Our beds were fine...small, but fine. Not super comfy, but not uncomfortable. Of course we were exhausted every night, so almost anything would have been fine with us!

We had a king bed and the mattress was great. The pillows were wonderful too. Enjoy your trip.

A parking lot view wouldn't completely bum me out if that's all they had left. It's not like cars are sitting right outside your window like at a Days Inn or something. When I made the reservations, she asked if I preferred a specific view like courtyard or garden and I chose garden at the time. Now I'm thinking I should have asked for a specific building that had a standard room IF available.

Thank you for the buildings. I'll call and change my request to a specific building and see where that takes us.

No, I didn't want to pay for a water view because I wanted more money to spend on food. It's $135.00 bucks towards a nice sit down meal. Another reason we didn't book at the WL, was spending money for food and souvies.

My last visit I requested building 3 with a view of the fountain, not a water view. Buildings 1 and 2 have this view too. Only problem was to get view of the fountain you have to be on the ground floor, which I don't do. I prefer the top floor. There are some great views of the grounds that do not have a view of the river.

1.) We (actually DD11) would like to request a room close to the pool, I believe that would be building 2 or 5. We booked a standard room and are not real concerned about the view, we just want to be close to the pool if possible. What is the best way to request a building? Should we just call POFQ direct, and if so, when is the best time to do this? We are booked for the week of Thanksgiving 08 so we have plenty of time, just wondering if we should wait until a week or so before we go to make a building request, or do it now ... and should we call or send an email or what?

2.) We will be arriving late on our first night ... anybody have any experience with late arrival/check in? Depending on when we can get ready, traffic through/around Atlanta, etc. .... we could be there anywhere from 8:00 PM to 12:00 midnight (maybe later, hopefully not, but possible). Are we going to get a crappy room in the worst possible location? or should we maybe call on our way down around normal check in time (3:00 - 4:00) and let them know that we will be arriving late, would that help?

Thanks in advance for any insight/thoughts on either of these questions.

When you call Central Reservations, give them all your room requests and tell them you will be arriving late. Then call and confirm with CR about 1 month and a week before your arrival ( normally I would say just call once but where you are going during a busy time better safe then sorry)

As far as being too far from the pool one of my favorite things about this resort is its compact size you will not be far from anything.

We checked in at 11:30pm and got the most awesome location.
Building 5 facing Reveler's Row. 1st floor. Just steps to the Hot Tub and Pool. Rooms are set back from the walk way a bit so don't worry about noise. This location was also closest to the food court.
We didn't have any problems with the beds or housekeeping. Thought they were great.
Have a GREAT trip!!!

I would have it added to my ressie. I also fax my request to the room assigner.

thanks all! I'll call central reservations and add that we will be arriving late and would like a room close to the pool area.

How (what fax number) would I fax my room request? .... can I email as well? or should I just call now and again 2 or 3 weeks before to double check that they got the room requests/late check in? I'll probably call again on our drive down on check in day just to 100% sure.

Thanks KSBelle! We would be thrilled with a room like that ... no worries about noise for us, we stay up pretty late anyway (DD11 will be DD12 by then), so no biggie there, and don't really have problems with noise sleeping anyway ... especially in disney, by the time we finally go to bed we are asleep within minutes, we "run" long and hard at disney when we go. We usually go about twice per year, usually for 3 to 5 days since we always take a 7 day Disney Cruise each year as well. So, we usually don't have a full week like many guests have, we pack in as much as we can in a short period of time. We are lucky to be just close enough to drive to Disney (and port canaveral) .... we live just north of Atlanta ... takes us about 7 hours to get to Disney and about 8 to get to Port Canaveral (that is if we time it correctly and get through Atlanta during off rush hour times). If you live in or near Atlanta, you time everything for off rush hour times!

Anyway, this will be our first stay at POFQ and we are really excited! We stay "onsite" most of the time now, but we also have stayed off site on many occasions as well. The more we go, the more we enjoy staying onsite, just to maintain that disney magic that just closes out the outside world! Staying offsite just is not the same!!

One more question ... since we will be arriving late on our first day and we have purchased DDP (first time we have tried this as well) ... we have plenty of places we want to try, but just wondering what your recomendations would be? As far as I can tell there are no table service restaurants at POFQ, but we thought we might try Boatwright's Dining Hall at POR ... what are your thoughts, and how long of a walk would it be. Maybe we will do the horse and buggy (or whatever it is called) over to POR to make it a special night. Your thoughts?

Also, since there is a shuttle boat over to Downtown Disney, we will likely do a table service there as well.

For thanksgiving day we are going to TRY to get an ADR for Liberty Tree Tavern.

