The 2010 Baltic Thread--Cruise Tips and Planning

I'm trying to remember which sailings are affected by the late port times. Can anyone help me with that?

Thanks
Jeff

Lots of people doing Europe or the Med on the Disboards until they start the trip then they disappear until the trip is over! :confused3 :surfweb: It is too time consuming to get online when you are having so much fun. :cool1:

But don't they realize how important this information is to us? ;)

Oslo, Copenhagen and Warnemunde are pretty intensive on this cruise, I suspect on Thursdays sea day people will update us.

Robert, you didn't like the pirate bars??

I remember Ice Cream Bars with no Chocolate covering????

I could be incorrect or I could have been under the influence of a foreign substance. :drinking1:

I do remember getting them in the dining room one night & being thoroughly dissapointed??????:headache:

But I know that since you will be aboard the Magic before I, :thumbsup2 that you will report back as to what type of Ice Cream treats will be available!:woohoo::yay::cool1::banana:

I can't remember if the pirate had a chocolate hat or not but you're right it wasn't all chocolate covered.

heck I'll get on the internet and post an ice cream update if you don't get one before next week.

Hello!

Few Questions for Andrew and others:

(You all have been very helpful, thanks for taking the time to help us.)

1) We will be traveling with the inlaws. We would like to buy a couple pay as you go cell phones that will work in most of Europe, so we can stay in touch with them in case of emergencies in ports, etc. Is this feasible, and where/what carrier would you recommend? I think it won't work in Russia.

2) How prevalent is free wi-fi in Europe? My DW and I each have an ipod touch and would like to use it for email, etc. Are the systems (US ipod touch wifi and Europe) compatible? I heard many McDonalds have wifi, I think Andrew used it in Dover to upload pics?

Thanks in advance

Ken

OK

Didnt predict this!!!

I thought the Magic would go South out of Copenhagen, not North and then around, on its way to Warnmunde.

Rain is forecast for Warnemunde.

Andrew, where are you getting this map and track? Thanks!

Ken

Are the systems (US ipod touch wifi and Europe) compatible?

The 802.11 standard (Wi-Fi) is a global standard, so yes, compatable. Europe does have two additional Wi-Fi channels they can use (12 & 13), but highly unlikely you'd find them in use on any network intended for guest use.

Home networks, you never know. Most people don't understand what they're doing when they configure them.

Found out that if you have a verizon phone-they will give you a loaner phone that works in Europe for free. You do have to pay by minute if you use it of course, but it is perfect for emergency use (which is what we are looking for).
But this only works if you have a verizon plan to start with:confused3

I have asked this before a few months ago, but I can't remember or find the answer. Can someone give me the link to the train schedules? We're traveling to Liverpool from London for a day trip before the cruise. I know we have to depart from Euston Station, but I cannot find the schedule for the life of me!

Thank you,
Beth :cutie:

PS: We're sailing on the July 18th cruise

Try www.thetrainline.com

Usually have the best fares.

Be aware that the trains in the UK are not always as efficient as Europe!

We live near Liverpool, it is a lovely city.
