We had never been to the Concourse Steakhouse, so we didn't realize it was on the lower level, and we almost didn't make it to our reservation. This is an interesting restaurant decor-wise. When you enter, you walk into this metal tunnel with blue flashing lights like a sci-fi runway. We did the wave for a pic; one with arms overhead, one with arms out, one with arms down, underneath the sign. If you go, do it, it came out cool! Inside the lounge, there are several round rooms with fake tea lights on the tables. Kind of neat, kind of cheesy. We had just sat down and looked at the bar menu when our buzzer went off so we didn't get to order drinks.
The podcast described the dining room as looking like it had been taken from an Ikea catalog. I can't describe it any better than that. My daughter, however, thought it was cool. While in the lounge we were looking over the menu and they had a lot of interesting sounding wines we had never heard of, so we decided to do the wine flight. We weren't able to, however, because they only offer it in the lounge, not the dining room for some reason. So instead I decide to order a Puretini. It was an interesting sounding drink with organic vodka and antioxidant juice. The server must have heard me wrong, because instead of a Puretini, he brought me... A GLOWTINI!!!

My husband died laughing and said now he was off the hook!
For an appetizer, my DH chose the Lettuce Wraps - sauteed lamb and bay scallops with soy-rice wine vinegar sauce . He enjoyed them, the lamb was very tender and the scallops were delicious in the sauce.
I chose the appetizer special, a tomato basil cream soup with a mini grilled cheese sandwich. It was YUMMY!
For dinner, I chose the Grilled Pork Tenderloin with pineapple rice, wilted greens and black been sauce. It was very good. The pork was very tender and I loved the rice and beans.
My DH had the Grilled Beef Tenderloin with oven-dried tomatoes, roasted fingerling potatoes, cabernet sauce and local greens. He did not think it was as good as Chefs de France, but he enjoyed it. Sorry it's a lousy picture!
DD had the pizza, which she loved!
Our server was very nice, although the service seemed very, very slow. I had timed it so we should have been done in time to head upstairs to the fourth floor observation deck for the July 3 fireworks, but instead, we had to let him know we were taking our drinks upstairs to watch the fireworks and would have dessert afterwards. Luckily, they were not busy at all so it wasn't a problem. We wouldn't be keeping someone else from having a table. In fact there were only three tables occupied, ourselves, one other family, and a sad man having dinner with a large Precious Moments doll that he talked to the entire time and then carefully boxed back up before leaving. We felt so sorry for him.
Here's a hint I got from a former CM and her DH that we met that worked out well for watching the fireworks at the Contemporary -- go outside on the fourth floor observation deck and then take the outside stairs up one level to the fifth floor landing to watch the fireworks. It's less crowded, you can still hear the music, and the monorail doesn't obstruct your view!
Dessert was excellent here. The organic, shade grown coffee was good, not too strong. I had the Crispy and Crunchy - Vanilla-braised Pineapple spears, Almond-pineapple-raisin "Baklava", or Zucchini-carrot cake with vanilla panna cotta. It was all good but the carrot cake was my favorite. My husband had the raspberry cheesecake, lemon-basil sorbet, and strawberry sorbet. He liked the raspberry cheesecake the best. Another birthday cupcake for DD
We enjoyed The Wave, although probably not enough to go back. It was a good value for 1 TS credit. We all agreed, though, that if we're going to the Contemporary, we like California Grill better.
