The 2010 Baltic Thread--Cruise Tips and Planning

Agree on the weather. I think the only day it might get genuinely hot is the Warnemunde day, and that's only for people going into Berlin. Otherwise, it looks like the average highs are upper 60s/low 70s in each of the ports. I think it could feel pretty chilly on the water.

I am thinking of pants/capris for us with shirts and light jacket, might have a sweatshirt each also, but thinking will have those for plane, can always use them as blankets or pillows

Thank you all for posts on the clothes will make sure to bring layers and jackets for sure.

Mrs G. how do I get to the link to for the July 18 Baltic?

Seems like everyone who is on a Baltic cruise is a repeat DCL cruiser. Are there any first time DCL cruiser doing the Baltic? Also, who among has also sailed on the DCL Med cruise? We sailed on the maiden DCL med cruise (and we're on the maiden Baltic too).

~Mike

Hey Mike - This will be our 4th DCL. We were also on the maiden voyage of the Med cruise in 2007.

Hello,

We're on the July 18 Baltic with a stop in Tallin. We're planning our excursions and was wondering if anyone knows where the ship will dock at each port. If our excursions are done early, we'd like to walk around and do some sightseeing on our own until it's time to depart. Not sure if that's doable at any of the ports. Anyone know?

Thanks

I found this posted on the July 6th thread:

Here are the locations where we will be docking for the following ports
of call:

Oslo, Norway: Akershus Kaia
Copenhagen, Denmark: Langelinie
Helsinki, Finland: Munkki Saari Quay, West Harbour
Stockholm, Sweden: Frihamnen

Not sure about Tallin as we are not going there but everything I have seen on Cruise Critic says that it is a very easy walk from the port to town.

We are on the July 18th cruise and this is our first time on DCL. 10 years ago my DH and I were on Celebrity in Alaska but that has been it for us regarding cruises. Our DD (6 years old) has never been on a cruise. I hope we like this cruise (and cruise line) as much as you all do!

We were on the lucky 7/7/7 Med cruise. That was our first, and the Baltic is our third! Also did the 2008 Eastbound Panama cruise. It is going to be so wierd doing a 4 day cruise in January!
We were also on the 7/7/7 cruise. The departure date coinceded nicely with my --th birthday! We did 2 DCL caribean cruise before that (several years apart).

Wow! Thanks for the link to that July 18 Baltic Ballyhoo! What a ton of info to go over, you sure all have a great time there, will look forward to becoming a part of it. Thanks!

Just wondering if anyone is doing Tavoli Gardens in Copenhagen on your own. As it seems close to the ship, and the tickets are not that expensive. I don't see the advantage of paying the Disney $199 other that you get into the gardens earlier than when it opens. Any thoughts? Also if doing this is it possible to get the Tavoli tickets via mail or have to buy at the gate? thanks for any info or thoughts.

I plan on doing Tivoli myself - if only to see the replica of The Little Mermaid since the original will not be there. I don't know if you can get tickets by mail but it's probably just as easy to get them at the gate.

We were also on the 7/7/07 Med cruise. The Baltic will be our 10th Disney cruise! (Yea! We'll be platinum after that!) We did the Mexican Riviera in '08. Just finished a 3-night Wonder cruise today! :goodvibes Have a B2B already booked on the Dream, too. :)

We were on the 070707 Med cruise too!! It was a fun cruise and our 5th. First time for us to meet DIS people and do things with DIS people. Met so many nice people on that cruise and some are on this cruise also.
We are looking forward to meeting new friends too....
leaving for Disneyland in less then one week...that is going to be so much fun. Get to go to Club 33 for lunch and breakfast....all in one week!!!! :cool1:

I'm so envious!! DL is my favorite. We were just there again last September. DH and I love staying at GC and can't wait to stay in the new villas! I came really, really close to being able to eat in Club 33 about five years ago, and then it fell through. :sad1: I've been fortunate enough to tour it twice, though. I still hope to eat there one day....

Have a fabulous time!!!!! :goodvibes

Our tentative plans are to see Tivoli on our own.

If it helps any, the mermaid that is visiting Shanghai isn't the original, either.

Hi .. I was just talking to someone here at work and they asked me a question that I never thought of. Maybe some of you know the answer?

What is the Bug situation like in June/July? Should bug spray be packed?

I know in Northern Ontario, June/July is the dreaded Black Fly season!!

Ugh ... I'm already scratching!

I hadn't realised that but I'd still rather see a copy of a copy (or I suppose I should say a second copy of the original) than the 'art installation' that is taking her place. :goodvibes
