I have not been keeping up on this thread in MONTHS. My only source of credit card news has been my FB feed and google news feeds, etc. (I plan to go back and try to caught up but when I have more time.)
In that time, since March 2025, we have decluttered, cleaned, staged and listed our house in NY for sale; closed on the sale; and packed all our stuff in PODs and moved everything down to FL.
We are beyond exhausted while we are surrounded by boxes, we have no energy to unpack and organize.
We have just been charging everything on our existing credit cards because I have not had the time or energy to research and apply for new SUBs.
We booked an expensive cruise for this December as our light at the end of the tunnel back in June when we listed the house. Just noticed that the final payment in the 5 digits is due the TA on 8/30/2025!!! For such a large amount, I will cry without a SUB.
My last SUB for the CSP was in July 2021 and it was my plan to get the CSR when the 48 months was over but I see on all the new feeds that this 48 month rule is no more and is now a lifetime SUB and people are getting in pop up jail like for AMEX. I was in AMEX pop up jail, btw.
No time to downgrade CSP and "try" for the CSR anyway at this point...
I am panicking and thinking of applying for the biz CSR for the 200k SUB after $30k spend.
I can probably meet the spend in 6 months. It's been a while since I applied for a card, so my stomache is in knots. I forget but do I need to unfreeze my credit for business cards?
Also, I changed my name from my maiden name to my married name (after almost 30 years) when I applied for my FL drivers license (last week), but ALL my Chase accounts and credit cards are still in my maiden name. I was holding off on changing them until I could sit down with a banker and also figure out if I need to start using my married name for work. The main reason that I never changed my name is because I use my maiden name professionally and in all my various businesses. I have business relationships with my family aka the "Smith" family, so it made sense that everyone in the family business was named Smith, if that made sense?
So, I am thinking I should continue to apply for the card in my maiden name so that it stays linked to all my other business cards and then potentially change them all at once in the near future (after approval and receipt of the new card).
This game we play is so stressful...
Any other suggestions or advice? Am I missing something?
TIA
