I'm sure I've read somewhere but can't fine it now  does the Ale & Compass (lobby bar) still have items for a quick breakfast?

Thanks

Very limited, but enough for us. They have muffins, bagels, fruit, cereal and most important, COFFEE (as well as coffee bar drinks such as lattes and cappuccinos).

It's very small, but you can't beat the convenience!

Hi All

We'll be staying at YC CL in a few weeks. We have a cl lagoon view. We will have our 19 month old son with us, and I was hoping to get a room close to the kiddy area pool/main building. My husband will be attending a conference; so some days it will be just the baby and myself. Im hoping it won't be a long schlep from the room to the pool/food for us. I am not familiar with the layout of yc. Is there a room I should request? Any info is greatly appreciated!

Okay, just got back from a week at BCV, my first stay at the resort in any of its sections. I'll have more to report and pictures, but first I want to make a comment.

Our last day after we had officially checked out, we realized my five-year-old brother had left his beloved blankey behind. My dad was let back into the room to check for it, but the sheets had already been replaced and our suspicion was that the little blanket had been wrapped up in the sheets of my brother's bed and that's how it was overlooked.

So my dad went to Art, asking where the lost and found was. He told Art the whole situation and Art said odds were it wouldn't be in lost and found yet, but that housekeeping would have it and that the laundry trucks hadn't left for the day so it should still be floating around the resort. Art immediately got on the phone, called housekeeping. Apparently, they were giving him the runaround because he started getting angry and told them to get their manager on the phone. He talked to the manager, then went and got his own. His manager admitted it was going to be like pulling teeth to get housekeeping to make a special effort to look for it, but that she and Art were going to do everything they could to make sure that if it was spotted after being laundered that it was returned to the Beach Club and shipped back home. They then credited my dad 40 dollars to his room charge.

Thousands of people stay at that resort and stuff gets lost all the time, yet after a passing comment about a missing blanket from my dad, Art went above and beyond the call of duty to try and find my brother's blanket. We may never see it again, but just the fact he tried the way he did is incredible.

I never got a chance to see him when I was there, but he still made a lasting impression on my trip. It's clear why he's been a part of the Beach Club experience since that place opened. Sure, the rides are amazing, the characters are fun, the food is (usually) great... but it's people like Art that truly make Disney World the special place it is.

Be sure to email Disney and let them know. Employees receive special recognition when guests do that.

For the last 10 years I have made it a point to carry a small notepad and write down names of individuals who give us exceptional service. I figure if I am going to complain about bad service ... I should take the time to recognize good service.

At Disney, for employees, it does make a difference.:thumbsup2

There are some CL rooms that are right in front of SAB but the walk down to the elevator is a bit longer ...

The best thing to do would be to call the staff and let them know your request. Tell them just what you told us here on the forum. They will know where to place you. The CL staff at the YC we have found to be very good and they go above and beyond. But, do let them know ahead of time so they can assign you a room that meets your needs.

I wouldn't wait a lot longer as room assignments are typically done 5-6 days out. They are downloaded to the "hotel system" prior to this so you may be close to a time when the hotel can directly access your reservation. Keep in mind they can always move you at check in depending on availability. Always ask if you aren't happy with the location of your room.

Yacht Club standard rooms, adjoining?

We are booked for a Grand Gathering, 2 rooms standard view. We have 5 people in one room (2 adults, 3 kids) and then 4 in another (3 adults, one teen) so 9 total.

I'd love to request the following in our ressie but have no idea if it is even possible!

Ideally we would want adjoining rooms, queen beds + daybed, and quiet pool or courtyard view.

Does such a scenario exist?

We are trying the YC after being at the cabins which was squished with 6 due to the double beds. Our other alternative is BLT 2 bedroom and I'm trying to decide what to do! I've ruled out the treehouses and AKV being too remote. BCV 2 bedroom, even if I could get it, only sleeps 8.

Thanks!

What great customer service! I sure hope the blanket gets returned.

