The 1980's.... that fashion is becoming popular again, it seems.

I remember those jeans :rotfl: :rotfl: . Do you remember those brown loafer kinda shoes that used to have the laces twirled. I don't know if I'm explaining just right. Maybe someone can help.

We called them Docksiders.

I was preppy in the 80's. I wore my shirttails hanging down below my oversized sweaters. And I loved to wear a loose, thin men's tie with my open-ncked oxford buttondowns. I loved that look!

Anyone remember surfer jams - those big baggy surfer shorts?

My tag will fit right in :lmao: I just cant take another perm... those took hours.

Just dont bring back the MC Hammer pants

I'm really excited. I loved a lot of the styles in the 80s (class of '84 here). My hair only ever managed to be semi-big, but it was definitely crunchy! Loved the leggings with the boots with the big belted shirts!

I couldn't wear stirrups though because I'm tall and they never fit right.

2 words...HyperColor!

My kids would think those are the coolest things ever!!!

I had permed hair from the late 1980's until about 2-3 years ago. I would get it every 6 months, then switched to a body wave which would last about 1 year before I had to get another one. Reason for the perm? My hair is baby fine and naturally wavy. With long hair at the time, it had to be permed. No other way around it.

Now MC Hammer pants...I thought that was early 90's :confused3

Class of 90 here. DH is Class of 88.

Yep, I have a picture of me in my jams at age 15 wearing a harvard tee-shirt. Boy I had such plans for myself back then!

I know a lot of the stuff we consider 80s was also early 90s....for instance, I remember wearing stirrup pants and tunics in the early 90s (I cringe to admit it, but I LOVED stirrup pants  ).

Are you talking about the ones with black soles or white soles? The black ones were Sebagos. I loved those shoes!!!

OMG, I love the 80's. I didn't do the big Aqua net hair ok, not really big hair, but I dated some guys who did, the times of the glam bands. My exdh came over not too long ago with a neon green shirt, I told him the 80's called and wanted it's shirt back. I remember wearing cross earrings and my dgm thought I had finally "seen the light" but it was me trying to somewhat look like Madonna. I even watched Desperately Seeking Susan" yesterday.
Ahh, the 80's the mustang 5.0 with t-tops that some guys I knew drove. The camaro berlinetta, trans-am.
The net shirts that guys used to wear, NOT!
I wore stirrup pants, but not the floral jeans, my friend did then asked me what I thought of them, I told her and she got mad. Banana clips, leg warmers, yea I did them.
Sara Jessica Parker in Square Pegs and I had Johnny SLash glasses.

Shoulder pads always come back because they are flattering, but the trick is to keep the size within reason and the shape relatively natural. When you do them right you just balance out your hips to give an hourglass illusion, not make yourself look like a linebacker.

I long ago decided that I'm not going to follow any trend that doesn't flatter my figure; I gave that up before I finished high school (which was in the
1970's, which I hated the first time around.) Personally I'll take the 1940's over the 1980's any day, minus the sausage-rolled hair. Those were some *flattering* clothes for grown women.

I was listening to talk radio today when the host introduced some fashion "expert".... I didn't know her name. She went on to say that many of the fashion trends of the 80's are starting to make a comeback....

1. Colored Denim

2. Big Hair

3. She even said that she has seen a few sets of those lacy leggings recently....

I sure hope so! I kind of liked that look on a lot of women... :thumbsup2
I just returned from the United Kingdom and I saw lots of colored denim and lacy leggings. No big hair though.

Dangit... Couldn't get even ONE of you ladies to "bite"? ;) :rotfl2:

Here -- circa '84/'85 -- rained out Springsteen concert. Ssssh, don't tell my parents I was drinking and smoking:

I forgot my floral jeans. They were adorable! I used to wear them with a pink-and-white striped shirt that had snaps instead of buttons...I rolled the sleeves up to my elbows and thought I looked SO cute. :cool2:

Desperately Seeking Susan was one of my favorite movies--I need to see it again soon! Madonna plays herself SO well in that movie...I guess that's what made her think she could act...NOT, but she does a great job reinventing herself as a singer every few years.
