...it has begun :D I know you all know what I'm talking about!

Anyone else get that feeling? And has it ever been true? What has been the funniest/worst/interesting thing you have forgotten to do or bring on your cruise?

This was on a cruise/extended vacation...we ran out of diapers!!! It was awful. The kid got "sick" and went through twice the normal amount of diapers.

Oh! And I will never, ever travel with only one pair of sunglasses ever again. I typically bring 2-3 pairs now. On every single trip, not just cruises.

I always have dreams right before a cruise that I showed up at port without proper identification.

I might have forgotten to pack underwear for a trip to WDW once. And I might have had to make a quick trip to a Walmart near the airport.

Maybe.

But I'm not admitting to anything. :earsboy:

(My family will never let me live that one down. Fortunately we had driven to the airport to stay in a hotel the night before our departure, and fortunately I caught the mistake that night when I could do something about it.)

I forgot my and DH's birth certificates. It felt like every drop of blood in my body rushed to my feet. Before I could even get my jaw off the floor, a supervisor was next to me asking if anyone could get in my house and fax them to her. Fortunately, my neighbor with a key was home, found them and was able to do so. We all now have passports and I practically strap them to my chest the moment I book a cruise.

Twice once on a cruise and once on a Disney trip. Cruise I forgot my usual stash of pads and lo and behold who came visiting that trip. Was in PR on the but tour. The WDW one was worse. I usually triple check my luggage for at least the bare minimum stuff. Well get all the way to Disney, check in, change into swimsuit and go enjoy stormslong bay. Come back to change and realize I packed no underwear! Thank god for the gift shop as this was preUber and orlando and we had no rental car. Of course when we got home there was the nicely folded stack on the bed. I forgot to put them in.

We were going on our first cruise as a celebration for my son graduating from HS. I had shopped and planned perfect outfits for formal night. We were all coordinating and I was going to get a great family picture with everyone dressed up. We had the car all packed but something was telling me that we were forgetting something....we looked and searched and decided we were all good. We drove about an hour and I continued to have this strong feeling we had left something behind. We actually turned around and drove home. All 4 of us got out and searched the house. We searched through everything that was already in the car. Again, we couldn't find anything we had left behind. Once on the ship we were unpacking everything and then we discovered what it was. My DS had not put his suit in the garment bag....oh, I was so mad at him. Thankfully he had a another pair of dress pants to wear but my dream of the coordinating outfits, perfect picture was ruined. We had a great time and we purchased the picture anyway!

Our first cruise back in 2010 a 7 nighter, I forgot my sons collared shirts. I had his dress clothes. This was back when cruisers really respected they dress code. Semi-formal nights and formal night were taken seriously.
So, I had a collard golf shirt etc for every night and a button down dress for semi and a shirt and tie for formal.

I discovered my faux pas when unpacking on the first afternoon. Dress shirts check, golf shirts none. So, my son and I went down to the shops and luckily found a DCL golf shirt and a Hawaiian shirt. He was 16 and very tall and fit into men's sizes.

His brother still wears the Hawaiian shirt! Lol a reminder of to double check our packing!

my last business trip I went on I go to the airport check my bags and realize I don't have my carry on bag or my laptop. Had to switch to a later flight drive an hour back to my house and grab it and drive back to the airport.

Several years ago we were going on an Alaska cruise. We live about an hour from the airport and had a flight that was leaving around 6am. We live in Ohio and had a connecting flight in Minneapolis then on to Vancouver. I had told dh that he needed to have his stuff packed early because I wanted to get to sleep early because I would be waking around 3am. Of course he waited until 10pm to begin packing, I had been packing dd and my suitcases for days. Finally get to sleep when our electricity goes out around midnight. My dd sleeps with a sound machine and woke up when it went off. I had packed the one that ran on batteries. I couldn't remember which suitcase it was in and basically had to go through 4 before I finally found it. Try to get back to sleep, but at this point the house is getting too hot to be able to sleep and my alarm was going off in 2 hours, so I get up. Finally time to leave, as we drive down our street dh realizes he left the bag with passports in the house. Goes back to get it. He leaves the door from the house to the garage open and I see what I think is a bird fly into the house. Dh gets back in car and I tell him about the bird. He says there's no bird, I insist that there was so he turns car around and goes back into house, looks around and says there was no bird. Off to the airport, I just know we are going to return to a house covered in bird poo. 10 mins before boarding our flight is cancelled making us miss our connecting flight. We end up getting to Vancouver after midnight, we were suppose to get there at 11am, Vancouver time. Finally get to hotel, dd (just turned 6 yrs old) has a melt down and wants to go home. Realize I forgot to put the battery operated sound machine back into suitcase. DD finally got to sleep thanks to a phone app we found. Cruise thankfully turned out great and when we got home there was no bird in the house.

On a trip to Disney back in the 90's, I was the family packer small kids at the time.
First day didn't notice anything missing, next morning shower and getting ready and I realize I left my make up bag home.
Needless to say, I avoided the camera that entire trip.

On a short anniversary cruise a few years ago we drove to Port Canaveral just hubby and me. As we are parking I pick up my backpack and I panic, I forgot our passports. I literally sat on the ground so upset with myself. Now mind you I never search backpack. My husband says its early lets drive home and get them, (we spent the night before in Disney) we live about 3 hours South, so he says theres enough time. We go to leave the port and the man at the port entrance tells us to go into terminal and ask a cast member before we drive home. So we do that and the lady at check-in says since you have sailed with us before all we really need is a copy. She says can someone go to your house and get them. I call my daughter at work and she goes to my house, I tell her they are right on my dresser, she looks and says nope not there. My husband then decides to look in backpack and wouldn't you know, there they were. OMG, how did I not look first. We sat in the terminal like idiots without me checking. He was a good sport about it thankfully and said he was going to take me back to Disney for the weekend if we couldn't get on the ship, thats why I love him so much.:lovestruc

Now I check like a lunatic and start packing my backpack at least a week before.

I've been known to forget to bring jewellery (besides my wedding rings). Depending on the vacation location and proximity to good jewellery stores, it may have, on occasion, been on purpose.

Thanks for sharing, but these stories are scaring me! :scared1: I always get that feeling but so far, nothing major has been forgotten. After reading these, I am sure I am going to be even more of a compulsive "checker" when we travel. ;)

I always forget something! I figure if I have my contacts/soln/glasses/passport almost anything else can be replaced fairly painlessly :) So I check for those four things and then proceed to forget: toothbrush, sunscreen, pjs, kindle (that was the worst!), makeup, etc :)

I think I was most annoyed when DH forgot nice pants and shoes so we had to cancel our ressies to Palo.

Every trip I would pack for everyone, including hubby. One time, he was in a mood and said he could pack his own clothes. OK, fine.
Being the control freak that I am, the following morning prior to getting in the car, I checked his suitcase. He didn't pack a single shirt.
He lets me check his suitcase without complaint now.

I know my sister in particular laughs at me, but I start packing a couple of weeks in advance so I can take my time and make sure that I have everything I need. The only things I've ever forgotten are the last minute things like a hair brush or the like which is easily replaced. Other things generally would not be a huge issue - I'm not really into pools so a swimsuit wouldn't kill me if I left it, my clothes are generally mix and match, and I have enough underwear that it's the first thing I pack so I know that's in there.

One thing I've learned being female is take more of the stuff for that time of the month than you would normally need. Especially when traveling in Europe. I thought I'd packed enough for my Med/Venice cruise last summer, but my body had other ideas, and I had to restock in Venice. I found a store that had some and went to get them (note: they are different in Europe in that they don't have applicators (just like OB here) - it didn't bother me, but it might some people) - I bought my box, and the guy behind me bought 2 packs of cigarettes for pretty much the same price. So at least in Venice you can do something totally unhealthy for less than it costs to be female each month!

This last last cruise, I left my Kindle behind on the airplane. I realized it when we were at Coronado Springs, getting ready for bed. I had this stomach-churning feeling because I knew I left it in the seat-front pocket. I'm one of those people that absolutely needs to read in order to go to sleep, otherwise my brain will continue to think and think, etc. So needless to say, this was the least relaxing cruise I've ever taken! All I was looking forward to was a nice lounger in Serenity Falls, a good drink, and my Kindle! I was stuck with my DS tablet that seemed to have a battery life of 10 min and you couldn't read squat in the sun!!!
