My sign confirmed it, the clues plus " think like Liesa" is what got me there instead of EPCOT.:lmao:

They can put in a defibrillator. I hear it will just go off when needed. Sort of makes you stop in your tracks but it works. :thumbsup2

Reminds me of Pirates= "Think like Jack", "Think like the whelp".

As in "pacemaker"???

Great souvies from your trip
Seeing all the German things made me flip

I send out announcements to a Swim League in rhyme
when I have the time :)

Nicely executed!

How cool that you got Fub Lotion! ;)

Very nice souvies.

I like what I picked out. Nothing expensive or fancy, just Germany-y.

Hmmm, not a bad idea that! ;)
FUB? Is that like NEET for feet??? Foot Unhairing Balm maybe???? :rolleyes1

For ultra beautiful, more like it. ;) Did you notice the scent?? Points to those who catch the connection there!!

Oh my I love your souvies especially the Christmas Ornaments. I have a slight obsession with ornaments. I have way too many but I can't stop myself from buying more. I know I would have had to buy those too.

Weren't they just peachy??!!

What might not have been so clear was the Magdalene had put together a really nifty gift bag for us- the Berlin bag, the pins, the spice mix with recipe, and the lotion. I thought it was really well thought out, and fun!

The place I got the ornaments is coming up soon, in the LAST Germany installment. :yay: I love ornaments too, but am pretty picky about what I buy, so don't have so many. But I thought these were unique and the handpainting was a cool special touch!

I am really enjoying your report, I don't think I have posted before but it is great. The Disney Font game is really clever, I never have any idea what sign you are posting...

I also wanted to say that FuB is German for foot.:goodvibes

Q.... uietly now!!! But quick, quick, quick!!!! This quirky game is moving along, and now it's time to guess where letter Q comes from.... Somewhere in the World you'll find this:

I can't seem to keep control of my inbox these days, so please go ahead and white out your answers here on the thread.

Good luck!

:welcome:!!!! So glad to have you here!! I"m so glad also, that you are enjoying the report- we all have a bunch of fun here, and hope you 'll join us a lot!

You can play or not play, whatever you want to do!! I know some have been easier than others.

D&W, thanks for the translation. I hadn't gotten that far, but was rather amused at what the guys were coming up with. :rotfl2: Do you speak German?

Love the souvies. You had some good Suessian rhyme going on there, I'm impressed. :thumbsup2

I can speak a little, I took four years of it in high school and then another year in college, but since that was 20 years ago it is a little rusty. I am really enjoying your tours of Germany, glad to hear you have some more photos to post.

Pacemaker regulates the heart rate. Usually for those with heart rates too slow I think. Defib will actually provide a shock when it fibs.

I am going with Liberty Square sign in MK

Seuss is THE Man!! I think I'm going to splurge in the Grinch this year. Favorite childhood cartoon EVER!

I took a couple years of French, but can only remember sacre bleu! :sad2: And pamplemousse, which I think MIGHT be grapefruit or something else as entirely useless. Unless you're in deep need of a tangy breakfast. In France. :lmao: I only have a few more- in fact, I really hope to get the last post up today sometime, and leave Germany behind for other fun and exciting things.

I am going with

OK, I got your guess, but deleted it from my reply so in case others besides Tammy or Cynthia are having issues with seeing guesses they can play too.

I will be curious to hear what the cardiologist says after he gets seen. :guilty:

NO, and to be honest, this may be the start of a decline. :confused3 I really think he needs a pacemaker- we talked to him this morning, and he is telling us it has been doign this a while. :scared1:

Oh no, that's not good at all. We found out some stuff along those lines (not pacemaker, but going on for awhile stuff) about Jeff's dad on our PS trip last weekend that freaked us out a little. I leaned, not all that gently, on them to get up here to see the kids (it's been over a year) and what do you know, they are coming up for new years!

Chatter is fun, but so hard to keep up with all the time!

It is, I'm sad the chatter had died off on my thread, I need to nurture it over there!

Their teeth are healing up nicely, but are still opting for the softer foods I offer. Another few days should do the trick!
oh good!

I can totally see why a toy store would be open EVERY before Christmas ! BIG business time for them. It's just odd that I said I COULD work Sundays, just not a full day. :confused3

Unfortunately that probably was a rather big deal, employers don't want to have to factor in your life and schedule needs at all and retail hours can be rather icky. I can only imagine just the restocking needs those places have over the holidays!

THey are sooooooooooooo nervous about their belt tests! I"m sure they will do fine, and pass with no problems, but it's all they can think about right now. Was Evan always this nervous?? (It IS Evan, right?)

How did it go?

He's been all over the board with his tests over the years (and yes, it IS Evan ) some very nonchalant, others with major stress. I'm pleased with him right now as he is stressing, and being self directed this time on his requirements and studying for his 2nd degree national black belt test which is next month. We'll see if it holds but the difference in ownership is quite pleasing!

Now if that could only translate into his classwork....

