That's it, moved to FL to be closer to Mickey! Update 2/4 Kidnapped at WDW 10/03/09

Glad your back Irky416. Thanks for the compliment on my pin display. Now I need more pins.:cool1:

I can't wait to see the pirate rooms also. Heard they will be availabe in January, hopefully someone will get pics before then. Been good so far and haven't mentioned it to Jacob.

His B-Day is in a couple of weeks and we have been trying to figure out what to do. He is having a hard time making friends and have done a party where only two kids showed up out of 11 invited, so I hate to do the party thing, but JS called and he saw a commercial for The Pirate Adventure Dinner Theatre there in Orlando, so I think we are going to take him to that. I think he will really enjoy it. Now I think we are turning into pirates.pirate:

Sorry to hear Jacob's having a hard time. What grade is he in again? 5th?

That sounds fun. Be sure to post pics!

No, he's in 4th. Thank goodness. I have two years to prepare for him to be in middle school. If elementary is this hard, I can only imagine middle school. Can't get him to turn in his homework now.

I sure will post pics. Trying to work on the hubby to buy me a new camera for Christmas. Of course the one I want is $800.:scared1: Oh, and then you need all of the extras.

Oh, I have to tell everyone about my experience at JoAnn Fabrics (if you don't know it is like Michael's, AC Moore, and Hobby Lobby) yesterday. So I have finally started to try scrapbooking. Got all ready and realized no adhesive.:rolleyes1 So, JoAnn was having a big sale on paper etc (excpet the Disney paper which is expensive) so I picked out a lot, got my glue and went to checkout. The lady checking me out was very nice and I noticed she had this ring on. I now realize it wasn't real, but it was a MH ring, had 3 stones in it. I asked if it was a MH and she showed me she actually had about 4 MH rings on and a Mickey pin with him dressed as a bat. I thought that was too cool. I wish I asked her if she was a member of the Dis. I'm sure I will see her again.

Hope everyone is having a great week! I know Di and Grumpy are since they will be arriving at WDW this Friday!!!!:yay:

Hi Melissa,
Just popped in to say 'cheerio'....we're off tomorrow!!!!! WDW here we come! :cool1: :cool1:
If you are in MK on Sat I hope to see you!
Di x

So this is our last weekend without JS. He will be home on Tuesday! I was wanting to go to MK before they took down all of the Halloween decorations since I didn't get to see that many during MNSSHP. I was too busy riding rides, watching parades and fireworks to notice a lot of the decorations. Plus, JS seems to go to the parks more commando, where I want to stop and take pics. Yes, I am one of those people stopping in front of you to take a pic.

I also hoped to see Dr_Finkelstein (Di and Grumpy, and Thing 1 & 2) since they were to be there. I won't keep you in suspense, I didn't see them anywhere.:sad2:

So, finally get Jacob up and willing to move. Had to wait for Bakugan to finish on Cartoon Network.:headache: I still can't believe this kid is mine. So we get on the road and get to TTC a little after 1:00pm. Hop on the monorail, along with several other hundred people. Ok, maybe not that many, but it seemed like it. This had me worried as to how busy the park would be. Got this pic from the ride over:
CastlefromMonorail.jpg

Get to MK about 1:30pm and off we go. Now for some reason, everyone was going to the bag check on the left. There were 2 security guards just standing around on the right, so we went right.:cool1: Made it through the gate and look what I saw:

The halloween/fall decorations were still up!:yay: I was so excited. Here are some more pics:

Jacob is on a mission. He wants to do Astrorbitor, Buzz Lightyear, HM, and the fort at Tom Sawyer Island and head home. That is it. I tell you, the kid can't belong to me. So, he is glad when I finally get off of Main Street and stop taking pics. The line for BL only had a 20 minute wait, but I told Jacob we should get FP's since they would be for 2:20, we could go ride Astrorbitor and then hope on Buzz. After a little more discussion he agreed.

Astrorbiter.jpg

Here is the Contemporary from the Astrorbitor (am I spelling that correctly?)
ContemporaryfromAstrorbitor.jpg

Now, before we rode the Astro, there was this pigeon up there with us, but he eventually decided not to ride:

PigeonatAstrorbitor.jpg

Get off of Astro and we still had about 5 minutes before it was time for our FP's, so I talked Jacob into the TTA, because I wanted to take pics and there was no line:

Well, that is all the room I have for pics, so will have to continue in another post.

So after TTA, we headed over to Buzz and with the FP's walked right on. Last time we were at MK even with the FP's there was a wait.

