The ABC's of Trip Planning, Pt 1- K is for Keeping Things Kooky- Drinks V-Z; pg. 197 + New Link

And while you posted this over on Glen's TR, I thought I better reply here. :goodvibes Let's just see what the future brings! I just think we would have a blast on a lady's trip to WDW together!! I nearly went into the men's room (on purpose, but then did not dare...) when I was at the Hoop Dee Doo Review in December because of you!! :lmao:

I'm glad you moved it over (and in fact, in doing so, you taught me a new skill- I had no idea you could quote from another thread!) because like I said, I"m going to have to scale back a bit until at least after Exam #2 so I can salvage my grade. :headache:

You, probably of a small handful I can see having the time of my life with. We tour quite similarly, and are just independent enough that we know when to say, "See you later- let's meet for lunch." It's a goal that is very high on my list, and since we've actually talked about this before, we need to make it happen. :hourglass

Aw, hon. :grouphug:

And :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2: You can do it!

Thanks, TK. While it's not a critical uphill battle, it's something that is going to take a lot of stimina... and dicipline.

Ok, I'm late but just started reading your PTR and couldn't believe it when I read your son is in school at WKU. I graduated from WKU in December of '13 and still live in Bowling Green! Small, small world!

OH MY, WELCOME!!!!! :) I"m so glad you're here with us; it's a very FUN place to be with a neat sense of community! I'm glad you've joined in!!! This is, obviously, going to be a long saga, and a journey that you'll hear, at least at the beginning, more about nursing school than about Disney. It's OK, that's why there IS a Disney trip at all. :)

Yes, he is a 2nd year Senior, and proudly wears his ACU's. You've probably seen him many times, as he was obsessive about serving on the Color Guard for almost EVERY game and sporting event in 2012 and 2013-2014. He loved it! There aren't very many Hilltoppers! YAY!!!!!

I'm sorry you didn't do as well on your test as you would have liked. Keep at it...you've got this.

Thanks, Kathy. I am a rather obsessive student, and have a 4.0 at this school for now. They told us that there are like maybe 5 who will pull an A out of the Program from here on out, and a B just is really hard to deal with. I need to get over that , and really just focus on passing. :guilty: Yes, I have issues.

THANK YOU ALL, truly from the bottom of my heart for cheering me on. The Exams have turned a corner from strict memorizing to really taking the info to the next level and applying it to scenarios that do not have a black and white answer.

Nursing School test questions are notorious for having more than 1 RIGHT answer, and you have to choose the BEST right answer.

1/2 of what I biffed up on was that I simply did not study the right material in a couple of content areas, and that there were at least 3 questions that I did not read the questions RIGHT; on one I made a VERY, VERY stupid math error. Fine for a test, but in real life, I probably killed a little kid with fluid overload.:scared1::scared::sad1::sad:

Ok, well, I am now having to memorize and study the implications and administration of narcotics for acute pain, managing medical orders and prep for tomorrow's 3 lectures. Fun, fun, fun!

You are all an amazing Cheering Squad! Thanks for you confidence in me....

Congrats on passing the test...

Nothing wrong with a little kid getting little bloated with too much fluid.

The sight of blood and guts bothers me MUCH less than someone in obvious pain with crying, hysterics and screaming. That part is harder to deal with for sure.
Glad the cut wasn't too serious.

He'll be fine, skin grows back pretty nicely although his thumb may be a bit ****-eyed forever. ;)

ETA: I find it rather hilarious that it edited out my description of what his thumb might look like in the future! Wow.
:lmao: :lmao:

Cant Open Carrots Kindly :rolleyes1

Anyway.... moving on.

Disney with more people is fun and adds extra elements of stress, thats for sure. If you are a serious planner, which you are, and sticking to daily schedules, may I suggest blocks of time where everyone can do their own thing. It sounds good in type, not sure how well it would work in real life. :surfweb:

Now that you know what to expect from the teacher, I'm willing to bet you do much better going forward!:thumbsup2

Barely.

:lmao:

However, I see you need some correction on which version is the correct one to be watching... :rolleyes1:rolleyes1

Glad the cut wasn't too serious.

Me too. Looking better every day. Although, now he says he wishes the tip would fall off; he'd rather have a shorter thumb with feeling, than a long one with no sensation. Makes sense to me.

We've run into this before. Still cracks me up. Someday, I may actually grow up.

I am a planner, and although I cannot start now, you KNOW I certainly will as soon as I can. :woohoo:

Yes, definitely going to focus on the details a whole lot more than I had a week ago.

Here's my take. I got an 82%- 75% is passing. It was a bad enough biff to give me a stern wake up call. Yet, not too terrible that I am in serious danger (at this point) of flunking out. Just bad enough to be a healthy poke in the eye. And prod behine me.

See, the way I think of it you'll probably NEVER make that mistake again so yout "biff" as you call it (is that word just for DISing or do you use that IRL??) will probably SAVE a little kids life because you'll be extrasuperduper careful about that from now on. :thumbsup2

Actually, that actually is a word I really do use. ;)

Well, that is a great way to look at it, for sure. However, I hope that 2X5=15 will never be a mistake that I make again. I mean... REALLY?!?! Ahhhhhhh, test stress... gotta love it. :sad2:

Maybe you were doing Crapistan math. :teacher:

:lmao::lmao: :lmao::lmao:

Maybe I'm just an idiot. Hey!! I coulda done a whole post for "I"!!!!!!

