

Did you like the Harry Potter movie? Did you go to the American restaurant at all? Sounds like a fun weekend! :goodvibes

Q.... uietly now!!! But quick, quick, quick!!!! This quirky game is moving along, and now it's time to guess where letter Q comes from.... Somewhere in the World you'll find this:

I can't seem to keep control of my inbox these days, so please go ahead and white out your answers here on the thread.

Good luck!
Wow, that one was tricky too! Based on the sterile white I had it down to two choices and finally found a picture for one of them that I think is correct, so I will go with it.

My guess is Cirque de Soleil. My other choice was the Liberty Square Riverboat, but I can't find any pictures of the sign for that one, only the Riverboat cruising in the water........

My guess is

I just looked at your guess (since mine has been up for a while) and wanted to comment: I spent ages looking for a sign for the riverboat and had the same problem. But then I realized that its sign appears to be over the entrance to the landing where it says: Riverboat Landing. But it took me a long time to actually get Liesa's clue about "World" meaning that it was not located in the parks and started to look for other Qs...

I never could find a photo with a view of that sign, so I couldn't confirm exactly what it said. I did rule out Disney Quest right off, since there was a piece of a letter right next to the Q, and did finally find signs for that one and POFQ that had the wrong script. Seems like there were some others I can't remember now. I never did get a really good sign for my guess, but from an angle it looked correct so I went with it. Figured I was running out of time to get a guess in.

I'm with you Magdalene and Marv -- this one took me longer than I thought it should, considering the limited possibilities of a name with "Q" in it.

WE FINALLY BOUGHT A CAR!!!!!

More later after I get some pictures of it!!! It's just one of those pee your pants moments here in the life of a DISer!!!

:woohoo::cool1::woohoo::cool1::woohoo:

Congratulations!

Pictures....we must have pictures.

And if you're out toolin' around, feel free to swing by and take me to Disney.

For the price of a trip to Disney, YOU too can have a fabulous new set of wheels. :car:

Ours is not red like that one, but it is pretty cool with it's 6, count them, 6 cylinders! Leather interior makes for a comfy ride on my posterior, and the sweet sound system gives me the ability to really embarrass my kids as I cruise down the freeway conducting the Boston Symphony air band style. Yes, I really do that.

It's fully loaded with power everything, but sadly lacks the the rear cup holder. The seller broke it right in front of us while he was showing us how nifty it was. :sad2: Tis okay, he came down about $500 from what he was advertising- I'm pretty sure we can get a new cup holder for under $500.

It's definitely NOT a brand new Mercedes, not the Lamborghini I really wanted, but hey, it also means no loans, cheap parts, do it yourself labor on most easy to do fix-its, American jobs were supported, AND 5 seatbelts. Remember that test on Test Track for the anti-lock brakes?? Yep, it's got those too for smooth stopping- those might come in handy for our teenage driver. :lmao: Hopefully, the dual airbags won't be necessary, but it's good to know we have 'em.

Some of you may be wondering just WHEN I"m going to just get on with the Disney stuff. I assure you- it IS coming... I promise!! Hang in there with me; you WILL be rewarded! I imagine with the holidays coming up, the Boards will be a bit slower, but I imagine in the next couple of weeks, the Disney stuff will debut in all its glory. Meantime, I'm having myself a pretty magical day.

I'm with you Magdalene and Marv -- this one took me longer than I thought it should, considering the limited possibilities of a name with "Q" in it.

Considering that we aren't competitive, we still take this pretty serious! :lmao:

Actually, I think it is a very entertaining scavenger hunt through the Disney websites! :thumbsup2

Looks like a nice car! I am glad you finally found one and now you can use your time for nicer things - like preparing your gigantic feast for the holidays! :goodvibes

yes you do. We are full of our own Turkey attendee drama here so I can totally relate.

Outstanding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I live in fear for the day Evan has to, or wants to, break a brick.

UGH! Board breaking is fun though, I love the mystery break he has to do at black belt testing, it's seriously cool. There is a video on my FB page of his first BB test if you haven't seen it, that is kind of fun to watch.

Well, Dad had definitely decided NOT to come up to the mountain; he just really doesn't want to that far away from a "real" hospital. Ah well, we've decided to go up for Wed. Thurs. nights, and then go down to Salem for the rest of the weekend along with SIL and her family! :scared1: I wonder if he knew when he made the decision not to go that he'd end up with company of 12 for 3 nights!!??:scared1: DSIL and I talked on the phone today, and we'll each take a dinner to make, and the grocery store isn't too far...

A BRICK!!? I guess if they've been taught well, they shouldn't have a problem with it. RIght? I'll check out your FB page; I'm sure Mik will want to see it.

I can't believe you all are talking about this!
I've literally been humming the song the Who's sing down in Whoville almost all day. How strange is that?!? :rotfl:

I could always suggest a new song to drive you crazy. Seen any dancing dolls lately from a boat??

Morning Liesa !!! Usual Sunday morning around here !!Kyle is up with the Birds and I am half asleep cuz I stayed up til 2 am !!!:scared1:Have to go get the papers and check out the sales !!Shop and go to work !!!

Since we started going to evening service at church, Sunday mornings are MUCH less chaotic and crazy. I love that!

The topic of discussion around the pool was would it be safe for everyone else if it went off while he was in the pool?:scared1:

They gentleman who had a defib device inplanted said his went off while he was carrying suicases up the stairs at his daughter's house. He was mid stair and the device fired. Pretty much knocked him off his feet but just to a sittting position. That was his cue to slowdown. Some cue. :lmao:

Sounds like when our friends visited from Senegal. We wondered it would be ok to sleep in the same tent, given that they had had active malaria recently. :lmao:

Dad still hasn't gotten in to see the cardiologist. I think he needs to stage a sit in over there. :confused3

Hey Liesa Congrats on the car.

Your Dis meet with Magdelena and Katherina looks like a lot of fun, and food looks so good. I think you must have good food mojo or something because most all the food you've shown us looks delicious.

Love your souvenirs, especially the tin ornaments!! :goodvibes They are one of those old fashioned toys which made Nuremberg so famous for its toy production (therefore the toy museum) - Nuremberg still hosts the world's largest trade fair specialising in toys in February every year!

Actually it was your mom's collection that gave me the idea in the first place. :thumbsup2 I adored her set on that shelf by the table and I remember asking about them. THey have a HUGE collection of them in the Toy Museum, and I admired them there too.

Did anyone ever suggest to you that you should work in your tourism industry?? Just sayin'... :rolleyes1

And tin figurines are very important in my family as well. My mother's father was a church conservator (he would restore old paintings and such) and his great hobby was to hand paint these tin figurines. I think you might have seen quite a few on display at my parents' house? He had a deal with one of the producers in Nuremberg where he would get two sets, both unpainted, one of which he could keep and the other one he would give back painted. He had a large collection and everyone in the family got some of his collection! :goodvibes My parents have some ornaments very much like yours which he painted himself. :thumbsup2

I saw several church conservators working in BOTH churches while there. They were working on paining things up on scaffolding and I was quite intrigued. I was too shy to ask about their work, not being sure if they could talk to the public or not. But I was curious.

That's so cool that he could keep a set to build up his collection! What a cool job! :cool2:

As someone already said, the word means foot!

And you are right, it is not a B, the letter is this sign: ß and it is a type of S. The letter is used to show that this is an unvoiced S - in case anyone would be crazy enough to want to find out more about this special letter, Wikipedia will be your friend. :goodvibes

But I rather thought it was very funny, what some people on this thread made out of it! :lmao:

That's a sound I think I'd have to practice- a lot! Unvoiced "S" doesn't seem easy to do, at least for me. :confused3

This thread definitely has some nutty folks on here- I love the funny stuff they come up with quite regularly! I mean where else can you find everything from unshaven (albeit imaginary) hairy feet to confused Potato Heads?

And I want to put in a guess:

OK, got it.

That "Q" is from

As well as yours.

All the talk of the tin toys reminds me on the old Christmas show "Santa Claus is Coming to Town". The Claus' were the first toy makers to the king and the show had a German town feel to it.

Of course at this time of the year everything reminds me of some Christmas show.

I think when I think of Christmas, at least for the majority of traditions we play out, Germany comes to mind. Carved wood, gingerbread, yule logs, all that.... especially the mulled wine.

Wow! What a cool story. Her pictures are really good. Is this a friend of yours?

Well, we had family birthdays and dentist appointments this week, too. Luckily no heart ailments though. Although that does remind me of when my dad had his heart attack. He drove. Won't let my mom behind the wheel. He also nearly cut his finger off in a boating accident, and insisted on driving the 45 minutes from the lake to the hospital that time, too. Of course, it was on his left hand, so no big deal:sad2:

I (again) do not have a guess for the letter game. I'm so lame at this. Are the rest of you just really smart, or do you hunting for this stuff?

Anybody else see Harry Potter this weekend?

More an acquaintance than friend. She lives in Almaty, we lived WAYYYYYYYYY west of the capital. But her photography is AMAZING!!! Her family did a 6 week hike through the Alps this summer and she did a daily photo blog that was simply stunning!! You should check it out!!

He cut off his finger, then drove?? :scared1: NOWAY!!! Maybe he should have had his head examined at the same time. When my son cut his thumb off, I had to get a friend to drive us- I was a total basket case!!

If my research in the moldy library basement hasn't failed me, Q is from

Good luck! Make sure you look under the hood to make sure the hamster is alive and well-fed.

OK, got your guess! THanks!

OMGosh!!! YOU ARE NOT going to believe this:

Mike gets under the hood today checking fluids and for oil leaks, etc, etc.... and get this...

wait for it...

He finds bird SEED!!! :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

Apparently, this guy kept the car in the garage almost all the time, and we all concluded that probably mice (or hamsters :rotfl2:)had gotten up there under the hood and made a little stash in there. I was laughing my hiney off (wouldn't that be really, really cool if one could actually DO that?!) when I read you post, and totally thought of it when Mike showed me the bird seed!! :rotfl2:

Wow this thread moves fast! I want to comment on you souvies! I loved them all! I wish we would have bought ornaments!

Sometimes even too fast for me to keep up with!! And as I just posted: I know some people are wondering if we'll EVER get to the Disney stuff!! I promise we will, but my journey was a long, convuluted one with some much adventure and drama, the story has just got to be told. Disney is coming...

I have the exact same bag! I love it and everyone here at work loves it to! I bought a different one for my DD that is black. I wish I would have gotten more.

I love my bag; it's the perfect size for taking to the park with a lunch in it! ANd this winter, I hope to take it grocery shopping, so I can see it often!

Here are a few pictures with the Ampelman! I loved the store so cute and fun!

And here is a actual picture of the traffic light itself.

Thanks for all the fun photos of the icon!! Now people can put my souvies into context and know what we're talking about! :teacher:

My guess is

I"m so glad you are all enjoying the game. Just when you thought you knew it all, someone comes up with something you hadn't thought about at all re: Disney- I love that! That's why I totally love Jack's blog over on allears.

:car::car::car::car::car::car::car::car:
:drive::drive::drive::drive::drive::drive::drive:
:banana::banana::banana:

I guess that says it all!!

WOOT!! Thanks!

Considering that we aren't competitive, we still take this pretty serious! :lmao:

Actually, I think it is a very entertaining scavenger hunt through the Disney websites! :thumbsup2

It is a fun, fresh look at Disney. I never noticed the signs until this trip- and there's such a variety!!

Looks like a nice car! I am glad you finally found one and now you can use your time for nicer things - like preparing your gigantic feast for the holidays! :goodvibes

Thanks, again. FINALLY!! That was such a hard thing- and you know what I love aobut this one?? It looks nice- which was important to me, and it is a bit faster/beefier than the Ford Taurus- which was important to Mike. A good compromise, which is most important of all. :thumbsup2

Speaking of feasts... I need to get to the grocery store today for soem things for THanksgiving before this snowstorm hits. I guess within the next few hours, we'll be getting 1-3 inches of snow. :woohoo:

Congrats on the new wheels !!! :drive::car:

Thanks, Pat!!
Yeah for new comfortable wheels!

So where will your first road trip be to?

We'll be going to Mt. Hood on Wednesday for THanksgiving!! Fun stuff.

Hey Liesa Congrats on the car.

Thanks! I think it will take some getting used to over the minivan, but so far, so good!

Just wait til I get to the WDW stuff- we had some fabulous meals there!!