Here are our scores:

Before we rode, we noticed the wait time in the standby line was 10 minutes, so I told Jacob we could ride again, so we did:

Oh, and when I first took Jacob's, this is what I got:

Only I would manage to take the picture as the score is blinking and not get the score.:confused3

We were having so much fun, we did it again. Rode BL 3 times in thirty minutes:

So, we finally left BL and went on our way. There wasn't a line for the laugh floor, so talked Jacob into this:
LaughFloor.jpg

Roz.jpg

This was one of those where I stopped suddenly to take a pic and the poor people behind me almost ran over me.

LaughFloorStarts.jpg

Jacob so wants to be on the screen for this. The show was only half full and I started to move up, but some people sat beside us, so I thought that would be rude. Guess what, they ended up on the screen. Poor Jacob kept trying to lean into the shot. I kept having to tell him to stop. We had a good time though. We noticed very few were going into Stitch. So, when is WDW going to do something else with this ride. I asked Jacob if he wanted to ride but he said no and wondered why it was different than the video WDW sent us. It did look much better in the vacation planning video.

Finally, off to HM, but not before more pics:

Castle-1.jpg

Fantasyland.jpg

This seemed really crowded to me. As we walked through I noticed IASW had a 20 minute wait, didn't notice any of the others.

Fantasyland2.jpg

Got to HM and it was a 10 minute wait. Didn't seem that long though, line wasn't around the horse drawn carriage yet.

Now, one of my halloween decorations is a tombstone I ordered from Disneyshopping.com and every time we go on the HM I can never remember what mine says. But since we just had it out, I finally remembered it was this one:
Tombstone.jpg

Mine also has a glowing hitchhiking ghost on it.

And I finally got a picture of the one with its eyes open, sorry it is blurry.
Tombstonewitheyesopen.jpg

Now, I have never tried to take a picture of the changing artwork in the main gallery at HM, but they came out ok:
ArtworkfromHM.jpg

Made it through HM without any stops.:yay:

Then it was off to TSI:

Jacobfiringcanon.jpg

We ended up doing more than just the fort. Once Jacob got over there he wanted to explore some more. While walking around, I saw these bushes, don't know what they are, but loved the color of the berries:
PlantsonTSI.jpg

Got back to the mainland and I had to get a Pineapple Dole Whip Float. It's my new thing. Go to MK, must get float. Just as we get there it starts pouring. I have to push through the people seeking shelter so I can get my float, but I finally had it. I keep meaning to take a picture of these things, but always start eating it before I even think of it.

I was wanting to buy some pins, but Jacob was in a rush. We walked through the stores to get out of the rain. Saw a scrapbooking kit, but someone else was looking at also and she already had the only one still sealed, so I figure I will look at it later. Hey, I can always go back. So we head back to the monorail, which is packed. Finally get on and look back, now there was no one in line for it. Get stopped by the Polynesian and this poor family is trying to get through 2 year old through her tantrum. They were talking about how calm my Jacob was. I told them we went through that and the only reason he was calm at the moment was because he was getting to go home. The boy likes to be home with all of his stuff. Drove home through the rain, saw one car had run off of I4. Detoured to get me some Zaxby's, my favorite chicken place, and then headed home again. Rain started to really come down and I could barely see the road. Plus, haven't driven these roads in the rain so I was worried I would end up some place I shouldn't be. Saw another wreck and then, just right up the rode from my house, yet another person had run off the road.

But we made it home safely.

Hope everyone had a fantastic Halloween and weekend. Next MTR will be this weekend. We are going to the Food and Wine Festival to see Night Ranger. NR was my very first concert. I love Jack Blades (the lead singer). It has only been 24 years since I saw him last. I am soooo old!

Wow! You took a ton of pictures! I love all the decorations. I hope I can see them in person sometime.

You guys scored so much better the second time on BL. I am terrible at BL, but I still think it's fun.

I'm glad you were able to drag Jacob along with you and you made it home safely. Have fun at the F&WF. I can't wait to read all about it!

Oh, and I happen to have a map sitting on the table next to me (much to the annoyance of DBF that Disney maps are still sitting around for my TR when we got home 4 months ago!) and it is spelled Astro Orbiter.

Sounds like a fun day.
Great pictures.

Glad the Halloween decorations were still up!
Sad you did not see Di and Grumpy and kids. :sad2:

I like the way you talked Jacob into a few more rides.

I guess I am old too. :lmao:
I wish they had been playing at F&W when we were there.
Have a great time at the concert!!! :yay:

I didn't even post all the pics I took. That whole 25 rule was in my way! Thanks for the spelling. I had looked up the name of TTA, but was too lazy to go back and look up Astro Orbiter. Don't know why I thought it was one word.:confused3 Jacob hit something one time and got like 500,000 points. Haven't been able to do that again. Wish I had thought to take pics back then.

Jacob isn't looking forward to Friday night. He doesn't like concerts (he has never been to one). Goofy kid. Plus, he will be missing an episode of Star Wars Clone Wars. We will record it though. I wish I had run into Di, Grumpy, and the kids, but I didn't want to try to set up a time to meet since it is their vacation and you never know what will happen around me.

Well, JS's flight was cancelled and now he will be getting in later. Trying to figure out if I should get Jacob out of school early, or just hope we get back over here in time. Have a couple of hours to decide.

Great pics! You sound like you are loving living so close to the Mouse - and who wouldn't???!!!!

The food and wine festival sounds great but have never been at that time.

Have you settled into your new house fine now? Does it feel like home yet?

Hi! Haven't heard from you in awhile. Yes, I have settled in the house. Poor JS was just getting comfortable when he had to leave for DC for 5 weeks. Funny you ask this now. Last night was his first night home and the bathroom in this new house is set up about the same as our old house except the water closet and clothes closet are switched. So he heads to the bathroom and ends up in the clothes closet, comes and tell me about it, goes back to do his business and goes in the clothes closet again.:lmao: I just laughed, but I had the same problem the first month or so that we moved in.:rotfl:

Jacob is getting use to it and the new school. Having some issues, but we will work through them.

Ooh, just saw the email that you had updated your TR, I have to go read it now!

sounds like you had a fun day at MK.

Hi everyone. We went to Epcot almost two weeks ago and I haven't posted. Also need to post about our trip to Egmont Island here in Florida. Beautiful area and then there is our night at Pirate Adventure Theatre in Orlando.

Jacob is now a 10 year old. I think he had a great birthday. Got a Nintendo DS (he wanted it for Christmas, but the Gameboy died a few weeks ago and he wouldn't survive without some sort of hand held game that long, change that, we wouldn't survive!)

I had to tell you what my darling JS said today. After telling me he is Disney'd out when I was telling him how I wanted to go explore all the parks for Christmas. :sad1: I was mentioning how I needed to register him for his birthday next year and he asked how it worked since we had AP's. So I told him we could get a gift certificate or a special fastpass. He replied, "All I would like is 20 minutes alone with Cinderella!!!" We were at the DMV and the lady in front of us obviously overheard because she laughed. See what I live with!

I apologize it has taken me so long to post this. Wow, was it really two weeks ago that I was there. I finally got all my pictures uploaded and ready to go:

So, JS took the day off on Friday, Nov 7 since he had been in DC for 5 weeks. So we were able to pick Jacob up from school at 2:15 and head straight to WDW. Oops, one problem, neither of us grabbed the camera. :rolleyes1 So, got Jacob in the truck, swung by the house, stopped for drinks (Cokes) and we were finally on our way.

When we first moved to Florida, I would drive 85-90 down I4 because everyone else did. A month or so ago they really started to go after speeders, so I have learned to slow down, but on this day everyone was flying and there were no cops.:cool1: So, we were in the park before 4:00. The parking lot looked really full so I was little worried.

Our first entertainment for the night was watching what looked like Grandma and Mom trying to get Daughter to car because she was too drunk to walk. The fact they weren't running for a CM made me realize it wasn't an emergency. Then this other couple was walking through the parking lot yelling at each other. JS and I both said it should be an entertaining night.

So we get in the park and of course JS won't allow me to stop to take pics, I got this one:

101_0070.jpg

Well, we all needed to take a little detour into the bathroom after our drive and those cokes, I apologize if that is too much info. Here are my boys waiting on me to come out:

101_0072.jpg

On the way to the bathroom we noticed there was no line for Spaceship Earth, so we rode it. It was a walkon. I was so excited.

101_0077.jpg

101_0083.jpg

After fighting my way to one of the computers to email our pics to ourselves (which we never got) we were on our way.

Jacob wanted to see if the Make A Robot booth was open and I reminded him that it was not coming back, but there was supposed to be a Build a Car booth in its place. I knew I hadn't heard of it opening on the Dis, but thought we could check. Well, not open yet, but Jacob tried to make some noise:
101_0085.jpg

I think the CM's in Innovations were bored because they were really persuading Jacob to play.

Then Jacob wanted to ride Mission: Space, which had about a 5 minute wait, so I sent the boys that way and I went to Mousegear, but first I grabbed FP's for Test Track. They were for 6:20, I thought that would be ok, didn't realize FP's could ruin a night, but more on that later. Look who was waiting for me at Mousegears:

101_0087.jpg

I was so excited to see Christams merchandise. My mission in Mousegears was the Scrapbook kit. I have finally started scrapbooking, ordered 200 pics from our trip in June to get started, but I hadn't wanted to start until I got this kit with all the paper. So I found my kit, then I found the MickeyHead emblem I want to put on my bumper, I think it will go on the dent I put in my bumper a few months back very nicely. Then I found a Christmas Tink pin that I want to send to Kara as a stocking stuffer. Then I just looked around until the boys came back.

I told JS about the FP's for Test Track and then thought we could do Ellen's Universe of Energy because JS had never done it. The doors were open so we went right in. Had a nice little ride. Well, we still had about 30 minutes until the FP time. I wasn't sure where the Night Ranger concert was, so I went to the information booth. The poor older gentleman CM was trying to help this lady and he didn't know the answer to her question. I finally got the younger CM who helped me right away, and then the older CM said I made the right choice in going to the younger guy because he knew it all. I just laughed. I also picked up the slip of paper showing the show times and boy was I glad I did. I had gotten the times for Night Ranger to perform off of a website which was completely incorrect. But we still have 20 minutes left until time for TT and we are trying to figure out what to do. Here is where everything goes down hill.

Now, JS thought we were going strictly for the Food and Wine Festival, and he was probably right in his thinking. I got there, saw the short lines and wanted to ride. So, JS is getting really mad at me. I asked him if he wanted to skip TT, but he never would answer me, so finally we go sit at TT waiting for our FP time and this is how JS looked:
101_0098.jpg

Not a happy fellow. So at this point we are basically yelling at each other. I remember this poor man just looking at us. So, with only 10 minutes before our FP time, we left. I saw a family of 3 and gave them the FP. Now, JS later said I got us stuck getting those FP's, which I informed him all he had to say was lets not do it and I would have done exactly what I ended up doing, giving them away.

Here is a pic waiting on the boat (took a lot more but they didn't come out), might as well take pics because JS wasn't speaking to me.
101_0106.jpg

We finally get across the lagoon and Night Ranger has just started. They were doing an acoustic show:

During the last song, they stood up and started to Rock:
101_0131.jpg

Sorry, I didn't get a good picture of the drummer, but he was there also. These are the only remaining members of the band. They played some songs that weren't even theirs, like Sweet Home Alabama, which I thought was funny because every concert we go to JS yells out for the band to play Freebird. He said Sweet Home Alabama is close enough. Yea, he was finally talking to me again. Music really does calm the beast. They also played, "Don't Tell Me you Love Me" and an ACDC song. We kept Jacob busy taking photos and he got really into it when they went to the electric guitars at the end of "Goodbye". I wish they had done more that way. We saw the middle session, so I wonder if they did different sets for each show.

Ok, don't know if I will get in trouble for this, but here are a couple of quick videos I did. I overheard the person next to me say, "She is recording them!", but I figured if I didn't do the whole song it wouldn't be a problem.

So after Night Ranger we headed over to Japan because Jacob wanted to check out their Bakugan selection. They didn't have what he wanted, but they did have a Pokeman tin, or maybe it was Yu Gi Oh, he wanted. So, after agreeing to get both rooms clean, I gave him the additional couple of bucks to purchase it. Rooms still aren't clean, and tin is sitting unopened on my kitchen counter.

Here was the whole problem with the night. Tried to get JS to make a decision, what food would he like etc. He wouldn't even look at the brochure, or the menus I had printed out before leaving. So we ended up going home and ordering Chinese. We were home by 9:30. That's really sad isn't it. Oh well, I got to see Night Ranger and that was my main reason for going.

I'll try to post our other adventures over the weekend.

Have a good one.
Melissa

Sorry to hear you guys had some trouble at Epcot last trip. It's so tempting to ride when the lines are so short!!

Did you start your scrapbook yet? You should definitely post pictures of your pages. I love to look at scrapbooks. I've tried making them, but I just don't have the attention span for it.

It is kind of funny though that you went to Epcot for the International F&WF and ended up going home to eat Chinese food! :rotfl:

When's your next trip?

That Chinese wasn't that good either. Tasted like it had sat for awhile.

Well, I have started one scrapbook, but it isn't on WDW. I did a few pages of a soccer one I am doing for Jacob's 6 seasons of soccer. They don't look professional, but I just want something to display the pics.

I have started working on the WDW one. I am doing it like a storybook, so I sat down and have little sentences describing what we did each day, I just need to type them and I will be on my way. Sure I will post a pic when I have a couple done.

Hopefully the weekend after Thanksgiving weekend I can go. Jacob said he wants to go to DTD, so guess we can start there. My parents will be here Christmas, they haven't said what they want to do yet, but I am hoping for WDW! Sounds like my step-dad wants to go because he asked if they are open that time of year.

So, it has been awhile since I posted things going on. We are getting ready for JS's mother and her boyfriend to come for the holiday. Looking forward to her seeing the house. She is looking forward to getting away from the boyfriend since he was laid off and has moved in with her. We will do a little shopping. She is too old and set in her ways to have someone move in with her. Her words, not mine.

My dryer wouldn't work and the washing machine. Dryer wasn't drying anything, and the washer to backing up down the wall into my kitchen. So, emailed the builder and who calls, the good-looking construction manager. He says he will be over in 20 minutes.:scared1: My house was a disaster because I sort of slacked off knowing I would be scrubbing away the next day. So, I pick up a little. He climbs on the roof and figures out the vent to the dryer is full. Now why in the world is the vent to the dryer on the roof.:confused3 Says he will call the plumber about the washer, after I argue that it isn't the washer, but the plumbing. I had to do this with the dryer also. He thinks I am just a silly housewife checking him I out, I'll show him. Oh, and my ice maker is not shooting out ice. So much for having a Whirlpool Gold fridge.

Now, what I really wanted to post today. I know, this is a WDW TR, but I have to show you a pic of the critters roaming the neighborhood today.

Herons.jpg

Herons2.jpg

Herons3.jpg

We normally only see 3 at a time, but today there were 10 of them. They started making all this noice so I went to check out what was going on, and had to get the camera. Tried to get a video of them calling out, but couldn't get it to work in time.

Now, the next story I don't have a picture yet. I wake JS up from his nap this evening and he points above my head behind me and says, "What's that?" I look up, realize what it is as it moves and scream and run out of the room. :scared1: It was a little lizard. Harmless I know, but he is in my bedroom. I am freaked out. Last time we saw him, he had made it to the floor and ran under our armoire while we were trying to catch him. I think tomorrow we will open the window and see if he goes out.

Just another day in the life of a Floridian!

First of all, lizards!!!! :scared1: In the house! :scared1: :scared1: In the bedroom! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

As for pins for trading - check out ebay - I get them for $2 each with no shipping. And I get them in 2 or 3 days. I got my last group, 30 pins and they were all traded by the end of our trip. It's so addictive! And Ally like to collect the sets - some are silly, some are cool. So Jeff and I have each gotten lanyards now and we trade too. It's a lot of fun.

We have pins that we do NOT trade, like one from each resort we've stayed at, special events like Pirate/Princess party, Flower/Garden Festival, etc. And each trip we let Ally get a pin for one attraction. So over time we'll collect a lot that way.

You're so lucky to only be an hour from the parks. We've only done one day trip = 2 1/2 hrs is okay, but it makes for a long drive at night. I would have loved to have caught food and wine festival though. But with the drive home, it would have been more food than wine, and well, that just takes the fun out of it! :rotfl2:

What kind of birds are those? Yikes...I think those would freak me out more than the lizard. Although, a lizard in my bedroom would certainly freak me out a lot! I can never sleep after I see a creature of some sort in my bedroom.

I think that is part of the reason why Food and Wine wasn't that appealing to me. We have a getaway planned for this weekend, but only going to the Marriott in downtown Tampa, paid for with points JS earned on his DC trip. I wanted to go to Epcot and drink around the world, but JS was afraid I would just want to ride rides. Which I think some of the rides would be fun a little tipsy. I just wanted to go so we could both drink and not worry about driving.

What kind of birds are those? Yikes...I think those would freak me out more than the lizard. Although, a lizard in my bedroom would certainly freak me out a lot! I can never sleep after I see a creature of some sort in my bedroom.

I believe the birds are Herons. Actually these are really cool birds. You hardly ever see them fly, but when you do they are not very graceful. I have to get a video of them calling out because it is the strangest sound. The first time we heard them, I thought someone's house alarm was going off and it was loud enough to wake up JS.

Lizard update: haven't seen him. Maybe he found his way out. That spider a few months ago still has me freaked out, so the lizard doesn't seem as bad.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving. I hope to update with our trip to Egemont Lighthouse soon. And hopefully a WDW trip a week. Maybe I will see Karajeboo there!