By the way, NO one took a stab at what I was thinking for G!! I should go back to offering prizes. I offer only the best, right??

Gee you want to go too?????

:lmao: Just thought I would guess. Catching up on chatter --- Now go Study!!!!! :rolleyes1

Two guesses:

Grandparents are coming!

Or

Gigantic group :lmao:

Very excellent guesses! Cynthia, yours is perfect, and had I been getting my creative on, I'd have gone with that one. Hope, yours is almost there...

I was going to go with Grandma and Grandpa are Going Too! However, in hindsight, that would have been completely inadequate, as my sister's family will likely go for at least a few days too.

Time will tell as things get closer. :hourglass

Well shoot, I am finally getting caught up and was going to guess.........

Going to need a Grand Villa

But it looks like you already spilled the "G" beans, which is better than spilling more "G" blood........

I think it is great that more of the family is at least thinking about going on this huge GRADUATION celebration. I'm already looking forward to meeting them all..........

I is for Important Implications Including Impotence

Week 2 update....

1/5 of the term is now over (2 out of 10 Weeks); it's hard to believe how quickly each day and each week flies by! I do feel like I want to ask your forgiveness for falling behind on your TR's that I follow (and believe it or not, I DO read when I can during breaks). I cannot comment NEARLY as much as I like to, including multi-quoting like a pro, but I read and see all your pictures, and long for the day when I can join in the banter beyond my own thread. It probably comes across as selfish. Sorry. :sad1:

So far we've covered Diabetes, Thyroid conditions, Acute Pain Management, Acid-Base Balance, Fluids and Electrolyte balance including IV fluid managment, Pain Management for the Elderly, Peripheral Vascular Disease, Managing Medical Orders, Time Mangament, and Therapeutic Communication. Still left for the next exam is Obstructive and Infectious Pulmonary Disorders. WHEW!!! Within those topics are about 30 medications that we need to know the classifications, side effects, actions, and nursing implications for. I am exhausted just reading that list. :faint: I think I may need some Ginseng and Gingko. Both of which can have MASSIVE SIDE EFFECTS with any prescription medicatations you may be taking.

Which brings me to a funny little anecdote:

We all know what the term “ADRs” refers to, right?? Those handy little passports to all manner of delicious and delectable eats all over Disney property. Replete with confirmations, numbers, stats, etc..

So, I'm sitting in class and the term "ADR" pops up right during the Acute Pain Management lecture, and I'm like HUH?! Why on earth would the instructor want us to be concerned about dinner reservations? What could eating possibly have to do with medications and side effects, or anything else related to medical care??

Naturally, I started day-dreaming about my trip, mostly about how I'm going to come up with the cashola to pull this trip off, while at the same time trying not to go into debt getting through school (which would probably put the trip off some months). I can neither confirm nor deny that my mind might have wandered off a bit to chocolate milkshakes too.

Anywhoooo, after deep contemplation about money and possibly milkshakes, I was again disturbed by the fact that the term “ADR” was being thrown around and was sadly not remotely related to good food in fun places.

As a side note, I bet you'd like to know which (real) ADRs I'm putting in the hat... but that's for a later time.

Finally, I got the answer I was looking for, and in case you really care at this point, it is the abbreviation for Adverse Drug Reactions. Those are really bad. Just to make sure you understand. You know, things like GI bleeding for aspirin, bone fractures from Prilosec and impotence from Valium. Good thing I don't have to worry about that, because I may need some by the end of this term. Guys, stay mentally healthy, k?

Well, that sums up Week 2. I got my Clinical Assignment this week as well, and will be spending about 40 hours in a Long Term Care Facility over the term, and also get to watch a surgical procedure, from the time the patient checks in to when s/he is either discharged or transferred to his or her room. I'm especially excited for that!!

Now, go do the right thing.

Which is a nice segue to my reminding you LURKERS out there, that you are very welcome here. Don't be shy! Introduce yourself!

Well, apparently, I have several DISFriends that are FAR more creative than I. That also was a VERY good chapter name. Had we not had a blood spurting, finger splaying incident, my chapter title would have been downright B.O.R.I.N.G. Clearly, some pre-writing consultations need to be happening here.

You will love them ALL! We are a fun bunch, who like to be silly when appropriate. Which is almost always. But not quite. ;)

Oh, so close!

Hey, you are here and that matters more. Because, I actually have a bit of a reputation of starting a contest on a whim. And hand out some pretty cool prizes. Some of of them you can actually eat... just ask about the "petrified camel poo". ;):lmao: Apparently, Rosie even still has hers. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

There is no reason to ask for forgiveness. School comes first and we all understand.

I love how your mind wandered to ADR's and food. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Clinical assignment this next week sounds interesting. Keep us posted on how it goes when you have time.

Actually, Kathy, that will be all term. 2 days a week for 5 weeks starting next week. :) So, the same place for it all, until next term, in which I'll go back to a hospital probably. :drive:
