Teena S. My sil and I are staying at the YC January 17-22. I have been a few times and she has never been. I have reserved a standard room with AAA discount. The middle of July my brother (her husband) died suddenly and tragically. I wanted to cancel the trip and she said no, "if we make it through the winter holidays I would like to get away". Now my question. With a standard room reserved what view could I expect. If I can swing it I would like to get a lagoon view, but right now that is too expensive. I want to make this trip as nice as possible for her. Thanks anyone in advance.

I'm so so sorry about your brother.

With a standard view room, you can get a nice view or a view of a roof or parking lot. If I were you, I'd call and put a request on your reservation. I would probably put "courtyard or quiet pool view please". With that request on your reservation, you get a better chance of getting a decent view. No guarantees of course but you have a better chance than if you have no request at all on the reservation. Send me a PM about two weeks before you arrive and remind me you are coming.

Tiggersmyguy - could you feel the mattress conform to your back? Like was it soft to sit on or more firm?

I think it must be a firm pillow top mattress. It is somewhat soft to sit on but very supportive to sleep on. We have a firm Tempurpedic at home and I had no problem with the beds at the YC.:flower3:

We leave tomorrow for the BC!!! We've had a tough weekend here at home with different circumstances that have come up, so I haven't even gotten to start packing yet!!! :scared1: Let's just say that this vacation is DEFINITELY needed! :cool1:

Have a wonderful time.:banana:Just throw stuff in the suitcase and don't worry about anything. Say Hi to TeenaS.

It's almost time!!! We leave on the 22nd for Disney. We are staying 5 nights at BLT but then we are headed over to the YC for our last 3 nights and my birthday!! I can't wait! :goodvibes

I've read through probably half of the messages. I'm sorry if any of my questions have already been asked but I'm trying to make a decision and I may not get through the rest of the thread that quickly.

I currently have a reservation at POFQ for 12/17-12/29 but I have an opportunity to upgrade my family to YC water view for 12/24-12/29. I need to decide if I should do this or not. My concern is regarding food options. I've also posted on the disABILITIES! and restaurant board, but everybody here seems so knowledgeable about details of BC/YC so I figured I'd likely get the most accurate answers here.

1. On the restaurant board, somebody mentioned that Beaches & Cream breakfast offerings will not be continued. Is this correct?

2. Are the only CS offerings at BC/YC sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs and chicken fingers?

3. How easily can the CS locations handle food allergies? Is there much variety at all for those with allergies? I know food courts at other resorts carry some gluten free flour mixes for being able to make chicken fingers but does anywhere at BC/YC? I know we've had safe foods at a couple TS locations at BC, but we've never looked at the CS offerings before since we've never stayed before.

4. Does Beaches & Cream carry Tofutti ice cream (a brand of vegan ice cream carried elsewhere around WDW)?

5. Are there any kinds of groceries that can be purchased at the resort? Can I get Silk soy milk anywhere? If yes, can I purchase large bottles or am I limitted to the single serving bottles?

I have emailed Special Diets with questions as well, but in my experience, they don't have detailed info about the resort CS locations and just arrange for a chef to call a couple weeks before check-in. I do understand that I also have easy access to Epcot where Sunshine Seasons is amazing for food allergies, but we like to spend time at our resort without schlepping around so we need to know that there will be food available that my daughter can eat.

OK, I guess I have a couple non food related questions as well.

6. Over the holidays, do BC/YC typically share MK and AK busses with BWI and Swalphin or do they typically have a dedicated bus?

7. Do water view rooms all face the beach or SAB or are there other places that they could face?

8. Does SAB ever get filled to capacity where people are turned away?

Thank you so much in advance for any help you can provide! I'm REALLY hoping we can make this work to be able to stay at YC. Each time we've eaten we've said how much we'd love to stay there (or BC, but the opportunity that I have is for YC).

TeenaS - I just wanted to say Thank you for all the great information you provide about the YC/BC. You are wonderful!

We are booked at YC Gardenview Concierge for this upcoming December. What type of view does that allow me? Is there any specific view or room locaton I can request to avoid looking at the parking lot. Unfortunatley, the water view concierge rooms were not available when we booked!

THANKS!
Renee :)

Not Teena - but we stayed YC GV CL last October. We had a really nice room overlooking the back courtyard. If you looked to the right you could see Crescent Lake. I'm sure Teena can give you lots more information but HTH!

