Elevators?? Oh gosh this is great news!! Thanks so much. We stayed 3rd floor OKW last time and DH was not happy lugging all the suitcases up 3 flights of stairs.
Yes, each building has one elevator ... only one (well, there are 2, but they are right next to each other in the same one location). It might be very inconveniently placed for your needs. For example, let's say you have a room in the front of Building 2 (pointing towards the gift shop, front lobby, etc.). You'd have to walk the entire length of Building 2 (just about the whole length of the pool area) to get to the elevator, and then the same length back to your room.

Just an FYI.

We have stayed at the POP before, but I convinced DH POFQ would be a great idea. I can't wait.

We had a hike at BWI last year, great room but it took us forever to get to the elevators and that's a deluxe!:upsidedow

Disclaimer - I notice weird stuff... ;)

If anyone happens to get room 1244 (We were just there from 2/17 - 2/24), sit on the toilet and look down at the tile on the floor. There is a black "border" tile design in the floor. There is a white tile in the pattern where a black tile should be. All of the rest of the tile in the room was fine, except for that one.

But anyways, the hotel was fine. But we were pretty mad that the pool was closed for renovation when we go there. We had no idea.

Well, I won't tell you about the faces I see in the pattern on my home bathroom floor. People think I'm nuts. But I do want you to know that I noticed this exact same thing (white tile where a black tile should be) in our room at POFQ, but it was in building 5, second floor. Maybe this anomaly is in all the bathrooms?

I know kids over 18 are considered an adult.

So when we start our stay at POFQ. DS will be 17, then 5 days into our WDW vacation, DS will turn 18.

It costs an extra $15 (I think) for a third adult in a room.

Would we be charged every night the extra $15 or just for the nights my DS is 18 (rate change) or will they not charge us at all ?

Thanks !

I think since he starts as a child, they won't change anything if the birthday is during the stay.

Correct.

Across the board, WDW calculates age as the age of the person at the beginning of the stay. So since he is starting his WDW vacation as a child, he will end that vacation as a child in the eyes of Disney.

Of course, he'll always be your baby ....

Ok, so now I am intrigued and I will have to look at our bathroom floor when we get there in Dec.

I know that there is a playground somewhere near the swimming pool area. Does anyone have any pictures? I checked the allears site and couldn't find any and don't have a lot of time right now to go back through all the threads. Thanks in advance! :)

I never saw a playground while we were there, so I looked up some aerial maps online. Lo and behold, there is one. So then I did an image search for POFQ playground and found some pictures. I don't know what the rules are here, but I don't think I can send you links. But it only took me a few seconds to come up with some pics. Try it!

With all that Disney can do, you would think they could figure out a way so there were "no bad views", "no parking lot views"... Rooms are expensive at Disney; everyone should be able to have a decent view. We actually spend more than half of our time hanging out at the resort. I want a decent view. I am willing to pay more for a decent view but even when I have paid more it has not always worked out. At AKL (in 2004), our Savanna view ended up with us having a great view of our neighbor's room (we were on an inside corner). We could barely see any animals unless we leaned over the balcony.

Now we have a dilemma for our upcoming trip next Dec (early Dec), we are staying at POFQ and would like a decent view, courtyard would be nice or the “river” but we do not want a pool view (or worst yet, a parking lot view). And yet, if we request a water view, we may end up with a pool view and if we request standard we may end up with a parking lot view. Any advice??? Should I reserve standard and make a “special request” asking for courtyard? Should I reserve a preferred view and state that I do not want a pool view?

DH & I booked a water view and made a request for "quiet location w/river view". We're going in early Dec--guess we'll see what happens then!!

As I'm sure you know, a request is just a request and not a guarantee ... so make sure you can live with whatever comes. For example, it's simply not possible to guarantee that your water view isn't a pool view.

I also want to make sure you are familiar with how the Moderate resorts are set up. They are built in the style of motels, meaning that your door and window open up onto an exterior corridor. If you have your curtains wide open to take in the view, then everyone walking by has a great view of YOU. It's not like you have a 'private" window, if you know what I mean. I don't know if this impacts your decision here, but I wanted to make sure you understood the physical set up.

Well, I finally read this entire thread, took me over a week bit I did it. I'm really excited about staying at POFQ and want to thank all who regularly post here for providing us with all the great info!!:thumbsup2

How do you request certain buildings.

Basically, you just ask for the building you prefer but they can't guarantee anything. If you can, also call POFQ directly as close to your ressie as possible and ask to speak to the person responsible for room assignations.

Thanks for the link, I am going to POFQ for the first time in April ( 16 - 21 ).I just looked at the pics and it really seems nice, great post!!!!