We will also have an extra Table Service, Counter Service and snack since we will not be arriving until very late on our check in day ... we are considering maybe doing a "signature Dining" for one of the nights, my understanding is that at Signature Dining you need to use 2 table service tickets ... what are your thoughts on maybe doing a Signature dining experience for Thanksgiving Dinner? ... your suggestions on that would be appreciated as well.

Boatwrights is Table Service and we heard good reports about them. We peeked in one evening and it was crowded. It is no more than a ten minute walk from POFQ, nice stroll along the water.

We ate at Cap'n Jacks at DTD (took the boat from POFQ) and had an excellent meal. I've read many negatives about them but our meal was amazing there. I'd recommend them for dinner.

I've eaten at Boatwrights for dinner, and I'd use my TS other places, our food was cold. The ADR for LTT for Tday sounds great. As far as 2 credit TS's either CG or Jiko's. You can save the snacks and use them for gifts for the kid's friends. ;)

What has everybody's experience been as far as noise goes? Especially in regards to what floor you are on? Is the first floor noisy? Is one floor better than the other?

We were on the second floor, corner room, right next to the stairs in Building 5 -- probably one of the closest rooms you could get to dining. Only one evening did we here people outside our room. In spite of being next to the stairs, our room was very quiet. No complaints at all about noise from other people.

I always stay on the top floor. I've heard horror stories about what can slither or creep into your room on the ground floor.

We were on the first floor of building 3, steps away from the main building. The noise wasn't that bad...people walking past the room would sometimes be having conversations, or people would pull their luggage, but nothing too loud. I didn't hear anyone above me (thankfully). I did hear plumbing in nearby rooms, but I must have tuned it out after the first night. And nothing slithered or creeped in...again, thankfully!!!

We just got back a week ago and we had the "pleasure" of staying in two different rooms at the POFQ this time. This was because we had asked for a connecting room and did not get it, but by the next day they had one for us. The first night was fine accept that we were there during the marathon. We heard the bull horn summoning everyone at 5am on the Sunday morning from the parking lot. As we were facing the parking lot ( in building seven) there was nothing we could do. The noise was always heard quite a bit from the parking lot during the day and the busses etc on the road.

We were moved to building two, facing the courtyard on the third floor. We were right beside the stairs, but noise was not an issue at all. Now, mousekeeping, on the other hand, is another issue......

I love the French Quarter and would stay there again. However, I would be ready to complain to management on day one if needed. They do listen and they do take action, when it is required.

2317? Just down from the elevator? I stayed there last year.

So, last time we stayed here I didn't request anything ( Dad got the room) and we had the corner room in Bldg 3 1st floor, all the way at the end which was great for us. we drove in and there is a car turn abround right there at the end which made getting luggage loaded a breeze. the walk was not bad to the busses, just a little bit of a pain going to the FC and back in the am.
my siggy photo is from in front of the room.

I'd like to be closer, we'll not have a car this time and I am thinking bldg 4 or 5. has anyone stayed in 4?
it sounds like building 5 is the most requested one. Does it have Std rooms? and is there a difference betwen Garden and Std view?

Just home from our vacation. We were at POFQ 2 weeks ago. We LOVED the FQ. I must say though....mousekeeping was NOT up to WDW standards. We checked in and went to our room. It was unmaid and no mousekeeping was anywhere around. I called the front desk and they offered to move us but we had such a difficult time getting a room near our friends that we decided not to move. (The room assigner had dropped the ball on this also since it was noted on our reservations that we were traveling together). Later in the trip we had 2 bags left outside our door. One was trash, the other used linens. When we got back to our room late that night (hours later) the bags were still there. We had to call the front desk to get them removed. The room was satisfactory but not spotless by any means. The bus service did go to POR on most days. Everything else about the POFQ we enjoyed. The size of the resort is wonderful, the boat service to DD is great. The resort was nice and quiet. We will return, but if mousekeeping isn't up to par again we may be looking for a different resort in the future.

In terms of your reservation, there is no difference between a standard view and garden view. The only categories for reservations are water view, king-size bed and ... for lack of better wording ... "none of the above." Once you get to the resort, they have in THEIR computer system whether a room is a garden view or courtyard view or parking lot view or whatever (I don't know all the categories). But like I said, at time of making the reservation, Central Reservations can certainly note your request for garden view or whatever, but it goes into the Central Reservations system as a standard room.

Roughly half of the rooms in Building 5 are water view rooms, which cost more than standard rooms (Central Reservations can't make any distinction between a view of the pool and a view of the river, but again that can be noted as a request). So if half are water view, then about half are not.

Rooms with king-size beds (which also cost more than standard rooms) are sprinkled throughout the resort, and are not confined to a certain type of room, type of view, or geographic location.