Thanks for those nice words. Since you booked "gardenview", if I were you, I'd just put in a request for a courtyard view and hope for the best. A gardenview can be a view of a parking lot, a roof, a courtyard, or a garden. There's no guarantee of course that you will get what you request due to what rooms are available on the day you check in, how full we are, your bedding requirements, etc. Don't fret over the view too much though. I think you'll find you won't be looking out at the view as much as you think. You'll be in the lounge alot I'm sure getting something to eat or drink and I find that most of the time you are in your room you'll probably be sleeping, changing clothes, etc., with the drapes closed.

December is one of my favorite times at the Y&B ... I love our lobbys. I love going around to the other resorts too to check out the holiday decorations. All that means less time in the room and looking at the view. If you do plan on spending lots of time on the balcony enjoying the view, and you get a roof view after all, you can always go back to the desk and ask them if it is possible to change to a better view since you spend lots of time on the balcony looking at the view. Perhaps if there is nothing available on the day you check-in, they can set you up for a room change to a better view the next day or two. I can't guarantee they can change your room but it's certainly worth a try. It all depends on our numbers (how full we are) at the time you are there plus the bed requirements. If you are a family of five and you have to have a daybed, that narrows the room choices down considerably too.

See you in December!

We did have two queen beds and a daybed in our room, and it appears to be larger than yours from "link deleted" this map[/URL].

I had never seen that map before, so thanks for posting the link!

Does anyone know...
Are the only king beds available in standard rooms murphy beds?:confused3
Has anyone slept on these beds before... are they comfortable?

We leave in less than a week and our only request was for a king size bed because this trip is to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary:cloud9:, besides being our first trip to BC and only our second trip to WDW ever:woohoo:.
We sleep on a king size at home and are used to it after 20 years:goodvibes
Thanks for your help- LOVE this thread!

What do you all think about the shampoo & conditioner available in the room?
Do I need to bring my own?:confused3
I'd hate to lug a jug of soap all the way:headache: to WDW just to find out what's there complimentary is better than the Suave I get at Wal-Mart!:lmao:
Thanks!:thumbsup2

There is nice shampoo and conditioner, shower gel and soap in the rooms. It is from H20 and I like it. I wouldn't bring my own when the hotel gives you shampoo (but then, I like to pack lightly).:)

There are rooms that have a king size bed without the Murphy bed. We had one in June. It was great!!! I would use the shampoo and soap that Disney offers. I liked it. Have fun.

Thank you!! We are a family of three- 2 adults and a 2 year old, so bedding is not an issue! I can't wait to see the holiday decorations in the hotels! Thanks for the advice on the room view and I will certainly make a request and hope for the best! Hope to see you!!!! :)

We'll be at BCV from 9/26 'til 10/4!

I have been searching (here and in other sites) for the schedule for the movies on the beach, and I haven't got any results. I found it the last time we were there, but this time...no luck. We're taking care of our Grandkids a couple of nights and letting their Mom & Dad go out with cousins, so any and all entertainment will be greatly appreciated. Even if the baby (1yr) and triplets (2 1/2 yrs) go to bed in the room, one of us could take the 5 yr old to the movies.

TeenaS, looking forward to meeting you...you are so helpful answering everyone's questions.

:cheer2: Be there soon!
:cheer2:

We've stayed at BC numerous times, but it was fun reading this just to see if I learned anything new. :) Its our favorite resort. I've never requested a specific room type or location, but never had one that I didn't like...each one was different, but none were bad, and we were even surprised with a king waterview once when we booked a standard double queen (no kids, romantic weekend getaway!) I am glad to see they're offering a better breakfast choice now, I hope it will stay.

To the poster who asked about the shampoo and such...I love it, and always save a soap to bring home to remind me of the BC, it smells so nice. My middle dd can't use the shampoo, it makes her itchy for some reason. She doesn't have trouble with anything we use at home, she's not my allergic kid so this surprised me.

Thanks for the good info ladies!:worship:
I LOVE having a few things on my list I can cross off and NOT bring to WDW!
The list of things I need to buy & pack is SO much longer...:rotfl: since I started reading this thread!
Thanks for the info on the King bed- I am planning on being ecstatic:cloud9: no matter where we sleep- after all we'll be at WDW & the BC:woohoo:
