Is up and running at POFQ!!!! I called yesterda (9/21/05) and spoke with a CM. She said that it is 9.95 for 24 contiguous hours.
:goodvibes

Getting excited about our stay at POFQ...which is still a LOOONNNGGG 8 months away!

Do the boats to DTD only run after 4:00pm? If I want to have lunch there do is my only choice the bus? :confused3

BTW, I'm going in June...peak season.

Hi ... Our family has previously stayed at POR when it was Dixie Landings and CSR. I looooved POR, with all the lush foliage, etc. We had walked over to POFQ one day and it just looked to me like all sidewalks and buildings ... and also it was practically deserted! We're now planning another WDW trip for next March, and even though I'd love to go back to POR, the others want something different. We were originally going with CBR, but it reminds us too much of the beachy part of CSR we stayed at last time, and also I don't want all that walking again. So ... that leaves POFQ. My kids are 14 and 16; will they be too "old" for the pool? Do you think we'll be happy with POFQ?
Please convince me!

beautiful pic in your signature!

so, when's your next trip to pofq? we're going back in january and are torn between pofq or saving a few bucks and staying at pop century... we liked both (okay, LOVED both!) and if it will be too cold to swim, we figure we might as well stay at pop... but then again, pofq is sooooooo beautiful and we did love it and and and... oh, i hate decisions like this! LOL!
Hi gigi! Well.. since you're going during January... then it is a must that you have to stay at POFQ! The pool is nicely "heated" during summer... so what more during winter! (The pool here is bath water temp in the summer, so you never ever have to slowly dip in, you can just jump right in without getting any shivers) I can imagine what the pool would be like during winter. And if it's still to cold for you guys to swim, then there's your hot tub.

For my family, I can't do POP during winter, cause they don't have hot tub. The kids will swim regardless of the water temp and the temp outside. But as far me, if they can have their fun... I want my fun too in the hot tub! Even for only 10-15 minutes at a time, then get out for a little bit, then head back in, to me that's relaxing, after a long day in the park or even if it wasn't a long day, just to feel that strong water hitting up against my shoulders and my back feels good. Anyways... whichever you choose... you will have a fabulous time!

I'm not sure when I'll be back at POFQ... hopefully soon! :)

They also run during the morning because the stores and restuarants open at 10am or 9am. The last pick up is at 11pm from the DTD and the boat will stop running at 11:30pm. We ended up taking the bus on the way back cause we didn't make the 11pm at the dock.

Perfect!! If you love POR and your family wants to try something new... well... POFQ is the best bet for you and your whole family! POR and POFQ are sister resorts. If you ever feel "home" sick... just take the boat to POR or stroll down along the river to POR. You can use POR's ammenities. Rent a boat, surrey bikes or individual bikes, go swimming, walk around the grounds, have lunch/dinner there, shop at their store or just sit around the lobby. Don't forget to bring your refill mugs to take to POR! Enjoy your stay at POFQ!!

Next summer I will be at VWL with points. Due to the cost of points weekends I will stay in a moderate for about 3 nights and I'm thinking of POFQ or POR. I stayed in Port Orleans before they merged and liked it a lot. What are the mansions? It seems most recommend the Bayou buildings. What are these buildings and which is more laid back?

If you're asking about POR, I'm sorry I can't help you with that because I never actually stayed there in the room, but have used their ammenities when I stayed at POFQ. Perhaps someone else can answer that question for you. If not, you are welcome to go to POR FAQ.

Thanks, Fantasia. Your posts are the main reason for us trying POFQ. By the way, you're gorgeous ... and so are your kids!

be there again in april God willing :cool1:

This is why I am confused. Isn't it the same resort now?
No it is definitely NOT the same resort. POR is the Riverside resort.. and POFQ is the French Quarter resort. They are sister resort... but in now way are one resort.

They have their own check in lobby. If you call book Port Orleans... they will ask you which resort? So you're either staying at the Riverside or French Quarter. It's one or the other. But since they are sister resort, you are welcome to use both ammenities... however as far as the room goes... it's either you're sleeping in the POR OR the POFQ.

Think of the Clubs resorts... it's either you are staying at the Beach Club or the Yatch Club. They have their own check in lobby.. if you book a room... you need to specify if you want the Beach or the Yatch...

If you want to know more about POR... there's a POR FAQ thread. I am sure your questions will be answered. Or someone can answer them here for you.

17 days to go till we are there!!! Getting really excited after reading this thread..... Just me and my wife for our 27th aniversary. I'm now thinking about requesting a king corner on 2cnd or 3rd floor. Don't really care which building as long as it's non-smoking.

Thanks for all the great tips everyone, keep them coming.

Well you guys have definitely helped me make up my mind as to where we will stay in 2007! I had always liked Port Orleans and then when it merged with Dixie Landings, I thought it would just be too hard to decide whether to go with POFQ or Riverside, so we stayed at POP on our last trip. But we'll definitely be staying at POFQ next time! Thanks for the great info and pics - keep them coming!

We'll be staying at POFQ in January- my husband wants to know what time the bike rentals open in the morning. His hope is that it's early enough that he could go out for an early AM bike ride before going to the parks a couple of days.

Any ideas? Ballpark guess is fine. He's a biking nut (4,000+ so far this year :rotfl2: :confused3 ) and I can't imagine him going over a week without riding, LOL.

When in January are you going? Hubby and I will be there Jan. 15-22.

OK, yesterday, after reading some of these posts, I thought my mind was made up to stay at POFQ for our next trip. Now I see a new post and responses that these teenagers did not like POFQ. My kids will be 15 and 5. I know we will take at least one full day to spend at the resort. We have only stayed at values prior to this. I thought with the marina, bike rentals, etc. right there that it would be much better for a teenager.

How do your teenagers feel about POFQ?
