The 4th fastpass! How lucky have you been?

A question for all the park hoppers out there. So we are headed to the world in about a month and are planning on doing some park hopping. With only being able to book the first 3 fast passes, and having to keep them to one park. My question is how likely/unlikely it is to get "E-ticket attraction fast passes (eg: Toy Story Mania, Soarin, Test Track, Expedition Everest, splash mountain etc.. ) when going for your 4th, 5th, 6th fastpass and moving on to your second and third park for the day? And how has your experience been with this? Lucky or unlucky.

note, I have no expectations one way or another to get popular fast passes in the middle of the day. It would be nice, but I wouldn't assume they'd be available. I'm just curious what others experience has been with this new fastpass+ system.

Also sorry if this has already been asked(numerous times?)I did a search prior but couldn't find any info..

Thanks!

We were in WDW at the beginning of May and the only two attractions that were "sold out" when we booked a 4th were TSMM and Soarin'. As far as everything else was concerned, not only were there spaces available but ample time slots to choose from too. Keep in mind though that this was at the beginning of May, a regular crowd season, whereas your trip next month falls into the summer season category.

We are wondering the same thing, we were there last November and saved all of our FP+ for the 2nd park. Don't know if strategies have changed with the system or not. 11 more days for us to book FP and don't really know what time to book them.

This is a good question, and I have the same expectation for mid-afternoon FP options -- i.e., not really expecting the "good" ones to be available as readily as they might have been a few days/weeks earlier as one of the first three.

We are going in July, and my strategy for park-hopping days will be to try to hit rope-drop at our first park, so we can walk on a few favorites with minimal lines and then have our FP choices reserved for the second park so that we are not left empty-handed and with two-hour standby lines. That seems to go against the common approach of a one-park day of trying to knock out the FP's fairly early so that the 4th, 5th, etc., ones can be gotten earlier, too. I guess time will tell what strategies work best for certain families.

We were just there last week. I planned 2 of our 5 park days for night time FP at Hollywood Studios bc I had a feeling there wouldn't be any FP left for TSMM by the time we got there. We got to other parks at RD and didn't feel the need for FP before lunch anyway.

Our other three days there wasn't too much left when we went to get our 4th (about 3ish). At MK the only time slots left for Splash and Space were after 9pm and we had planned the parade and fireworks. At HS we did look after we used our 3 and there was nothing good left, just Muppet Show and Star Tours.

We just got back from Disney. It all depends on the time of day. We used our last FP around 6:00 and could not get any FP for Space Mountain (only wanted 2) for the remainder of the night. Magic Kingdome closed at midnight the entire time we were there. We also were unable to get Peter Pan FP and the wait was incredibly long. I"d say if it's before 3 you've got a good chance of getting FP. Good luck and have magical time.

almost no chance. no TSMM, any splash and big thunder were 10pm or later when I would look at 3 or 4pm last week. Lots of pirates, haunted mansion, no peter pan, coasters, big ticket rides available after 3 unless it was after 10 and then still sketchy.

My guess is little luck on Epcot Soarin and Test Track

HS - tough for TSMM

MK - tricky on 7DMT

But plan to hit those - and no problem.

Put FP+ earlier - and then schedule the others as soon as you can

We had no problem scheduling almost any of the other attractions in May.

FP+ for e-ticket rides seemed to be gone by the afternoon for the most part. We tried to do those in the morning instead. We got lucky one evening: we went to DHS around 4 PM and secured FP+ for Rock n' Roller Coaster around 6 PM. That only happened once in our trip though!

Does anyone know if you can use your 4th fastpass for nighttime shows? Is there usually availability?

We just got home last night. FP+ kiosk lines were really long starting around 1:00. At MK these are the FP+ that were not open pretty much any for the day...Wishes, 7DMT and the early nighttime parade. Splash, BTMR, Space and PP were all very late....9:00 or after even pretty early in the day. We were making some day of around 10:00 and this is what we found. Even that early we weren't finding after time slots for those rides mentioned. We rode 7DMT at RD one day and was behind a family that I heard talking about trying to get a FP+ for the ride and was unable to get one of the whole week they were visiting. My DH was next to a lady making day of FP+ around 10:00 a.m. and the CM told her that all the 7DMT FP+ were all gone and that most were booked 60 days out. She was not a happy camper and let the CM know that she thought that was crazy.

We were there 5/24 - 5/31. We would use our three FP+ in the morning/early afternoon then would leave to go back to the resort for pool time. We usually got back to a park between 3:00 - 5:00 and honestly, there were never great E-ticket choices left. But it didn't surprise us.

This was a good question:thumbsup2
I suspected as much, and here is my strategy, is almost the same as before. Headliners in the morning with FP's, book filler FP's for the afternoon and will see if I can get. Late FP's for our late night/afternoon break days.

It is different and I am not happy about the changes, but we will deal.

I would imagine that FP+ availability (at any time) is dependent on your group size. If group size is 2, I'd bet they have a better chance for a headliner FP+ in the afternoon versus a whole bunch of people...kind of like taking a big group to a restaurant at dinner time, you'd probably have to wait longer than a small group.

We tried many times during our early May trip and was unsuccessful trying to get soarin or test track around 1:00pm for any time that evening. We tried 4 different days and nothing. I wish there was a kiosk in the resorts so you can look or check availability before getting there.

I guess I understand the theory as to why we can't get the 4th FP+ on our iPhone, but it would be nice to know the availability so that you can plan which park to return to later that day. :worried:

Last week in the Magic Kingdom we used our 3rd fast pass at 3 and could not book anything we wanted until after 7 pm. The cast member tried to talk us into a small world fast pass, but we declined and went swimming.

We were at WDW from June 7th-14th, and we used a fourth FP+ exactly twice. Once was for another ride on Star Tours during Star Wars weekend. The other was at Epcot, for Maelstrom, when the standby wait was 25 minutes. We had used our first three FP+ on Soarin' (90 minute standby), Spaceship Earth (35 minute standby), and Mission Space (10 minute standby, but used it so we could get another Tier 1 FP+).

Every other day that we were going to try to get a fourth FP+, either the kiosk lines were ridiculously long, or there was nothing worthwhile available at a time that would work for us.

We ended up using our first three FP+ selections for stuff like Anna & Elsa, Mine Train, TSMM, and Soarin' earlier in the day, then taking a break at the resort, and going back to the parks late at night, when almost everything was walk-on, or just scheduling the FP+ for the evening and doing other stuff earlier in the day.

I hope that things will improve once you can book the additional FP+ using the website/app, but right now, it's kind of a joke in my opinion.

Other than Disney keeps saying that will NEVER be the case. Of course, we know "everything Disney says is in jello".
