The 7 a.m. Disney Wake Up Call

Early risers here (3am M-F for years....) so 7am is practically lunch for us

At WDW we're up by 6am & looking for breakfast - but sure hate the added stress of the 7am hunt now for LL - how i miss FP.

I’m taking a wait-and-see approach. I’m hopeful that guests will be able to add Genie+ all at once to the tickets rather than pay each day. I’m not sure if that’s a thing or not. So far all I’ve seen is the 7am thing, but I thought that was the Is$

I had expressed my disappointment at so much going on at 7 am. I received an email from Guest Services saying that Genie+ can be purchased ahead of time for the entire duration of the trip. Here is part of the response I received:

“Disney Genie itinerary planning service will launch this fall at Walt Disney World Resort®. We look forward to sharing more details soon, including when Guests may begin buying Disney Genie+ by adding it to their vacation package or tickets. After launch, you will be able to purchase the Disney Genie+ service ahead of your visit if you wish as a ticket add-on, or on the day of your visit.”

7 pm would be during park hours the night before - guess I can't get in line for space mountain since it looks I'll be boarding near the exact time I have to click buttons? Cutting into any of the hours a guest paid to be in the park in is obviously worse.

So if you don't get whatever your number one choice is you can change your plans for the day? Pick another park or not drive to Disney at all that day. Park open would mean I would have to be standing at the gates to make use of all of the hours of my paid time the ticket comes with.

So you, personally, would be busy at 7pm making it an inopportune time; but, that's not true for everyone? With every comment I've seen you make in this thread, I just keep getting a sense that the time works for you, personally, so why change it - even if others demonstrate that it's not the most useful. I find Disney World to be unique in its reliance on things like 6am ADRs/7am BGs/7AM IA$, etc. I'm just pointing out that for some people, it's not quite as simple as, "The time works for @PaladinButters so it should work for you!" I'm glad it works for you, truly - it's just strange that people can't see that the lives and perspective of others are equally valid.

You're completely missing the difference between 'my free time' and 'cutting in to park time I paid for' in the 7am v 7pm but that's ok. I will continue to think not cutting into anyone's hundred and whatever dollar a day ticket time is better than cutting into it no matter what time in the morning they choose to use and you can think that's somehow not better. We are never going to agree.
Tickets / reservations / product launches / whatever all have release times out in the real world not just at Disney. Have you never purchased or reserved anything new, hot, or in demand anywhere else ever? You will find every time out there from a midnight release to a mid-day release. There's nothing unique about a timed release at Disney or their "reliance" on having morning hours for releases.

The time is fine, but I just don’t like the added stress. We are usually awake and getting ready by then.

Next year will be our first time using anything like this. We have a DAS pass for my son and I’m wondering how all this impacts that. It’s so confusing.

DAS seems like it will be improved with the ability to preschedule two rides per day.

While I do normally get up early for rope drop, it does get more difficult the morning after an after hours event or other late night party that keeps me up past midnight. I'd usually compensate for that by planning to visit a park with a later opening time the next day, but this will force me to get up early every day regardless.

As someone who is up early every day, vacation or not, I'm hoping the parks will be a little less crowded at rope drop going forward!
Not sure. If people are up at 7am anyway, they'll probably rope drop as well. Like the morning crowds at Hollywood studios when there were boarding groups for rise. Time will tell.

I said that from the day they announced it. If your up allready, mite as well go tonthe park. And since im paying extra, make the most of it. I see bigger crowds earlier. Late night may be the new rooe drop, lol.

I think my point is exactly this - in the larger world, you'll find every time out there from midnight to mid-day. So, it's possible to imagine a world where one time isn't necessarily the only time available. So, for some people (not everyone), having the same one time daily (for however long they're on vacation) may not work. It's not a one-time to get ADRs 2 (or 6) months in advance. Lots of people can make that accommodation (or let go of dining in particular places) one time. Is that a particularly useful or accessible way for each day of vacation to begin? Not necessarily if you have other things that may need to happen (taking care of children or your own body). Does it work for you - sure and that's great and give yourself a pat on the back :thumbsup2 !
