No rehab at the pool (& slide). I was there two days ago and people were on the slide and the pool was jammed!!

I've already posted this question on a Club Level thread, but I thought I'd ask it here.

Does the YC CL offer instant oatmeal or hard boiled eggs at breakfast?

TIA!

Yep, he was so cute. I'm still coughing and wheezing since my last bad sinus infection almost 3 months ago. I catch so many bugs pin trading or as my doctor says "germ trading".

Sorry you're still not feeling well  That next Castaway Cay trip can't come soon enough for you!

My daughter just found out her hours for next weekend so we're all set to go. :yay: It sounds like it will be busy still - all the Epcot resorts look pretty full! I'm looking forward to F&GF and seeing what's new for this year.
See you soon! Take care of yourself.

We are staying in a stone harbor club room with a lagoon view do any of these rooms have a view where you can see the Epcot fireworks........

I read a rumor somewhere that the SAB slide was down until sometime in May, but I can't find anything about it here? Are there rehabs being done on the pool right now? :confused3 If so, when will things be back to normal.

Was praying this wasn't true, but I found the source of the story. Hoping it is done by the end of the month. If anyone know anything about it, I would love to hear details.

BTW....This is the best thread! I have learned so much!:yay:

This is a bummer because my kid was really looking forward to the slide, but at least we'll get to experience two different pools!

Why in the world are they rehabbing the slide in May when they have had this whole crappy winter to do it!!! We get there on the 1st and SAB is the main reason we booked
BC instead of BWI. Great!!! Okay, rant over!

All I know is that it is up and working two days ago. I will ask when I get to work on Saturday if there is a planned rehab for the slide in May.

Bummer! Hope it will be finished long before the end of May :cutie: Thank you for posting this, though :surfweb:

Yes - many thanks to the original poster. Things are so much less disappointing when you can manage your expectations.

Does anyone know how long it takes to get to BWI? I know my son is going to want to try out that slide!

Not sure about instant oatmeal but they do have sliced hard boiled eggs.

i called and asked the hotel about it b/c i started panicing. the pool was the main reason we chose this resort. i was told the pool will be open, but can anyone verify that? i am totally bummed about this. why announce it so late? i have been checking so many times when we were going to make the reservation and there was nothing going on. i wonder why they only announce it weeks before? if anyone has more info, i would love to hear :(

do they have to be rented or complimentary? also, do waterparks have them available for use? thanks!

First of all, when you call the hotel, you get the answer center, not the hotel. Second, the pool will be open even if the slide is not. Even when they did the huge rehab last winter, they only closed one-third of the pool at a time.

I will find out for sure sometime between now and Saturday and let everybody know if in fact the slide will be down.

Something could have happened to the slide just recently which would cause them to bring it out of order to fix it. Normally they schedule all pool rehab during January and February. Things happen though ... my water heater always breaks when we don't expect it. My air conditioning unit has gone down twice in the middle of the summer even though I have it maintained on an annual basis.

Lets not all get upset and in a panic until we have a firm confirmation which I promise you I will get.

Thanks for the info...I hope my message wasn't taken out of context, I was just surprised to hear about it and was hoping the pool would be open. Thank you! I can calm down now knowing the pool isn't closing as well :) thanks for your help!

Thank you so much :flower3:

Certainly not all maintenance can be anticipated. One thing I have learned from years of WDW trips, Disney seems to do a great job keeping everything maintained and in working order :wizard:, with a minimum of disturbance to guests.

:sad2::sad2::mad:

Just received a letter titled "For Your Future Enjoyment" and at first I was thrilled thinking I may have gotten a pin or some sort of special offer but noooo it is a letter about the closing of the slide at Stormalong Bay from May 2nd until "late May". Aghhh!! :headache:

OK here is my rant....why is this notice coming out so late?? Why are they closing the pool in May when it is clearly a warm month for swimming instead of in Dec, Jan, Feb, or even early March for goodness sake! Now, my family and I struggled to find a place we all wanted to stay. Eventually decided on BC and a large part due to the pool and slide. The kids have been talking about the slide forever (we planned the trip in Dec!!!). I just can't believe this and how is opening up the pool slide at the BWI supposed to make up for it. We even upgraded to CL rooms and thought on pool days it would be the best because of drinks and snacks so close by. Well, how is it close by if we are at BWI??? :sad1:

Geesh, it is too late to change resorts both because we have already planned so much around this one AND how are we going to get discounted CL rooms elsewhere at such a late date. I guess I'm just sad, disappointed and a bit shocked plus don't want to break it to the rest of the family. :sad1: I know it is just a slide but it was important to the kids and the other one is not just out the door nor is it the same.

We don't go until the end of May so maybe, just maybe they will finish quickly. Fingers crossed.:o Sorry for the long rant.

Hi, everyone! I mostly lurk on this thread, so your information has been great! That being said, I hope I can help here. After reading your posts re: the slide at SAB, I called IPO. (We're staying CL at the BC May 8-17.) Per the person who answered the phone, the slide WILL close May 2 to be re-opened sometime toward the end of May. (no firm date yet) He said the slide has become less slippery (?) and "lost its friction" so they need to fix it. He said it just happened fairly recently and that a shuttle would go to the Boardwalk pool during this time so we could use the slide there. The rest of the pool, lazy river, etc. will be open.

I know my kids will be SO bummed! However, I guess my "bright side" is that I still don't feel completely comfortable having them leave the SAB area to go to the slide on their own (without me or DH watching them) so I guess they can be more independent at the BW pool. We'll just have to play it by ear.

For the PP who asked about life jackets, yes they had them last year. They had all different sizes and you just gave your room # as collateral. If you didn't return it at the end of your stay they charged $50, I think. Otherwise, they were free. Pool innertubes were rented by the day or hour and noodles could be purchased, but life jackets were free.

Hope this helps!

Have a great trip everyone!