We just returned from an 11 day stay at BCV, from the time we pulled up to the valet until the time we pulled away was an exceptional stay. Our room was ready by 12 and our luggage was there 30 minutes later. Every employee at the Beach Club was great! The pool, the activities, the campfire, movies on the beach, the arcade, character breakfast at Cape May, I could go on and on. I can't believe it went so fast and we are home, already trying to finagle my next trip :):thumbsup2

Thanks for the advice, we will be using that for sure!!

Besides the hot drinks what type of cold drinks do they sell? We'll have refillable mugs but sometimes want juice and/or milk and pay OOP for them..do they offer juice or milk for purchase? and I'm assuming the coffee can go in the refillable mugs and the specialty coffees are for purchase???

Thanks!!!

I'm leaving this Thursday for a quick stay at the Beach Club! I haven't had a chance to go through the entire thread but can adults go on the slide at SAB? Will I look weird if I do?

Adult slide - my husband went down the SAB slide (he's close to 6 foot and average weight ). Said it was ok but he preferred the BWI slide hands down. So yes you can go down but maybe adults don't go as fast as kids? He wasn't all that impressed with it...

Maybe so, but you'll only look as weird as the many other adults who are also going down the slide  Seriously, I was there for the past 2 weeks, and saw LOTS of adults going down the slide. They don't do it as often as the kids, though...maybe b/c of all the steps you have to climb to get up to it.

Also, just wanted to let everybody know...the "new" lounge on the 5th floor of the BC opened Friday and looks really nice (sorry, I didn't get to take pics), and they also put new mattresses on the beds on Friday (at least on the 5th floor)...they seem pretty firm, but I was so tired by the time I hit the bed Friday night, I could have slept on a bed of nails :faint:

Thank you so much for your advice. Should I just call the main reservation number with my request or the concierge number? CL will be a new experierce for me as well; so I am not sure:confused:

Glad to lounge is open. we arrive next friday and was wondering if it was finished yet.

That's so wonderful!! We did a split-stay in August POR/BC. My youngest also lost his beloved blankie in the sheets, (at POR), in our rush to get out the door on our transfer day. We've been trying very hard to get it back but sure would've loved someone to go out of their way like that for us. When we finally spoke to a manager at POR, he seemed to truly understand how important this was to our little guy but this was many days into the search. To date, we still don't have it back. :sad1: Hope you have better luck. I know how important those trusty blankies are. At least, you felt like someone went above and beyond to try and that's all we can really ask. Good Luck!! pixiedust:

Just curious if the rooms have all been refurbished at the Yacht Club.

Also, if not, do you know if the 5th floor concierge rooms are refurbished?

Staying there Nov 14-22nd so was just curious. And if so, any photos?

We just returned from the 5th floor, and yes, the rooms are all done. The lounge is now finished as well. They were in the process of putting in the new mattresses while we were there, in fact we had to wait a bit for our room as they were putting the new ones in our room. I was a bit surprised to see the mattresses were being done after the refurbs were "finished" but it was way cool to be the 1st people to sleep in the bed!

I'll try and get a full report up tomorrow.

TeenaS - It was great to meet you in person! We made it home in one piece...

I think all your assumptions are correct. They have OJ, milk (and cereal boxes), coffee and specialty coffees for purchase.

It is quite a small venue - a counter and a few seats.

In the evening, they put in a couple of bar stools and serve cocktails. Pretty cool!

Custom Cakes at YC???

I've been trying to come up with an idea to add some xmas cheer to our stay in Dec. I thought of a custom cake since I've been glued to the thread but we are not eating at any GF resort restaurant, CM's is booked, and we have crystal palace booked but might not keep it. We've gotten a cake at WL before but it was standard.

I'm looking for a cake that you can screen/scan a picture of Xmas mickey and minnie & friends on the cake with some frosting, etc. Would YC be able to do something like that and deliver it to the room?? We're only staying for one night but I thought it would be a nice surprise!!

Thanks!!