I tried to post this late lastnight, but the darn boards went down. :headache:

So your mother is German and your father Bolivian? Quite an international family! :goodvibes

Ok, then I think German toilet paper is not thicker, but is just like the stuff that you use at home. I have only ever stayed in hotels in the US and while I have noted differences in quality, it is always rather thin. Also, here the layers of paper would be kind of connected with each other by a structure in the paper, so they cannot be sperated easily... :confused3

I was wondering about this. It's funny how we adults always come back around to talk about TP or things of that nature. I figured you'd only stayed in hotels in the states. :goodvibes

I really did not mean to offend anyone by implying that Americans aren't great hosts! I think that's the problem about generalizations about another country's habits - you will always find the exception! And I am really glad to see that there are so many wonderful people here who are the exceptions! :goodvibes

I don't think you offended anyone at all. :goodvibes I'm pretty hard to offend, I would have to know someone is going out of their way to be offensive before being offended, and even then I have pretty tough skin. :thumbsup2 I think we're all sharing our perceptions about other cultures, nothing wrong with that. If we don't share what we "know," how will we ever learn without visiting one another. I rather like sharing what our concepts our, it's interesting to see what others think, besides your so wonderful with all the information you share. :lovestruc

Aww... Magdalene you're wonderful to! And your not offending anyone!

See! You have nothing to worry about Magdalene. :goodvibes

Don't be too sad I didn't get the job- I'm not. Like someone else said, it's our first Christmas back, and we should make the most of it! I'm excited for my giaint dinner/dessert party- in fact, I'll be going down to Salem to start prelim. cleaning this weekend. Dad's having a hard time keeping up with that.

I've been wondering how he's doing since your MIL has passed. I'm glad your there to help him.

Q should be up VERY soon!

:goodvibes

It was! I can't wait to get to the DC Meet soon!

Me too! :yay:

I'm with you here Magdalene, I like a light wine. I like mine to be light and crisp. There are a couple of wines from Portugal that I really love. I think of this type of wine to be more a summer wine, and I love a good light Merlot for the winter. I'm not much for heavier wines, although I probably won't turn a glass down if it were offered.

As for turning one down. Never. I was in Salem, as you know, and went over to visit my new neighbor, Mary agian. Being the wine expert she is (she teaches at a Community College here) offered me a tasting of 3 sparkling wines- one from Italy, one from Spain and one from just down the street from our neighborhood. YUM!

I love my wine exactly like you, white, slightly sweet but not to sweet. :goodvibes Although, I'm looking forward to trying new wines, red or white. You'd probably like the Vinho Verde that I mentioned above-it's a Portuguese wine, it's slightly effervescent and very tasty AND inexpensive to boot! :thumbsup2

 I'm so sorry to hear this, I guess y'all are going to have to stay on top of his health in order for things to stay good for him. I'm kinda glad your not working this holiday season, y'all need to enjoy this season finally at home and not going off in different directions. I'm sure your party will be the bash of the year! :goodvibes
I think the reason you were told the Sunday thing didn't work is due to the fact they probably don't stay open all day Sunday. Most stores have shorter hours on Sunday, you know open later and close earlier.

:rotfl: I don't know why I found this to sound so funny but it did. I think I envisioned someone walking along and then all of a sudden a jolt, like being struck by lightening and shooting off a few electrical currents. ZZZZT!

He just decided that he won't be joining us for THanksgiving unless he doesn't have to spend the night- which puts a burden on us.... that means we have to drive up the Mt. Hood and back in one day, AND 24 hours with cousins we see MAYBE once a year will be cut out. I'm sad, but you do what you have to do.

It is, I'm sad the chatter had died off on my thread, I need to nurture it over there!

You can only do what you can. It will pick back up when you have the time to be there again.

Unfortunately that probably was a rather big deal, employers don't want to have to factor in your life and schedule needs at all and retail hours can be rather icky. I can only imagine just the restocking needs those places have over the holidays!

Yeah, I"m sure you're right. A big reason I really didn't lik doing retail when I did 20 years ago. Just the hours that flew all over the place and the inflexibility of them. :headache:

He's been all over the board with his tests over the years (and yes, it IS Evan ) some very nonchalant, others with major stress. Their tests went GREAT today!! They passed with great marks, and a fun surprise for them was the board breaking. Mikki is known around her club for her HARD kicks, so they gave her an 8 mm board to break. Although it took her a few times she did it. And it took two Masters to hold it. THey are very proud of their brand new yellow belts!!!

I tried to post this late lastnight, but the darn boards went down. :headache:

I hate when that happens!! But I was on last night too when they went down, but I pushed refresh for a while, and lo and behold it was UP again in about only 6 or so minutes. I think they only mix up the smilies sometimes. :lmao:

I"m sure I'll have my fair share of tasting after we move. I"ll have to let you know what becomes a favorite.

I hope so! I really want my parents to have a nice time, so they'll be comfortable coming back to Oregon a lot. :thumbsup2

Maybe. That's one thing I didn't even research very well... I should have taken the time to learn their hours and considered that. Ah well. Que sera, sera.

I don't know why I found this to sound so funny but it did. I think I envisioned someone walking along and then all of a sudden a jolt, like being struck by lightening and shooting off a few electrical currents. ZZZZT!

:lmao:

THat's a set up for a shocking engagement.

Me, too. Gets me every time all the Whos down in Whoville start singing. I'm a sucker. :lmao:

Ok, I'm all caught up, but I had to do it the way where I just clicked on your bookmarks and read each chapter, not all the in between, and I fear I missed some things because one of your posts said something about a job you didn't get. But I didn't read where you applied for a job.:confused3

Anyhow, WOW what drama your trip started out with, but glad that everything worked out with the egg stamp. Yikes about everyone getting sick, but glad everyone was well enough for your meet. The buildings, art, etc are breath taking. What fun tours and museums and things you visited.

Great souvies. And I would have been in that bakery every day, yummo. The pretzels had me drooling from several different posts/pictures.

Can't wait to see what happens next...
